We took a tour from the TPG tour operator, the manager there suggested the Santa Marina Hotel. We read the reviews - it seems to be a normal hotel, given the 3 * and the cost.

We took a tour from the TPG tour operator, the manager there suggested the Santa Marina Hotel. We read the reviews - it seems to be a normal hotel, given the 3 * and the cost. We arrived without any problems, immediately met with a separate guide Anastasia, who spoke about the service and maintenance at the hotel and helped with the check-in. We lived in the main building. The room turned out to be spacious, everything is conveniently located, there is the necessary furniture and appliances (bed, wardrobe, TV, telephone and mini-bar for a fee), but repairs are needed, everything is already pretty tired. The bathroom is small, the bath itself is with a curtain, plumbing, of course, is not new, but it does not leak. There is a hair dryer, but it's good that I took my own) And yes, it's a bit dark in the room, the lighting is poor. Bed linen changed twice a week, towels often. But the cleaning was daily, there are no complaints about its quality. We had enough sockets. The air conditioner did a great job of keeping the chill out at night. In addition, with the windows closed it was quiet and the soundproofing in the room was also excellent. The food was very satisfying. The restaurant has two halls - inside and outside. The daily menu has both the first and several side dishes, a lot of vegetables (raw, steamed, baked), meat in different variations and several types. Fish and seafood were given less often, but also very tasty cooked. The fruits are ripe. Drinks are so-so. The waiters move very quickly through the halls, they manage to do everything. Clean, the dishes are clean, there is plenty of food, there was no such thing that someone did not have enough. The beach is across the road, sandy, well maintained, but with paid sunbeds and umbrellas. We paid a couple of times, and then decided to just relax on the sand. By the way, there are no beach towels in the hotel! Get yours or buy. A few words about the location of the hotel - there are several beaches nearby, easy access to shops, markets, cafes, you can walk to the lake, or just walk along the Cretan streets) For a simple person who does not look for flaws in everything - an excellent budget hotel. Yes, maybe these are not luxury conditions, but it’s delicious, clean and the attitude of the staff towards their guest is wonderful! A complete and relaxing holiday is guaranteed. I recommend the hotel to stay!

Upon arrival at the hotel, the hotel guide met me and helped me check in. Upon arrival at the hotel, the hotel guide met me and helped me check in. I was given a room an hour and a half before check-in time after a fifteen-minute wait, which was a pleasant surprise))
I really liked the hotel restaurant. There is always variety on the menu: everything is homemade and very tasty. Restaurant staff are always attentive, tidy and friendly)))
The hotel is small, close to the city center: in the evenings we explored new walking routes. Close to two minutes walk clean sandy beach.
We also visited the excursion Lassithi - Cave of Zeus. Special thanks to our guide, I really liked the program and the organization is good))
Will definitely come here again.

The hotel is located in the center, in the evenings after dinner we went to explore the city center. Near the legendary lake, many taverns and coffee houses where you can have a good time.

I was very pleased with the hotel restaurant. Always delicious and varied menu. All hotel staff are friendly and welcoming. The rooms and grounds are clean and tidy. In general, the hotel left exceptionally good impressions and memories of a pleasant stay.
We went on an excursion with a visit to the island of Chrissi. Perfectly organized holiday in paradise. We came in May: the water in Agios was a bit cold for us, but we had plenty of swimming in the pleasant waters of the Libyan Sea.
Within the city, within walking distance of a large selection of beaches. The closest one to the hotel is two minutes away.

Good location - the city beach is nearby, a supermarket is around the corner, you can go for a walk around the city, see the parking of yachts and boats (the locals call it Marina), take a walk to the port and the embankment. The hotel staff is caring and polite, they quickly solved the problems that arose. We had minor problems with the shower in our room upon arrival, we contacted the reception through the hotel guide - everything was done in half an hour.
The rooms themselves are small but have everything you need. We went to see the country and the island of Crete itself, so we did not expect to sit constantly in the room. In this regard, the weather let us down, as there was a small rain several times during our stay, but we still went out for a walk around the city. We also went to the entertainment program Cretan evening - we liked it very much. This program conveys the flavor of Greek culture.
The hotel has good cuisine - there is always a choice of dishes. Breakfast is usually scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, vegetables, cereal with milk. For dinner, there are always a couple of types of meat, fish, various salads and side dishes, fruits and sweets. The waiters bring the ordered drinks. Closer to our departure, the restaurant filled up quite quickly, so we had to wait a couple of times until the tables were free.
The hotel has a small swimming pool and sunbathing area.
The hotel does not have any entertainment program, but it will not be boring - Russian speakers rest in the hotel, there are bars and restaurants nearby. Sometimes in the evenings some foreigners were noisy at the billiards, but everything was within the permissible limits.
If I plan another trip to Crete and Agios Nikolaos in particular, then I will calmly go to Santa Marina again. The hotel justifies its low price. You will not eat oysters, but you will rest quite well.
If you decide to visit the Santa Marina Hotel, then say hello to the restaurant manager Petro. Before we left, we asked him to make us carrot juice, which was not on the menu, and received it in the morning, it was very nice to have such an attentive attitude!

We stayed at the hotel at the beginning of July. The town itself and the views that open from the coast are simply amazing. The hotel is clean, very tidy, with friendly staff and a great location. For swimming before breakfast, a small beach is a 5-minute walk from the room to the beach, 15 minutes one way, a wonderful pebble beach almost in the center of the town of Agios Nikolas, 20 minutes the other way, another sandy beach for bathing with children, large and long shallow.

We stayed at the hotel at the beginning of July. The town itself and the views that open from the coast are simply amazing. The hotel is clean, very tidy, with friendly staff and a great location. For swimming before breakfast, a small beach is a 5-minute walk from the room to the beach, 15 minutes one way, a wonderful pebble beach almost in the center of the town of Agios Nikolas, 20 minutes the other way, another sandy beach for bathing with children, large and long shallow. We only took breakfast at the hotel. They were perfectly decent, but every day the same. For 8 days, they didn’t have time to get bored, because the choice of products is enough for a change (wonderful bacon, yoghurts, cereals, fruits, excellent pastries). Eating a company of 4 people was not a problem in any tavern. However, my advice is not to eat at the establishments that are located on the promenade next to the hotel. The attitude of the staff is just disgusting. Great recommendations for good places to eat are given by the staff. I advise you to listen. We have used it and are very pleased. Internet in the hotel lobby. I advise you to take rooms with windows to the courtyard. It's very noisy outside. Thanks to the hotel staff for the excellent attitude and pleasant stay.
