A stunning place riddled with legends and myths. As well as ancient ruins (archeology), relating to such years of our era and BC, which simply do not fit into the head.
Many people compare holidays in Greece with Turkey and Egypt.
But in Turkey like this, and in Egypt like this. Personally, my opinion is that this is a comparison of a car and a horse. Each, as they say, is good in its region.
At least Greece is Orthodox Europe. Rest in such places can be compared with Spain, the Cote d'Azur of France, etc.
It's not like in Turkey or like in Egypt, it's just different.
There is something to see. In general, it is better not to sit still 

We rented a car. The order of prices, Hyundai Gets 38 euros per day. The prices are about the same everywhere, if you suddenly find it cheaper, check the insurance, because at the time of parting with the money when paying for the car, you can draw or plus some other amount if you want a full hull, or 800 euros if the car even gets scratched  .
In three days we wound about 1200 km in the mountains. Better to take mechanics, automatic in some cases so-so. All the locals drive mechanics. But at the same time, everyone in the hotel took a machine gun and there were no complaints either. Take a detailed map with roads, and not approximate blueprints, as many suggest.
We passed the entire northern coast: Chania, Rethymno, Heraklion, Hersonises, Neapoli, Nikolaos, Sitia. Wai Bay beach in palm trees is all like that. On the northern side, amazing road, pleasant travel
vomit. On the way we stopped at many beaches. Beaches sand, small pebbles, pink sands, volcanic sands, stones.
We moved to the south coast. The road is not along the coast, it takes a long time to get to each beach. Naturally got lost  and drove off to the center of the island. But nothing, they returned back . Were in Ierapetra and on the beach of Matala - an amazing place. The Libyan Sea, cute taverns, a stunning mountain with caves. The beaches of Paleochora and Stakya were also advised - but this is still a day of time, we decided to leave it next time  .

Greeks always treat. That is, before the bill is taken out, it is necessary to have fruits or sweets and three hundred grams of crayfish.

There is no seafood in Malia. Mostly eateries with burgers and fries.
8 km from Malia, two villages Sisi and Milatos, there is plenty of seafood there. You can ride quad bikes, which we did. And there is also a fish restaurant in Port Malia - this is closer. You can even walk.
Fur coats. The myth of cheapness. Not cheap. In general, cheaper than at home will not work. It will turn out just like that, the fur coat was bought in Greece, as if as a keepsake and as if with the thought that it was from Greece.
Hotel High Beach 4.
Located in Malia. The most party city that can be found on this coast.
From 12 at night Malia comes to life and turns into an "anthill". Brits, Germans, Dutch....... , age 18. Night bars, discos...... well, all this is natural until the morning.
A huge plus of High Beach is that all this nightlife is not heard. Since it is removed from the main street a little deeper.
High Beach stands right on the seashore, no roads need to be crossed, from any building to the sea no more than one minute walk.
Sandy bottom, shallow sea which is very fond of children.
The food is just enough but a bit monotonous. We didn't go to breakfast in the last few days, it was not interesting.
Stunning girls from Belarus and other socialist countries work. space. Ie, Russian-speaking staff more than.
There is no animation as such. There was a karaoke night - it was great. The guys from Germany sang amazingly : ). Just an evening of belly dancing and everything seems to be : ). But in fact, a couple of minutes of walking to fun and the whole nightlife of Crete is at hand : ).
And in the end, what finished me off in the hotel "4" stars, SHINDOW in the shower. A cute curtain that sticks to you when you shower. That is, there are no standard showers in the room.
In the superior there is, but not in one description, not in one catalog about the curtain in the standard there is not a single word.

They offered to change the room, with a surcharge of 160 euros. But already just crushed toad. We are absolutely not pretentious people, but everyone, as you know, has their own fads. Write a true description of the rooms and show the same pictures and there will be no such claims later.
But perhaps the curtain in the hotel is the only capital minus. In all other respects, I am very satisfied - very much : ).
