Thank you all in advance for your replies!

If you are going to drive your own car, keep in mind that you will have to cross 2 borders and stand at each for 5 hours.

As for getting there, look at the cost of tickets (if nothing has changed, it's UIA), and options Kyiv-Tbilisi, Kyiv-Kutaisi, I think Kyiv - Batumi will be more expensive. Last year, for the same reasons, we flew in Kutaisi, but you are traveling, you can make a route, hello from this city. We traveled from 2013 to 2017 in different variations, different composition, maybe my husband had a contract and then I just went there to him, and the host party actively introduced us to the kitchen, and attractions, and the group ( work + rest, it is cheaper to go by car, maybe tickets are not cheap, and if you go with two or more people, definitely cheaper. But! If the car is comfortable and reliable, the path is not close. The car solves a lot of moments, so now the services of guides, especially individual. And by car you can get all the points
аватар moy_contakt
In all points, there are caves, quarries, waterfalls, Kazbek, in Georgia there is something to see, choose housing on the seashore (for example, the village of Kvariati), there, 3 km from Turkey - go shopping (on your own). In general, in terms of active excursions, your own car will save you a lot of money and give you many opportunities. In April 2017, we traveled with a group of 30 people and it was more profitable for us to contact one company, which organized transfers according to our composition and wishes, and it turned out to be very inexpensive. What to see, again, if by car, then this is one route, if on your own, then another, depending on the possibilities, since everything has risen in price there now. And if earlier we ate 2 meals + 1 rub up to 300 UAH, then in 2017 it came out from 700 UAH and more lunch, dinner 1000-1200. But that's the thing, everyone eats differently :)

I went to Georgia in my car. It was in Soviet times. I traveled through Abkhazia, and through the "Cross Pass" (Georgian Military Road, Checkpoint Upper Lars). Today you can travel to Georgia only through the Upper Lars checkpoint. It is impossible to drive along the seashore, through the territory of Abkhazia.
The journey is very difficult, there are many tunnels, frequent scree of stones on the road, etc. But the exoticism and picturesqueness is impressive. It's easier, I think, and cheaper to fly by plane.

And keep in mind that you are unlikely to swim .... I was surprised to find out in July (and there were hopes for 4 days on the beach to lie down) that because of the cobblestones you won’t lie comfortably there, but the trestle beds in the daytime with fire .... Waves in summer it’s a common thing there, it’s very difficult to go into the water, and besides, it is very invigorating and their season essentially starts in August, and so there are clouds, rain, breeze, sun through the dots, etc. The weather was on the excursion. The last time I went was for 7 nights, the end of April with the transition to May. For two days the sun was very warm and we even plunged a couple of times (the water was 13 degrees). In July, the water was about 22-24, no more, and sometimes less. All this I write mostly about Batumi, because although we visited their other tourist villages, we spent little time there.

Thank you all for your replies (I look forward to more!) Probably we will think that Georgia or Montenegro is better?!
аватар moy_contakt
If you want to combine a beach holiday, or still with an emphasis on a beach holiday, then Montenegro is better. The nature there is crazy. You can rent a car there, but again, depending on the month of visiting this country, choose the correct location. Although Budva is a central party city, there are a lot of people there from July to August and more, towels were laid in the aisle on the beach. I really liked to go there for May holidays and just go in May, which we did safely and did while there were charters during this period. Few people, empty beaches. The excursion is almost individual :) But the water in the sea is 18-20 degrees, invigorating, but the purest transparent water, free of charge) until 1.06) sun loungers umbrellas. In any restaurant you are welcome and you are the best guest, but the fact that in the season ... you can not wait until they come to you, and the Serbs are generally a priority ..... even if they came later, they will quickly come to them ... There are nuances and they need to be taken into account.

I don't know about my course of course. But let's just say the other day I was looking for ways for my family to relax in Georgia. I decided to buy a ticket first, and book a hostel on booking, in the end, as it turned out, it turned out cheaper at the agency, order the most primitive 3 * hotel, in the center of Batumi, not far from the beauties, the port, and the sea, they are not bad enough, if you are of course do not go to a luxury hotel with a place to lie on the sea. I chose everything at the minimum price, because last year I was myself, on a Tbilisi-Batumi-Gudauri bus tour, and I know that, in principle, Georgia has its establishments and wonderful street cafes with all their delicious khinkali, khachapuri) impossible to resist. All this is not expensive at all. The ratio with our prices is 2-3 UAH more. For 100-150 UAH you can eat from the stomach in a cafe, also with their portions..
As for the cost in Batumi: for 7 nights 8 days for 2 it turned out - $ 527, without food, with a flight from Zhulyan. (All flights to Batumi are from Zhulyan.)
If there are questions, write.

Ulechka92_07, I do not agree with your opinion about prices. 2013-2015, yes, the prices were very good, taxis were cheap, food .... everything has risen in price since last year (I won’t say anything for 2016, because I was fully supported by my husband’s work and I wasn’t even interested in what and how much it costs. approximate the course both last and this year is UAH 11 = GEL 1. An average lunch for 2 (where the third is a child for whom there was practically no order) We ate chicken soup in half, and so on) from 70 GEL. Eat a piece of cake and drink a cup of coffee at an average of 25 GEL per person. Dinner with a glass of wine and a little more meat from 120 GEL. I didn’t find cheap options, everyone has about the same price tag. Maybe in Kyiv you eat in this price category, but in my opinion .... a little expensive. I can go to a restaurant in Kharkov to eat an excellent steak + wine + salad and for two, all this is 800-900 UAH. This is a fashionable institution, not an eatery.
аватар ulechka92_07
moy_contakt, I will not study the price market of Georgia with you, for certain food products, goods, etc. I will tell you only one thing: in Tbilisi prices are more expensive, Batumi is a little cheaper. And, the very cost of the flight and accommodation in Georgia, as I wrote above, already speaks for itself .. the fact that a vacation in Georgia is YET not a vacation in Montenegro and other European countries. Georgia is still relatively attractive in terms of prices. I was in 2017. And we ate both in cafes and waterfront restaurants. It was enough for us three young ladies to order three dishes, and to divide it all into three, since the portions were decent. Everything is relative, depending on who likes to eat, what to see, and in general what he goes there for.
If we consider a trip to Georgia as an unassuming tourist, you can find options where to eat decently and not spend money. You need to be able to search.)

Good day! If you want to see the sights of Georgia, without a beach holiday, I would recommend that you break it into 2 stages. ON 5 days of the excursion program to Western Georgia, this is Kutaisi and 5 days to Eastern-Tbilisi. The order of the steps is not critical. You just arrive in Kutaisi and fly out of Tbilisi. With this plan, you save time on moving from your place of residence to attractions. Those. maximum mileage in one direction up to 100 km.
About excursions. Now, with the tourist boom in Georgia, every taxi driver will offer you the services of a guide and a similar level of service from street "travel agencies". It's good if such a "guide" speaks not only Georgian. :)
Of course, you can book a hotel through Booking, but the pictures do not always correspond to reality. We have checked everything ourselves. We deal with individual tourists in Western Georgia. We are based in Tskaltubo, which is 8 km from Kutaisi. Our website www.imere-t.com

Hello. I have been to Georgia 4 times. I ordered accommodation on the website airbnb.com for every taste and budget. Tickets for Yanair, UIA, Georgia airways (the best airline in the direction to Georgia). Here is a site where you can order excursions https://gotrip.ge/en. In the attached photo, 2 more contacts are excellent guides. It is worth visiting from Kazbegi Gudauri Tbilisi Sighnaghi Bakuriani Borjomi Martvili Canyon Mestia Batumi. Cities can be listed ad infinitum. If you drive your own car, then 2 weeks and you will drive through all of Georgia. Each time we captured a separate part of Georgia. I have been to 15 countries and Montenegro too, but Georgia is my favorite. Beautiful hearty delicious. Food at the same price as ours. Depends on the level of the restaurant.
аватар manich
We also have partners in Tbilisi, who are ready to provide comfortable accommodation and organize excursions in East Georgia. The guides are knowledgeable and speak good Russian.
Regarding moving around Georgia by car, there are several factors in view of which it is worth considering this step well. This is a very peculiar way of driving Georgians and it is very difficult not to taste wine in Georgia. And drunk driving is punished here. Therefore, I would not recommend to go by car.
If you are interested in our offer, write. We will develop a program for you and share contacts in Tbilisi.

I asked exactly the same questions a couple of months ago. I shoveled a bunch of information, as a result, in two weeks I’m still going to Georgia !!!
1. Cheaper to go, of course, by car. But you calculate how long it is on the road. After all, a vacation should be a vacation, not a torment. Therefore, I recommend the plane, but buy tickets in advance, then it comes out cheap.
2. You definitely need to see Tbilisi, Kakheti (tasting in wineries and private cellars), Borjomi (healing with mineral water after tastings), Mestia and Ushguli.
3. Cheaper group tours, of course. And there is generally a free option - to read on your own and not take excursions at all.
4. Cheaper on your own car, the second most expensive option is to rent a car on the spot, a guide with a car is the most expensive option.

ollennka waiting for the report! Or write, please, personally to me how you went! Especially will be interested in what places visited and all financial issues!
аватар ollennka
natabebi, I will post a trip report on another site. And then I’ll write to you briefly in a personal, what how much.
аватар moy_contakt
Ollennka, Why won't your review be on this site?
аватар ollennka
Because I’m moving to another site, I like moderation there more, it’s tougher, “stories” of three sentences and two photos are not allowed there. And there is a larger audience there, so there is always something to read that is useful and at the same time well-written.
I stay at TurPravda for "tryndet".

I'm going to Georgia in June. I arrive in Tbilisi, I fly out of Batumi. Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Borjomi. Vardzia, Akhaltsikhe, Kutaisi, Batumi (departure). Olya, feedback from you !!!)
аватар natabebi
mishatour will you rent a car or use local guides by car?
аватар natabebi
ollennka what site are you moving to, if it's not a secret?
аватар mishatour
local guides.
аватар klichko
I recommend visiting the Rabat fortress beyond Borjomi near the Turkish border
аватар ollennka
The city is called Akhaltsikhe. The main thing is not to go there from Batumi, there are a lot of terrible reviews about the quality of the road, on the "puzoterka", they say, you can't drive there. And there’s no way to get through the mud at all.
аватар ollennka
So, I’m briefly unsubscribing about the route in Georgia.
We first flew to Tbilisi, walked around the capital, and then rented a car. And away we go! The ancient capital of Georgia Mtskheta, the cave city of Uplistsikhe, the birthplace of Stalin Gori. Sighnaghi is the city of love and the birthplace of the artist Niko Pirosmani. Kakheti with wineries, Gremi castle, Nekresi and Alaverdi monasteries, Bodbe. In Kakheti, you get lost, whether you are reading geographical names along the roads, or a wine list in a restaurant: Tsinandali, Napareuli, Kindzmarauli, Alazani Valley, Mukuzani, Akhasheni, Vazisubani ... We left Kakheti towards Kazbek along the Georgian Military Highway, along the way we stopped at the wonderful fortress of Ananuri.
аватар ollennka
Well, after the Kakhetian libations, we drank mineral water in Borjomi for three days, simultaneously leaving for Vardzia, Akhaltsikhe, the Khertvisi fortress, and the surrounding monasteries. From Borjomi we moved to Kutaisi - a ugly town, but the nature around is interesting - the Sataplia National Park, where dinosaurs, caves, the largest of which is Prometheus Cave, once inherited. Then we moved to Svaneti, seeing the palace of the princes Dadiani in Zugdidi along the way. In Svaneti, unfortunately, we managed to visit only Mestia, with living in Ushguli there was an overlay, so we didn’t go. But the Mestian snow-capped mountains were enough for a lot of impressions.
The remaining four days were devoted to squash rest in Batumi.
16 days, 2700 photos, 2 extra pounds gained from khinkali and khachapuri, 3 open wines, 1 deep layer of tan. In my opinion, we had a good rest))). If you have any questions, write better in a personal, otherwise I stopped receiving notifications.

Thanks for the answer!!!

For Imereti one day is not enough! She is interesting not only for Sataplia and Prometheus. These are Martvili, Kinchkha, Okatsi, Katskhi pillar, Chiatura - proud of the cable cars and a lot of other interesting things. And the wines: Usakhelauri, Ojaleshi, Tsolikauri, Tsitska, Tvishi... And Racha with her Khvanchkara and Tetra? We must go again.
