I was in London in January of this year. Weather - from +3 to +13, cloudy for a few days, sunny for a few days, sometimes light rain.
On various visits, I lived in Mayfair, King Cross, twice Southwark. I decided for myself that in terms of price-quality and optimal location, these are chain hotels in Southwark. I was in Mercure and All Seasons Southwark, both are quite worthy, I can safely recommend. They are five minutes walk from the Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. Southwark Cathedral and London Bridge station for out-of-town trips are also nearby. It turned out that from there you can walk to Hampton Court in half an hour, despite the fact that it would take an hour and a half with transfers by train or bus :)
I want to warn against small inexpensive London hotels "in historical buildings". There are many of them in the area of Victoria Station, King's Cross, Bloomsbury. It's usually crowded there (actually the rooms are 10 m2 each including the toilet), dirty, there is no soundproofing, often the shower is on the floor.

Features of visiting museums - admission to all national museums is free.
It takes at least a day to visit the National Gallery.
At the British Museum, two will not be enough.
Between the galleries Tate and Tate Modern there is a boat (for money). Tate modern - very amateurish.
It is interesting to go to the British Library (next to the St. Pankraz station), there is also a museum where the Magna Carta is stored, admission is free.
It makes no sense to take an excursion to Westminster Abbey - there is a great audio guide in Russian.
There is a very strange exhibition in Kensington Palace now, I regretted the money spent.

A very convenient site for transport in London:
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/
There on the right there is a "Journey Planner" function that allows you to optimally plan a route taking into account the time of day.

Thank you for the answer. And through which travel agency should I go? (I don’t like going to the embassy myself, I know that an interview cannot be avoided)

I don't know for sure, sorry :)
Firstly, I am in Kyiv, and you, I see, in Moscow, and secondly, I only travel to London on my own.
I'm not sure how documents for a visa are submitted in Moscow, but, in my opinion, personal submission is everywhere - fingerprints are taken there and an electronic photo is sent to the database on the spot. travel agency can only help prepare a package of documents.
