This year I decided to see new places in Greece (before that I went to Crete three times). I wanted to change the situation, to visit places where there is a lot of greenery. Chose Corfu, mainly because of the price of the ticket. In the travel agency "Solvex-tour" in St. Petersburg I picked up the hotel "Roda Garden". Then I began to look for descriptions of the hotel and reviews of tourists on the Internet. I immediately noticed the incomprehensible location of the hotel: either they write that it is located near the town of Agios Gordios in the southwestern part of the island, or next to the town of Roda in the northern part of the island. In the travel agency, I did not receive a clear explanation of where the hotel is located after all. As a result, I personally ended up in "Roda Garden Village" 3 *, located in the north of Corfu.
The hotel is quite consistent with its 3 *. Territory well-groomed, a lot of greenery. The hotel has six buildings. 1 and 2 are located on the 1st line next to the pool. 3 and 4 behind them. In the 3rd there is a reception and a restaurant.
5 and 6 (apartments) away from the sea and separated from other buildings by a cozy garden and playground. I lived in the 3rd. The rooms in it are clean and comfortable with beautiful furniture, but very small: only 11 square meters. m + bathroom 2 sq. m. For one person it is enough, but for two it is already a bit crowded, the aisles are very narrow. If you sit at a table in front of a mirror, then the second one can no longer go to the toilet or to the balcony. But if you only sleep in the room, then there is enough space. What can you say about lighting. Dim energy-saving lamps give very little light. Reading in the evening is problematic. The room has a TV, but a significant drawback is the lack of a Russian channel. Still, in two weeks I really wanted to know the news and watch a movie in my native language. But there were only Greek, German and Polish channels, as well as the Euro news sports channel.
of the pluses, I would like to note the presence of an almost silently working air conditioner, which is necessary, especially in the evening and at night, since mosquitoes seize without it.
The food at the hotel is very good. Extended breakfast, in addition to the standard European set. a large selection of different dishes: porridge, vegetables, casseroles and pancakes, a lot of fresh vegetable salads. Lunch is poor: two hot dishes (meat and fish), a couple of side dishes, a full range of salads, only watermelon or melon from fruit. Soup is only for dinner, although it is least needed there, since in dinner there are 3-4 types of hot meat, fish, 4-5 types of side dishes, a dozen vegetable salads, 2-3 types of sweets. Plus ice cream (any quantity) for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Drinking is especially well organized. All non-alcoholic drinks are fully self-service both in the bar and in the restaurant. No need to ask anyone for anything, take it yourself and pour whatever you want.
Wine and beer in the restaurant, when children are supervised, tourists also pour themselves. And in the pool bar, alcoholic drinks and various cocktails (for children - without alcohol) are made by very friendly bartenders.
The beach is right in front of the hotel, across a small road. Almost nobody rides on it. They just bring in and pick up tourists. The beach is strewn with small pebbles. There is also a small strip of stones (two meters) at the entrance to the sea, if you go into the sea opposite the entrance to the hotel. Behind it is a good, very flat sandy bottom. Huge sandbank (50 meters) - depth to the chest. The depth increases gradually, without sharp jumps, there are no stones. It is very good to teach children to swim and swim for those who do not like long swims. When a strong wind rises from the sea, the waves in this shallow water overwhelm, they form too much, they go very often. But there were only two or three such days. Usually the water temperature is 22-23 degrees.
It's cold in my opinion. You can't swim for more than 30-40 minutes. I have to get out to warm up. Not like in Crete: water 26-27 in the morning and 28-29 in the afternoon, swim without a break for at least two hours!
Loved the pool at the hotel. Deep for adults - depth from 1.80 to 2.50 meters. And for children, small (0.80 meters) is quite safe, separated from the adult pool by a low metal fence. The pool is clean, beautiful and always warmer than the sea. For lovers of long swimming, a great option: first swim in the sea, then rinse in the shower and climb into the pool to warm up and swim in the depths.
There is practically no entertainment in the hotel. The animator organizes sometimes during the day water aerobics for 20 minutes or games: water polo, darts, volleyball, also usually for half an hour before dinner. In the evening there are children's discos, sometimes karaoke or dancing for adults. But it is difficult to find out about these events in advance. Since there is no information in Russian.
There are few Russians in this hotel, mostly "Russian Germans" from Germany, and many tourists from different countries. Everyone speaks different languages and this "Babylonian pandemonium" creates problems in communication.
As for excursions, everything is as always: the choice is large, the guides are more expensive, in the village 15 minutes walk from the hotel the same thing, twice cheaper. I counted two serious minuses: sightseeing buses do not drive up to this hotel, and by seven in the morning it’s not very pleasant to go to the highway and return tired late in the evening (albeit only 15-20 minutes), especially after spending 2-3 hours in the morning and evening on collection and transportation of other tourists. In addition, the serpentines in the northern part of the island are very exhausting. Suffice it to say that we drove more than two hours from the airport to the hotel. Although the entire island from north to south is only 80 km. And the airport is located in the middle of the island.
In general, the rest left a pleasant impression.
The Greeks welcome the arrival of tourists from all countries and welcome us very well!
I would recommend this hotel for parents with children and couples looking for a relaxing and pleasant stay.
