Part one.

I don't know what I liked more, writing stories or reading laudatory reviews about them. . . by all the rules of the genre, there should be a winking emoticon in this place. . . Well, in general, at the numerous requests of my not numerous readers, here my new story.

So, how I went to Joulupukki. Not even the way I tried to go to Joulupukki and what came of it.

My Tanya, known to the reader from two previous stories, "My Italian Holidays" and "True Picture of Cortina", left for permanent residence in Finland. She and her husband tried to persuade me for a long time, and finally, I decided to fly to visit them and celebrate the New Year with them.

I thought there was no better time to visit Finland than the New Year! Of course, I was right, but in part... in other matters, let's go in order.

I arrived in Helsinki on December 31, around 4 pm. Of course, the warmest welcome awaited me.

Tanyusha and Arthur developed a whole entertainment program, and of course, the first point was the New Year's Eve (well, what point should it be if there are only 8 hours left before this very new year ?? ? ).

It must be said that 90% of the inhabitants of Helsinki celebrate the New Year on the main square of the city - the Senate, next to the cathedral. Before going to the square, we walked around the city itself. What a sight it was! ! ! The whole city was lit up like a Christmas tree! Although no, the whole city was one continuous Christmas tree.

Slowly walking, we came to the square at about a quarter to 12, there were a lot of people.

To be honest, I didn’t believe that this was 90% of the entire population of the city, but when I found out that there are as many people living in all of Finland as in Kyiv alone, I realized that a lot of people had really gathered on the square.

There was a concert on the stage, the people around were having fun, someone was singing, someone was dancing, but Tanya and I talked, we haven’t seen each other for a long time! ! ! And Arthur kept looking at his watch, I couldn’t understand in any way, he was in a hurry somewhere or he was waiting for someone ? ? ? It turned out Arthur was waiting for Midnight. It was at midnight that the main thing began, because of which so many people gathered here. The fireworks have begun!

Of course, photographs will not convey all the beauty, all the riot of colors and the fireworks of the Finnish fireworks.

You just have to turn on your imagination and present a picture, or run to a travel agency early in the morning, buy a tour and see for yourself. For my part, I dare to assure you that you have not seen such a salute in our house.

Unfortunately, after the fireworks, the festivities stopped and soon the Senate Square began to empty. We also headed towards the house, where we were waiting for a New Year's dinner and gifts from Santa Claus Joulupukki.

The morning of January 1 began at about one in the afternoon. We decided that there was nothing to lie back on the sofa watching TV, and that there was nothing more pleasant than a walk in the fresh, frosty air, and that I had only come for a week, and that I needed to see a lot of things, and my hospitable hosts had a lot to show me. . . in general, we went for a walk.

I got the impression that any district, or microdistrict, or even quarter of Helsinki is very picturesque, at least we walked the whole block and ended up on the shore of the bay.

The next day, according to the plan, we had a trip to the Finnish dacha and we needed to have a good rest and gain strength for new experiences.
