Hello. We decided to go skiing with the family. in Gudauri. I don't believe many people like it there. Or maybe I'm already an old woman, for such a dubious vacation (33 years old). Or you need to smoke more there, as in India, so that everything is easier to relate to. Let's go with friends. 5 people January 2011 Hotel "Seven" 3-bed room -180 dollars per day. (I, husband, child) We thought that for such money the hotel would be super! Not great. Long away. Okay. We saw residential sheds nearby (the so-called hotels), compared to them, maybe it’s normal for us. They lived in the "upper Gudauri". Immediately upon checking in, we discovered that the toilet was not working, the water was not flushed, we call the hostess Nino. To which she rudely replies to us: Well, you don’t know chtoli, they lifted the lid of the tank, put their hand in there, pulled it and washed it away !!! ! We are shocked. Are you saying it can be repaired? To our bewildered glances, he says even more sharply: didn't you live in the Soviet Union? we have the same service, you are not in Europe. We kept silent that the prices are not like in the SS. The doors to the balcony did not open, but after the toilet they did not ask for anything. The comrades did not have a TV and smelled bad in the room. Somehow this problem has been solved. About nutrition. We were expecting something like a buffet. And a river of wine. Yep, right now! No one asks you if you eat it - no, they put it on the table and that's it! Breakfast: goat cheese, fritters, tea and coffee. Dinner: soup and potatoes with meat or cutlets. Before the trip, I thought I would get better, but in the end I ate normally only in Tbilisi. Of course, for money and lamb, and khachapuri, and wine, but quite expensive. Of course, in the mountains above everything is always more expensive, but not as much. For example, we bought wine on an excursion for 2.5 GEL per liter, and in a hotel for 18. It was no longer a matter of money, but in principle. For 180 dollars it would be possible to feed normally.
The day of our arrival was mixed up, but oh well. Settled in a "hotel" nearby. We arrive at night from 1 to 2 January. We didn’t sleep for two nights, we fell down. They bring us to the shed (hotel), but we don't care anymore, we fall dead. Woke up around 11 am. We look around. Room 4 beds. VERY close, almost without a passage. We put the suitcase and whoops! the front door no longer opens. There is no place. But there is a shower. The TV on the bedside table is small, like my grandmother had more modern. They went outside and looked around. The beauty! I really love mountains! We decided not to get upset - for one night, after all, we will survive in the shed, and then we will move to the “seven”. We were told to agree on payment for this night on our own. Husband agreed. Day in the barn - $ 150. Nothing less. (Everything is expensive, daragoy, flooding, light, firewood, taxes. (ha ha) I can’t do less, daraga! ). They did not find out what the “hotel” was called, they say, it just opened, there is no name. Then it was called differently. I think they'll figure it out in a couple of years.
Moved the next day. How - read above.
It was a pity for "comrades in misfortune". The guys came with their equipment, tried to move out a couple of times. They even climbed the mountain on foot. Skis and snowboards spoiled on the rocks. But at least we booked through friends. And since our acquaintances did not have time to transfer money to the "hotel", on the third day we left for Tbilisi. The rest were not so lucky, everything was already paid for. But now I know for sure. Neither in Gudauri nor anywhere else in Georgia will there be a normal ski resort for another 50 years for sure. And not because they won't build it. They might build it. But that's what "service" is not understood. The mentality is not the same. They don't really know what service is. They don't want to learn. They don't want to work either. Georgian people are very lazy. I was convinced of this later in Tbilisi. Order is out of the question. Negative impression. Georgian hospitality takes place only if your wallet is opened. (Of course, we are not talking about friends, they are well received there). We were so worried that we would be greeted as relatives, but we would not be able to thank us normally for the hospitality, they brought a bunch of gifts, then we laughed at it for a long time.
In general, the Georgians somehow reminded me of the Arabs - they are constantly trying to deceive you or make money on you. I noticed that the Russians are a little easier on this. And we are ready to spend the excess. We, Belarusians, manage our money a little more rationally. And they are not ready to put up with what they did not receive for "paid". Maybe because our income is much lower. Just about the Europeans are picky. I think a vacation in Gudauri may appeal to unpretentious youth (up to 25 years old) and only if it came out very budget. I won't even go there for free. Really. It's a pity for the time.
