Greetings! We decided to take a 3-year-old child to the sea for the first time, before that I had never been anywhere because of my crazy fear for him. I studied the Internet for a long time, in search of where it would be relatively safe to go with a child in September and quite on a budget. Greetings! We decided to take a 3-year-old child to the sea for the first time, before that I had never been anywhere because of my crazy fear for him. I studied the Internet for a long time, in search of where it would be relatively safe to go with a child in September and quite on a budget. I watched Turkey, the price of hotels, where it would not be scary according to reviews to go with a child, started from 125 thousand rubles for 10 nights. For us (2 adults, 1 child) it was expensive, and, in principle, we didn’t really want to go to Turkey, because. all my friends, who at least once vacationed in Turkey with children, always had children sick with something during the holidays (I was most afraid of this, we went to the sea to improve our health). I think that the reason for the infections is that in Turkey the hotels are huge and designed for a large number of guests, where there are many children, it is easy to pick up something (we remember visiting a kindergarten). Forgive me for lyrical digressions, but I think the topic of a safe holiday with a child worries many.
As a result, we came to the conclusion that we are on the road to Europe.
The cheapest European country in September 2013 was Greece, the island of Crete. I chose hotels for a long time based on reviews and settled on Cretan Filoxenia Beach 3 * - about. Crete - Heraklion. 10 night stay, all inclusive, 2 adults + 1 child 3 years cost 70.000 rubles, bought in Tez Tour.
I want to say right away that in Turkey or Egypt, I would be in 3 stars, God forbid, but in Europe in hotels of three stars, it’s not scary and very worthy (there is experience).
LOCATION: The hotel is located 19 km east of Heraklion Airport, in a remote village called Analipsi. Therefore, I warn you right away, this place is not for those who love nightlife and parties. Analipsi, a quiet, calm village where you can plunge into the local flavor. There are cafes and souvenir shops along the coast, but there are no noisy nightlife establishments. In general, an ideal place to relax with a child.
BEACH AND SEA: One of the advantages of this hotel. This hotel is on the first coastline. You leave the hotel, cross a small road (the road goes along the entire coast of the village) and here you are, a sandy municipal beach cleared of stones. The weather in September was ideal, 28-30 degrees, but at the same time there was no feeling of stupefying heat, the sea was warm. The only thing is that it is not very calm, there are waves. It didn't bother us at all. We didn’t take sunbeds, but lay)) (although with a child of 3 years old it’s unlikely that you can really lie) on towels. By the way, such a well-cleaned beach was only opposite our hotel, in other places there were large stones. The coast in Crete is rocky everywhere and stones are found in the sea.
TERRITORY, ROOM: The territory of the hotel is small, like all three-room hotels in Crete, but very cozy and well-groomed. Everything is so well located that, for example, wherever you sit in a restaurant, everyone has a view of the sea. They settled us in the main building on the 2nd floor, from the balcony there was a sea view. The room is very simple but cozy. 3 beds, bedside tables, table, shower. I personally liked the glass door to the balcony, while lying in a crib with the door closed, a wonderful view of the sea opened up.
There are 2 swimming pools on the territory, an adult and a children's paddling pool, also overlooking the sea : ).
There is a small playground, which is nice, in the heat of the day a shadow from the hull fell on it. It is so conveniently located that you can watch your child from the veranda of the restaurant.
FOOD: All inclusive. The restaurant consisted of an enclosed space and a veranda. We always ate on the veranda.
My husband is a very picky eater, so food for us is one of the components of a good holiday. That's what pleasantly surprised me, so it's food (in Spain it was much worse). Greek cuisine is close to ours. All dishes were very similar to ours: roast with meat and potatoes for dinner, chicken (not the same as in Egypt), a large real piece of chicken, etc. The breakfasts were monotonous, but I think everyone will find something for themselves. Lunches and dinners were very varied, meat, chicken, pasta, casserole, vegetables, several types of potatoes (fries, fried). Definitely desserts. Fruit only grapes and watermelon, but the grapes were delicious, local, grown in Crete. From lunch, a refrigerator was opened with 5 types of ice cream, each one came up and put as much as needed (our child was delighted). Tea was only for breakfast, I must say that the taste of tea and water itself was specific. Juices like Jupi, Coca-Cola, Fanta, just water. Moreover, it was allowed to collect water in bottles, we always took it to the beach. Alcoholic drinks are local, very interesting, beer tastes acceptable. By the way, because the beach was 2 steps away, it was not difficult to periodically go to a bar for a cold beer.
Between meals, you could ask for sandwiches, insanely delicious with ham and cheese. Before going to the beach, we always ordered them at the bar and took them with us. The kid swallowed them with pleasure.
ANIMATION: none, but we didn't really need it.
STAFF: Very polite and friendly. Because the hotel is small and the staff is the same, by the end of the holiday you just become akin to it. The child was always given some small gifts. For example, our maid gave him soap bubbles, and the bartender gave him a typewriter.
In general, the Greeks are very friendly people, no one tried to sell you goods in souvenir shops, no one grabs your hands, everyone was very polite. In public catering I was struck by large portions, the prices are the same as in Moscow, but the size of the portions is huge. The cuisine is delicious.
EXCURSIONS: We rented a car and traveled by ourselves. As it turned out, renting a car is very simple and not expensive. For the presence of a child seat, they do not charge an additional fee. We took a car in a shop near our hotel, the prices are basically the same everywhere. We advise everyone to go to the mountain lake, all three of them have a lot of impressions. We visited the cave, the cave itself did not make an impression, but you could climb up to the cave on a donkey, the child was delighted.
Bottom line: we liked everything, our child never sneezed, all our atopic dermatitis disappeared like a charm. Great hotel for a budget holiday.

I will write about my feelings point by point: 1) Hotel: simple, strong 3 *. The hotel has a small playground, which is a plus for those who travel with children, there are 2 swimming pools, large and small (for children, but one day I watched one Polish woman get drunk and this pool was almost a jacuzzi for her, only burbalkas were missing) , children just trudge from splashing in the water (minus the fact that the water is chlorinated).

The sea is across the road, but close. If you need to be careful with children, because. right at the exit of the hotel road!
With constant waves, it is still clean, we were lucky for three days there were no waves, the sea was just super warm like milk, and the water was "cleaner than in a tap. " There were many Poles in the hotel;
2) Staff: there are no complaints about the staff at the reception, they even settled in the room ahead of time, thank you very much! In the dining room: a waiter with an earring in his ear and a lady with flowing hair, dark, seemed nasty - they looked into her mouth all the time. In general, the staff is good, not intrusive, friendly;
3) Food: normal for 3 *, but monotonous, not always fresh!!!
When we went on excursions, they asked for lunch, a sandwich (white bread, sausage, cheese) + nectarine + water, the sandwiches are disgusting, the bread is not fresh, the nectarine is green, but it’s worth taking lunch at least because of the water.
Do not be afraid that I am writing only about the cons, because. you can write endlessly about the pros. Greece itself is a big plus + your good holiday mood, so I am writing to be ready for some moments and not be upset upon arrival. I wish you a good holiday!!!
Conclusions: In general, the hotel is good, strong 3 *.

True, there is a joint with water... it is a little salty, so it is impossible to drink tea . . but this is probably not a minus of the hotel, but in general the village of Analipsi, in which the hotel is located. The location is very convenient - 5 steps to the sea, the beaches are good, most importantly - there are a lot of them! there is plenty to choose from, there is an entrance to the sea - plates, there is sand and small pebbles. Very convenient hotel for those with children. We were with a young man for 2 weeks and never had an unsolvable situation or didn’t like something. We advise everyone - a budget and pleasant option : )
