We stopped in Rethymno for a couple of days, so to speak, passing from Chania. the town itself is not very large, but the port, by Cretan standards, is beautiful and quite large. In the evening, walking, we watched a huge ship moor. Well it is necessary to be able to manage such a colossus !!!
embankment, as a place for walking, as such, no. during our trip there was a large construction site, road repairs, but at some distance from the coast there is a promenade - a continuous line of cafes, bars and restaurants. its main attraction is the cheerful Greek barkers, very young and aged, often the owners of the establishments themselves. the whole old city, with its tangled streets, shops and restaurants, can be walked up and down in one evening.
We chose the hotel "Casa Vitae" - a small and cozy 3-storey house, 10 minutes at a leisurely pace from the port. The interior design and condition of the rooms are excellent. breakfasts are simple but tasty - croissants, buns, tea or coffee, cheese, ham, bread and orange juice, about 7 euros. the windows offer a beautiful view of the courtyards of nearby houses, in the gardens of which oranges and pomegranates grow : )
all the staff seen in 2 days - this is the administrator (the daughter of the owner of the house, who lived in England for a long time and speaks excellent English) and her assistant (does not speak English) - friendly and benevolent.
there is wi-fi internet, but the house is old and the walls are thick, so if you live on the 3rd floor, these waves will not reach you. but, in a cozy courtyard under the shade of trees and umbrellas, it is quite possible to enjoy the possibilities of modern civilization.
have a nice holiday. . .
