Santorini was an old dream, but every time something prevented me from getting here. And here - finally! - it happened. In May, I managed to snatch a week, and my husband and I waved along the route Santorini - Naxos - Mykonos. Our main goal was, of course, Santorini, the blue and white postcard island. And this is where we spent the most time.
In order. Flight. It turned out that it is also possible to fly directly to Santorini, but only from June. Yes, and it will not be possible to combine with Mykonos in this situation. Therefore, we are not very upset. Moreover, the flight is quite comfortable, except for the fact that the night one is a big minus. The night did not sleep that there, that back. Three hours to Athens, then another 40 minutes to Santorini. They don’t even have time to feed properly, they give a bun - it would be better if they poured water. Athens Airport was a pleasant surprise, I was here for the first time. Spacious, not crowded, shops, cafes, free internet for an hour. A very pleasant airport.
Santorini is a tiny island. So tiny that I didn't even think about it. We were in one place, from where you can see the edges of the island - left and right, and the shortest distance is literally 5 km. The view is amazing!
The island is almost without plants. Volcanic or. They say that every tree here is planted by hand. The problem is with water, it is very economical. You can’t drink from the tap - it is purified from the sea. Brackish. You can wash your face and brush your teeth.
The sand is black. Not even sand - pebbles. Pebbles are so cool. But if they warm up in the sun - horror, they bake very much. The sea was brrr cold. But swimming, of course! But how - to come to the sea and not swim ?!
We went everywhere. Were in Fira and Oia, the sunset there is amazing. We were on the red beach, took an excursion-cruise to the volcano - nothing special, but I liked it, oddly enough : ). We stopped by the wine museum, everything is coolly equipped there, you walk with an audio guide and look at the dummies. I highly recommend - who loves sweet wine - Kamaritis. Now I am writing these lines and drinking it. To taste - like Cahors. Sweet red dessert. I love those. Not cheap, 24 euros. But it's only for sale here. I already bought myself a couple of bottles. And their local "Vinsanto" dessert reminded me a lot of the Cypriot "Commandaria", but only it will be tastier.
The hotel is ambiguous. It looked better in the pictures, in fact it is too modest for a 4 * and compact. Although, I think, here all the hotels are, if not chic. But I somehow got used to a different level of 4 *. At first, we were not lucky with the room - they gave it with a non-working air conditioner and right in front of the pool, on the 1st floor. Tormented night, went to change it. Wow, we made it. The other room was already quieter. Soap, gel and shampoo in the room. It's good that the water pressure is strong, I love it. There is no Russian TV. The food in the hotel is poor. As for dinners, we went once for a sample, then we dined in other places. Breakfasts are poor. Of the delicious - only croissants. The coffee is disgusting. I got used to playing the game “pour coffee, pour water” with the machine, but then they still drank normal coffee in another place. In general, the hotel is not very good.
Yes, by the way, all hotels across the promenade from the sea. From the hotel, as it were, the exit immediately eats through or something on this promenade. There are many cafes, but the prices are very high. We got caught once and never went again. It's nice that the hotel, even this, though not very, had its own sunbeds. But I didn’t have to sunbathe a lot - either we went, or it was cold. In general, of course, I expected warmer weather. It's funny, in Moscow there were 30, and we have only 20.
Well, in general, something like that.
