First time in Georgia
After many stories of our acquaintances and friends, we decided to go to Georgia. We flew from Donetsk WIZZ air to Kutaisi, 1h20min. and we are in Georgia! The airport is not big, but compact. The only negative, when they flew away (8.00 am), nothing worked, neither to buy a drink, nor to eat! We left the airport, took a taxi to Tbilisi (260 km), paid 90 dollars. In Tbilisi, they settled in the old city, in the Betsy's hotel (It was founded by an American). Pretty comfortable hotel. Rooms are good, food (breakfast) is also decent. Some rooms overlook Tbilisi, impressive, especially at night, beautiful. The choice of establishments where you can eat well and colorfully is plentiful. First we stopped at an institution (near the "Houses on the Rocks"), where you can taste and buy wine, as well as eat. Young Kindzmarauli was divine : ). For a day and a half of arrival in Tbilisi, it was not possible to see all the sights! The Narikala fortress, the Metekhi castle, the night observation deck (climb on the cable car) are impressive, it also leaves an impression. The glass bridge looks better during the day than at night. It is a pity that we did not visit the famous Georgian sulfur baths. In Tbilisi, we rented a car (Mitsubishi) and went to Kutaisi, stopping along the way, in the city of Mtskheta (founded in the 2nd half of the 1st millennium BC, that says it all). Arriving in Kutaisi late yesterday, we settled in a hotel in the city center, near a mountain river. We had dinner nearby in a local, family cafe, it was very tasty, even chacha seemed like a light drink : ). In the morning we began our acquaintance with Kutaisi, not a big city by our standards, the central part is restored, but not big. After inspecting the central part, we climbed up the mountain to the Bagrat temple, from there a view of Kutaisi opens. The temple is included in the list of world historical and cultural monuments of UNESCO. After that, we went to Gelati, the tomb of the Georgian kings. After visiting all these Orthodox places, you somehow feel different! By the evening we were already in Batumi, or rather near, in the village of Kabuleti. Hotel "Oasis" (with "manners" ala Turkey). We were not lucky, there was a backgammon tournament, there were no free rooms in the new building and we were settled in the old building. The rooms are soviet, and the territory is large, well-groomed, there is a pool, the sea is clean, and even dolphins swam! Batumi, a city of contrast, palm trees, cypresses, the promenade is very long and well-groomed. Here and the old city and the "Soviet" buildings, everything is intertwined. A beautiful botanical garden! Here is a brief impression of Georgia. To be honest, I expected a little more, but I still liked it.
