You know, it all depends on which countries you are really going to visit. You are required to apply for a visa of the country in which you will be the maximum number of days. If there is an equal amount of time everywhere, then the first Schengen country on the route (and you must enter this particular country).
If you come to Poland with a hotel payment in Austria for 5 days and in Poland for 3 days, your documents will simply not be accepted and sent to Austria.
