I liked the hotel, first of all, for its location. The sea is right outside the gate across a narrow road. You can sunbathe by the pool and immediately go for a swim in the sea. There are many places for swimming and entry into the sea is convenient. The bottom is shallow and sandy. The absence of a beach, or rather it is there, but small, is not a problem. In nearby taverns, when ordering, they offer sun loungers and sun loungers for free on their beach. The hotel itself is quiet and clean, the internet is good. From our window we could see the sea. The staff is responsive. I recommend.

I liked the rest in general. Pros: nice sandy beach and clear sea 10 meters from the hotel. The climatization passed quickly, there is no such heat as in Turkey or Egypt. The north wind almost always blew and there was excitement on the sea, sometimes quieter, sometimes stronger. It's more interesting for me to swim with waves.

Cons appeared during trips by car. We rented a car for 2 days through a representative of a travel agency for 100 Euros Volkswagen hatchback mechanic (in a nearby village it costs 70-80 Euros). He advised us where to go. Expectations were on the ruble and impressions in the end for a penny. Knossos Palace is a bunch of ruins with wall paintings preserved in two places. The city of St. George, as we were told by the local Venice, turned out to be an ordinary, not big, unremarkable coastal town. We went there to have lunch in a small tavern, so they fed us with selected filth (Greek salad without olives and from unripe tomatoes, spicy meatballs that the child did not eat, instead of the ordered fried pork there were pieces of not tasty stew, instead of a vegetable side dish - pickled cucumbers with some kind of beans, instead of spaghetti - small boiled pasta). The vaunted beach in the bay of the city of Istra turned out to be an ordinary beach, only packed to capacity with cars and people. There were also water cheesecakes and other wheelchairs, which is a minus for us personally. The only thing that caused positive emotions was the monastery. The next day we went to Heraklion to the port for fresh fish. Fish is expensive from 15 Euro per kg and above. They also asked us to clean it there. We asked the representative of the travel agency where we can see the big bazaar on the island. He advised us to visit the city of Haina on Thursday. We eventually found this bazaar somehow (it's called Agora, we were told by one Ukrainian woman working in a flower shop how to find it). Agora turned out to be an unremarkable bazaar with two rows of stalls with the usual range of products. Another representative of western Ukraine lured her to her tavern to dine there, who fed her wife and daughter cutlets, after which they spent the whole evening and night on the toilet, suffering from stomach pains.
After that, another myth was destroyed from the guide that food is good everywhere here. We preferred to cook our own food.
Were at the turtle lake. An ordinary small lake with a bad shore (you can swim only from a catamaran) and with a complete absence of turtles and other living creatures.
We were on the beach in Bali. Dirty beach with muddy water.
Were in the cave Milidoni (not far from Bali). I was impressed by the views when we drove along the mountain serpentine. The exotic and Sami village of Milidoni with narrow streets, we literally drove between the chairs on which the Greeks were sitting. The cave turned out to be not very large (40 meters in diameter), but exotic and darkish, a little creepy.
In the end, we realized that our beach is the best time for driving.

When we rested, there were only Russians in the hotels. The rooms are large, consist of two rooms, a living room with a kitchen and a bedroom. The rooms are clean and cleaned every 3 days. The pool water is clean and warm. There were many families with small children, so in the pool they are just a blessing and in general a hotel for families, if you go for parties, then this is a different place. The location is right by the sea, we went out of the gate, crossed the road, where we left the rented cars and the sea for the night! The location of the Gournes village itself is convenient for traveling by car, in the middle of the island, the same distance to the west and east.

Rested in Crete for the second time. and the second time in this hotel, even - the room was the same! (213) Took the ticket consciously without food at all, so I can not assess how "fed". And in general - to go to Crete on the "Olincluses", it's like going to the Tretyakov Gallery to watch TV. Who needs an allink - go to Turkey / Egypt.

Took the ticket consciously without food at all, so I can not assess how "fed". And in general - to go to Crete on the "Olincluses", it's like going to the Tretyakov Gallery to watch TV. Who needs an allink - go to Turkey / Egypt. there you can put a deck chair in the restaurant and not get up for at least a month. And you have to go to Crete to WATCH! and there is something to look at.
And here comes a very good location of the hotel - in the center of the island! that is, any trip to any point indoors will not be long and tiring. The longest - in the bay of Balos - 200 km in one direction. And yes - the average length of the trip does not exceed 100 km. This is very profitable when renting a car, because gasoline is not very cheap! (~ 1.8E / liter)
Again, the island is a cloud of various taverns - you can always find a place to eat.
That's why our daily routine looked something like this - getting up at 7 am in the morning. we drink coffee, make a light breakfast (scrambled eggs or butter), at 8.00 - start! We had lunch in a tavern, came in the evening and, depending on fatigue, either went to the tavern Ambrosia (I highly recommend it! Fortunately, there is a Spar supermarket (in Kokkini Hani). 2 minutes by car.
in the breaks between trips, when the 5th point required rest from the seats in the car, and the brain wanted to settle everything you saw, you can fall on the beach. the beach is very "far" - came out of the hotel gate and "fell into the sea": -) (see photo)
there is, however, one drawback - the "municipal" beach, so on Saturdays and Sundays many Greeks come. But there was never a time when we didn't find a place for ourselves. Sea / beach The sea is clean, shallow. The bottom is sandy! ! ! ! ! ! ! there is always excitement at sea (more or less, but always) Personally, we really liked it - we love the waves!
There is also a swimming pool near the hotel - children can jump from the board.
Now about the number. The hotel is not new, but well maintained, thanks to the manager Oleg (congratulations to him! ). Everything works. The kitchen has knives, spoons, forks, can openers, glasses and cups, 3 types of plates (small / large / deep) according to the number of seats in the room. ours was a 5-seater, respectively, there were 5 pieces. Electric kettle, electric stove. Refrigerator, and not a "minibar", as in other hotels, namely - REFRIGERATOR. let small, but very capacious (watermelon got in! ). There is a frying pan and a few pans. you can cook any food.
What you don't have and you must take with you - salt (!! ), Detergents for dishes and rags (sponge for dishes and for wiping from the table), otherwise you will have to buy everything on the spot for euros.
Towels and bed linen are changed every 3 days during cleaning.
if something is wrong - you can always contact Oleg - he will definitely help solve any problems.
Personally, we had a current kettle - replaced in 30 minutes. and we asked for a Teflon frying pan, because it burned tightly in a steel omelet with any amount of oil. were satisfied.
On cloudy days, there may be problems with hot water - again, you need to notify to turn on the boiler.
Each room has a separate entrance. in our room you could even put a table to eat on the street. (cozy nook)
wi-fi in the hotel is fast, free and catches throughout the territory + even the beach covers! speed is enough for video communication in Skype. you know how much envy is on the "other side" when you call from the beach via video ! ! ? ?
in short, I highly recommend the hotel to active people! who will not lie all day by the pool waiting for dinner.
And there were some - then told in private conversations how they are bored here and no entertainment at all. I wanted to personally kill their abstinence!
There are so many places to look at that it is a crime against humanity to lie down all your vacation in a hotel! There is nothing to do here without renting a car. because if you buy tours separately - you can go bankrupt. example - a tour operator's tour of the Knossos Palace costs 45 euros / person + separate entrance ticket. By car it is 15 km from the hotel door.

The hotel is located in a very quiet place without discos, big shops and other fuss, which is exactly what we needed. From Heraklion 10 minutes by car. The hotel consists of 5 cottages with 22 apartments, each with its own entrance. The hotel area is small but very clean and comfortable. The beach is right across the road, we walked out of the hotel in swimsuits and slippers.

The beach is right across the road, we walked out of the hotel in swimsuits and slippers. Everything in the room is very clean and tidy, the room is spacious of 2 rooms, the bathroom is large and combined, the plumbing is new in excellent condition. The kitchen corner has everything you need for cooking, dishes, cutlery are in good condition, but you bought detergents and a sponge yourself. Air conditioning in the bedroom, but we never used it, but we bought a mosquito fumigator. The pool is small but clean and almost always empty. No breakfast - a cup of tea. we are waiting for two toasts and a spoon, so we bought the tour without food, we had breakfast ourselves. Products were bought in a large Haldinikini supermarket in Kokkini-Kani (by car 3 min. ) Only Russians live in the hotel, these are usually families with children or couples aged. Gatherings on the territory of the hotel are forbidden to be arranged, at 11 o’clock they are asked to disperse, so it’s good there: peace and quiet. The manager is Russian, he solves all economic issues instantly, and will always give recommendations where to go, they have never been disappointed. Of course, there is nothing to do in the hotel all day long, most of them come, rent cars and drive around the island, which we did. At night the cars are all parked on the road near the gates of the hotel - it's safe.
