Rate in exchangers: 0.47-0.48 rubles. for 1 V. We took both dollars and rubles, changed rubles, dollars left on duty free. I advise you to try Thai cuisine in different cafes, by sampling you will understand where you will be treated tastier and more sincerely. We took food both in macarons and in the market on the days of fairs (Tuesday and Friday) on the territory of the temple, there are pluses, everything is cooked in front of your eyes and you can try outlandish dishes.
Our young tourists are not afraid to take motorbikes without a Thai license, we did not risk it. We took excursions from our tour operator, but there were many offers from locals with good reviews. I really liked the Thai massage (the price tag is the same for all salons), we went by intuition and did not regret it, they stretched us very well. The rest was a success, they tried to stay at the hotel less, they enjoyed the sea, the sun, nature and exotic cuisine.
So, everything is in order!
1. o. Phuket, Karon beach - they chose to rest on the island, as they had read that beach holidays on the island are much better - the beaches and the sea are cleaner. We did not aspire to the well-known Patong Beach, since we are not lovers of nightlife and noisy entertainment, we chose a hotel located on Karon Beach. Impressions from the sea and from the sand of Karon beach are the best. On the far left side of Karon beach are rocks where you can enjoy snorkelling. In this place, the underwater world is beautiful: many different fish, crabs, jellyfish, starfish of different colors, once a moray eel was seen. By the way, a very beautiful hotel is located in the same part, you can walk along its territory from the beach - two wooden stairs lead from the beach to the jungle up just to its territory.
2. Hotel South Sea Karon Resort 4 * - the hotel is, without exaggeration, good. A $100 deposit is required prior to arrival. It has a convenient location relative to the sea. To a good descent to the beach from the hotel about 10 meters across the road. The hotel does not have its own territory, only the inner territory inside the hotel buildings (if you imagine the letter “O”, then the hotel territory is inside the letter “O”). The interior territory is well decorated, there is a swimming pool, there is a recreation area. The entrance to the hotel, the passage to the pool and further to the buildings - everything is open, without doors. I also note the cozy area in front of the hotel near the roadway - there are no tuk-tuks, merchants and outlets, they start a little to the left and right, in front of the hotel there is a small forest and a good descent to the sea. There are no complaints about the hotel staff, everything was done on time and well. We only had breakfasts - the choice of food is predictable, not big, but good for a hearty meal. I will only note what we ate: soup, scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs, fried bacon, rice (very tasty), pasta, sausages, French toast (croutons in common people), yogurt, fried potatoes, several types of juices, cereal, milk , bakery products, fruits - there were always: watermelons, pineapples, bananas. Near the hotel there are a lot of shops and cafes for every taste. Lunch in a cafe without drinks and delicacies costs an average of 250-300 baht per person. You can save a little on the cost of dinner, as many cafes offer free salads for dinner (sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, cabbage, onions). I will note a few negatives about the hotel that we remember: - we got some kind of defective room 251a, as if it was supposed to be a plus to 251. Its inferiority was that it did not have a normal wardrobe, there was only a niche for clothes in the bathroom. Imagine storing things in high humidity, where wet things practically do not dry, and even in the bathroom, where you go several times a day to wash yourself. Also, there were no chairs or a table in the room, only on the balcony. In general, they adapted as best they could. The room was on the second floor, overlooking the pool. By the way, I no longer noticed that some other Russian tourists were given a room overlooking the pool, only foreigners. Our friends had good rooms, but they were located at the back of the hotel and overlooking neighboring hotels; - mosquitoes tormented us at night, it’s not clear where they came to us from, since we didn’t leave the balcony door open, but they flew in and we had to catch them every day before going to bed.
3. The work of the Paks hotel guide, excursions - I didn’t like the meeting with the hotel guide of the Paks tour operator named Etibar! We were given very little information on excursions, the prices were announced verbally, as if they had just been invented, the attitude towards us was like in a market - just to knock out more money from us for excursions on the first day. We signed up only for an introductory tour, since it was free, and for an excursion to the Semilane Islands, since initially we really wanted to go to them. On the same day, for the sake of interest, we approached the hotel guide Natalie of the Pegast tour operator and talked with her about excursions and about Thailand in general. And here the difference was noticed between our "native" hotel guide and the guide of another tour operator with whom, by the way, we flew to other countries more than once. Guide Natalie of the Pegast tour operator gladly signed us up for her free sightseeing tour, we also bought an excursion from her - a trip to the National Park, I don’t remember exactly its name, something like “Khao Salk”. Excursions to the Semilan Islands from Pegast cost 3900 baht per person, and if we hadn’t bought this excursion from Paks, we would have bought, albeit a little more expensive, this excursion from Pegast, because on vacation it’s important for us the quality of how they bring information and attitude towards you as to tourists - we liked the attitude of the hotel guide Natalie of the tour operator Pegast much more than our "native" hotel guide Etibar of the tour operator Paks.
As a result, we went on two sightseeing tours with tour operators Pegast and Paks. A sightseeing tour with the Pegast tour operator was more interesting for us. Our guide's name was Antonina, she spoke beautifully, interested us, we watched and listened to her very carefully. But on a sightseeing tour with the tour operator Paks, it was Etibar that went with us and here he confirmed our opinion about him, there was little information on the tap, all of it was sucked out of the “finger sucked”, an unrelated text, besides, he was often distracted - like times to solve their problems and claims that tourists voiced to him by phone. I also note the following: during a sightseeing tour with the Pegast tour operator, we were brought to a store selling latex products, where pillows cost 2500 baht apiece, but during a sightseeing tour with the Paks tour operator, we were already brought to another store selling latex products, where pillows already cost 3.900 baht apiece. We bought pillows on the first occasion and were very happy with it!
The excursion to the National Park with the Pegast tour operator was wonderful. I especially remember riding on elephants along mountain paths in the jungle and rafting on rafts through the jungle in a magnificent mountain range.
I also really liked the excursion to the Semilan Islands. Luckily, Etibar was not with us. But we understood that he could not be with us, because some local agency organizes a trip to this excursion, the tour operator delivers only to the pier, and then the local agency is already lucky. A small nuance: we bought excursions at the maximum cost, it could have been a little cheaper, the difference is: in a freebie on board - in free fruits and drinks and in the time during which you are delivered to the islands. In a cheaper version, you are taken on twin-engine boats, and in a more expensive one, on three-engine ones, that is, the time during which you stay on the islands increases. The underwater world and white sand of the Semilan Islands is simply amazing!
And finally, the last thing I would like to note in our trip is that the day before departure, the Paks tour operator sent us a letter about the time when we would be picked up from the hotel and the time of departure from the airport, the letter also contained the phrase they say check us with the data you have . Well, how is it: you fly to rest and you still have to worry about yourself, and indeed, the departure time was indicated not ours, I had to call the tour operator, explain to him about the departure time and flight number, wait for his answer and make sure that the tour operator is wrong , indicated the wrong time for both departure and the time when we would be picked up from the hotel!
The rest of the rest in Thailand on about. We really liked Phuket, we hope to return here someday!
Next time we go to Phuket, we will choose this hotel! Have a nice rest : )
I chose for a long time....I reviewed a bunch of photos on the Internet, in the Tez-tour booklet..... I fell in love with this hotel....I came with my husband and we were horrified: a complete discrepancy between photos and reality !!! ! The official photos are just sweet, but in reality it's dirty, the renovation is not finished anywhere, the food is scarce, every day is the same, no entertainment!!! ! There were ants in the hotel, the mattresses by the pool burst with mud (they tried to wash them before our departure, (the Japanese came the next day) but this did not help them, dry cleaning was shown only !!!! ), I found a cockroach in cereal for breakfast !!! ! I never thought that I would write such a negative review, but such a swindle is unforgivable !!!! ! Do you want to relax with pleasure??? ? DO NOT SPEND MONEY at South Sea Karon Resort 4*!!!!! ! There are much better hotels on Karon Beach, believe me.... do not rush to choose, read the reviews.... and have a good rest!!! !
1. Numbers. We took the most ordinary number. There was a huge double bed, a bathroom, a huge sofa, slippers, bathrobes, a kettle, a hairdryer... while the star rating of this hotel is only 3 stars, and the room looks like all 5. We were on the 2nd floor, so everything was with a balcony OK. He went out to a nearby hotel, but I think that there is nothing wrong with that.
2. Someone wrote about the fact that the pool is dirty. We checked in on December 31st and on January 1st in the evening the water in the pool was really cloudy, because. Jan 1 is a day off. But then I saw that they wash the pool every day with a water vacuum cleaner. But people, you came to the sea, you can swim in the pool in Russia. I never understood people who swim in the pool. Rave!
3. Beach. In Karon Bay, it seems to me that only our hotel had a normal access to the sea, maybe. immediately after leaving the hotel, a wooden bridge was built there, a cat. goes to the beach. In other hotels, just a path in the sand....
4. Sea. Beautiful. The coastline is long and wide. Everywhere I read about the fact that at low tide the corals are exposed and it is impossible to swim. I don’t know how it is in other bays, but there is no such thing on Karon! In fact, there are no fish. I think that you need to go to the Red Sea for the ryuks.
5. Tomorrow in hotels. Again, I will say that this is not Turkey and Egypt. The tables certainly do not break... But this is Thailand. Tomorrow consisted of: several types of cereal, egg dishes of your choice (cooked in front of you), pasta, sausages, cheese, sausage, fruits (pineapple, watermelon, papaya), jam, bread and the ability to make toast from bread.
6. Excursions. We went to only 2 - the Similan Islands and Phao Song (if I'm not mistaken). The first (Similans) is fantastic. The islands are awesome: turquoise sea, huge boulders and vegetation. The Maldives are resting. By the way, the guides say that the rest of the islands are almost the same, only a little worse. Therefore, we decided not to go to others. The islands are located 90 km from Phuket. Ride by boat for an hour and a half. But it's worth it.
The second (Phao Song) included a visit to the city of monkeys, an hour canoeing on the river (very beautiful) and 2 people in a spoon and you are being taken... I even took a nap at the end and riding elephants through the jungle.
In general, if you go to Phuket, then I advise this hotel. Just ask not for the first floor, because. there balconies go directly to the pool....and I feel uncomfortable when you can’t go out onto the balcony and eat calmly, for example, fruit... )))
Guests throw beach towels on the floor (as is customary). Bed linen is generally changed according to a very interesting principle, which we have not been able to understand, it is changed in parts, i. e. on some day, the pillowcases change after a few more days, the sheet, then the duvet cover, and by the last manipulation, the first component remains unchanged.
The advantages of the hotel include: location in a good bay and tolerably cooked breakfasts.
In conclusion, I want to say that we are not the first time in Thailand, and the attitude towards tourists this year is much worse, which makes us think about the next trip to the kingdom of Thailand. Oversaturation with tourists affects everything, in hotels and restaurants, a trip on local tuk-tuks already requires much more money, shopkeepers call exorbitant prices, after which they themselves kick you out. they do not bargain, and the price they ask for the goods is simply shocking.
So they behave not only in the resort area, but also in Bangkok.
