To begin with, I found the tour in 15 minutes. The previous tour operator scammed us with a tour 2 hours before departure, the train tickets burned down, the hotel reservation burned down, PCR tests were on hand... We had to act quickly. And the options that I came across is the island of Corfu for 8 days, with a departure from our city.

Bought without thinking. Our flight is only 2 hours, the transfer from the airport is 15 minutes and we are in the Gouvia area, the Poppy Star hotel. Settled very quickly, a standard room on the second floor, no frills. This hotel offers continental breakfasts (toast, croissants, muffins, coffee, muesli, yogurt, cucumber, tomato and jams).
Walk 5 minutes to the beach along the main street where all kinds of cafes, taverns, souvenir shops, etc. are located. The beach is pebbly, a gorgeous view of the mountains and the opposite part of the bay. You can stay both on pebbles and pay for a sun lounger (4.5 euros per person per day). Uniform entry into the sea, with small children is not scary. On the beach there is a rental service for catamarans, water scooters, saps, etc. (price tag from 15 euros per hour).
We had lunch and dinner in taverns, soups (6-8 euros); gyros from 2.5 to 10 euros; pasta, pizza from 6 euros; b / a drinks from 1.5 euros, alcohol from 5-6 euros. The portions are huge, with each order a present from the institution in the form of fruits, alcohol or sweets for children. There is a supermarket about 700 m away, the prices are reasonable. The tours that the guide offered us start from 45 euros, this did not suit us and we decided to rent a car. Rent for 1 day from 35 euros + gasoline. It cost us 65 euros with gas station and during this day we traveled the whole island, with all the sights (Kerkyra, the Old Fortress, the Temple of St. Spyridon, the Canal of Lovers in Sidari, Paleokastritsa, La Grotta beach, the Fortress of the Angels. We drove along the coast for 2.5 hours , we returned back from Paleokastritsa to Gouvia in 12 minutes, through the mountains. Roads are normal, you can probably say good... definitely not like in Ukraine. Yes, you can’t go fast along the serpentine, but you don’t need it. To rent a car, you need an international license sample is a card, my old sample did not fit in. No deposit was taken from us, although tourists talked about a deposit of 200-300 euros.
On the main street, we found a tour desk, two girls Tina and Nina work (like so, but I could be wrong). Tour prices start from 15 euros. We chose the "Paxos Antipaxos" boat tour for the day. Nice, but after our trip by car. . . not surpassed so to speak.
You need to write about buses. Regular buses run to Corfu, they go often and to all corners. The nearest stop is 5 minutes, the ticket price is from 0.80 euros in the city and from 1.5 euros around the island.
My story has come to an end. The rest was a success, I love Greece and Greek hospitality very much.

The trip to Corfu turned up by chance, before that I didn’t even know that there was such an island) The hotel was chosen according to the most economical criterion, since we are actively resting and we don’t sit in the hotel.
Pops Star is a 2 * hotel and fully corresponds to its star rating. There is almost no territory, in the backyard there is a pool and a place for sun loungers. Geographically, the hotel is located in the Gouvia region - there are only small hotels, a very lively resort - discos, shops, a supermarket. It is very cool that there is a pier for yachts nearby and walked there in the evenings.
About the hotel - not for an exquisite stay in a hotel, breakfasts are modest, they took dinner several times - a la carte menu. I really liked the dinners - the portions are large, everything is homemade and the cost is 12 euros !!!
Separately - the staff of the hotel. Miracle Athanasius at the reception
Recommend for active travelers. Corfu is amazing!! !

Popi Star Hotel is located in the village of Gouvia, 6 km from the airport and the center of Corfu. To the sea / beach - 200 m. Bus stop - 300 m from the hotel.
The hotel area is small. There is an outdoor fresh water pool. The beach is municipal, small pebble. Umbrellas + sun loungers - for a fee. There are no towels.
The hotel consists of two buildings. There are 70 rooms in the hotel: single and double rooms, small in size. In the rooms: air conditioning (for an extra charge of 5 €), satellite TV (there is a Russian channel, no Ukrainian), telephone, mini-fridge (free of charge), safe (free of charge), bath / shower, hairdryer, balcony / terrace. Wi-Fi in the lobby is free.
Meal plan: breakfast only or half board. Restaurant, pool bar, snack bar. Breakfast - continental buffet, dinner - a la carte (posted on the information board). For children - baby food (on request), high chairs in the restaurant. Babysitting - on request (extra charge).
Services at the hotel: internet corner (extra charge).
Active recreation and entertainment: table tennis, table football. Billiards (extra charge). 1 r / week - Greek evening.
Accommodation with four-legged friends is possible.
Unfortunately, there are no conditions for the reception of guests with limited mobility.
Personal impression: everything is quite modest. But despite the apparent simplicity, on May 14.2014 it was already full of people.
Summary: still 4 out of 5 possible. Rather, it is an economical option for the completely young or completely elderly. For some reason it seemed boring to me. Maybe it just wasn't "our" day to get to know each other?

Good afternoon! I rested with my sister at the Popi Star hotel in mid-June. Vacation went great! The hotel itself is small (only two stars), but very cozy. The menu for breakfast and dinner did not impress with its variety, but the food was delicious and always fresh. The hotel staff was friendly and willing to contact on many issues (this despite the language barrier! ).

The hotel staff was friendly and willing to contact on many issues (this despite the language barrier! ). Hotel rooms for such prices and stardom are very personal, especially since we spent most of our time on trips, excursions and on the beach. Cleaned honestly and conscientiously, on schedule.
The hotel is conveniently located - on the outskirts of the village of Gouvia. Walk to the shops, as well as to stop in the city nearby, and at the same time, you will not be bothered by the noise at night from bars and clubs! It’s not far to go to the beach, by the way - 150 meters, no more.
In my opinion, this hotel would be a good option for those who prefer to lie by the pool with a cocktail in their hands and go sightseeing in order to see in all its glory the place where you arrived. Well, a nearby convenient beach is suitable for lovers of swimming.
Happy holidays everyone!
