I choose a ticket between AirBaltic and Austrian Airlines. Can someone tell me, had experience, ... is it worth giving preference to AirBaltic? Do they have delays or any negative reputation. Or is it worth taking a ticket for Austrian Airlines.??? And second: I never flew with a transfer, but here it will be, the periods are indicated from 30 minutes. until 6 o'clock. What transfer period should be taken so as not to be late for the next flight. I know that in some companies, for example Wizzai, a woman was not allowed to board 50 minutes before the plane departure ... they said that the boarding was over. Maybe it's a limitation, only in this company...? Thanks to everyone who comments.

Why comment, any search engine will give you the cost of flights by these companies, see how these companies fly, where the transfers are. I always look for transfers to be at least 3 hours, but it also depends on the airport. See also the total cost of the flight to Cologne , then to Paris by train. In my opinion, it should be convenient.

I ask about the reputation of the company, the search engine does not provide such information.

For the time ... but two hours is not enough ??? I don't want to waste time. I'm looking at 2 hours for a transfer.

And thanks for the advice, but I rule out the train, I think it’s an extra headache and I’m sure I won’t win in terms of money.

keep in mind - AirBaltic does not include baggage transportation in the ticket price ... if you pay in advance through the website - to the ticket price +29 1 suitcase up to 20 kg one way, at the airport - already 40 euros, at the gate 60 euros ..
аватар Yasemin
+29 euros, of course..

I can say that the reputation of the Austrians is very high, clearly higher than that of the Baltic states. I tried to explain to you that the time reserve for transfers also depends on the airport (its size), where and to which terminal you need to go. There was a case when my friend flew from Miami, the plane was a little delayed and I had to run it in New York in order to catch a flight to Europe. Here I always take a reserve of three hours, and you like it.
For trains, this is not always an extra headache, given that this is Eurorail, for money, I saw this option here on the forum, take a look.

at the expense of docking during a transfer - they flew to NG from Tallinn to Kyiv with a transfer in 30 minutes - at a gallop, but everyone managed. Even buy Riga balms ;-)
took off and landed on time..
By the way, AirBaltic still doesn’t feed everything .. more precisely, they feed, but for an extra money ...

Now I learned that if the first flight is late, then the company is not always responsible? I thought it was only with Wizzair. Tell me, someone had it so that the first flight was delayed and they didn’t have time for the second one. What to do in this case???? I ask only eyewitnesses. Thanks
аватар rayak
Oh.... Thank you.

Yes, with the train, I will also reconsider my position. Just did not understand where to look for a site on the train. Maybe in more detail, if possible. Thank you

it was like that with Lufganza, they flew from Edinburgh to Kyiv, via Frankfurt ... well, what to do .. immediately after arriving at the transit airport, go to the air transportation counter and switch over ...
we had to "walk" for 12 hours... Lufganza, of course, gave out the prescribed food coupons, only there was no place to buy them - everything was closed... miraculously rescued euro coins lying around (they flew from Scotland !!) and the presence of machine guns with food and drink..

The airline is responsible if the ticket is purchased to the final point, even with a transfer. Wizzies are not responsible for being late, because they do not sell "transfer" tickets, passengers buy segments separately. The Austrians and Air Baltic sell.
Both companies have good reputation.
We have already written about luggage and meals.
At the transfer point, you do not receive or check in luggage, you check in at the airport of departure and here you immediately receive all boarding passes, so it takes very little time to transfer. Even half an hour may be enough.
We in Abu Dhabi changed in 40 minutes once, and there are only corridors between gates - kilometers :)

"I know that in some companies, for example Wizzai, a woman was not allowed to land 50 minutes before the departure of the plane ... they said that the landing was over."
There is some inaccuracy here, no one closes the gates for landing in 50 minutes. Perhaps she was late for check-in, it looks like check-in can end up to an hour before departure. BUT! In case of a transfer, registration at an intermediate point is not needed, we run immediately to the landing.

Pachok! I don’t like their Douglases, well, our Carcasses are still tolerable for a short distance. And in terms of time it’s good if everything is on time, but if there is a delay? And wait for the next flight for a long time? My opinion is 2-3 hours left.

Air Baltika had to fly several times (the last time in November 2012) and all the time they were propeller-driven aircraft, very noisy and annoying. On board Air Baltica, you can carry hand luggage of a certain size and weight, a small suitcase for these parameters is included. Hand luggage is free. We have already written about meals on board. Regarding the connecting time, it is worth saying that 2 hours should be enough, and if the connecting airport is somewhere in the Baltics, then one hour is enough. We constantly connect in Paris (Charles de Gaulle) when we fly to rest in the direction of the Caribbean basin and we fit in 45-50 minutes to go from one terminal to another with repeated passage of the flight safety service, the rest of the time for duty free and cafes.

Douglases are not ice, of course. But depending on what to compare. After the Etihads, I don’t like flying with other airlines at all :) The usual 737 Boeing is also not much better than a carcass, IMHO.
In terms of time - if you take a connection, for example, 1 hour, and do not have time, then they will put you on the next flight, which will be in the same 2-3 hours :) And if you have time, you will be able to be there faster.
In general, I think that the author of the question should make a decision based on the price of the ticket and his preferences. Of these two companies on the route from Kyiv to Paris via Riga, I would choose the option that is simply cheaper.

There is a small pitfall here - for Air Baltic you can take the minimum time connection - if the company sells such a ticket, then it considers this option possible, but - if these are holidays and you are late for a transfer due to a delay in the first segment, then on the next plane may simply be corny there will be no seats. Although on normal days this does not happen.

I flew Austrian. There were no delays for a minute.

Thank you all for discussing the topic. I wanted Austrian, but there is already a small selection, you may have to take Lufthansa. Is this normal too???
