How can you choose something else?
The second trip to Rukka is over and I already miss it!
This year the choice was between France, Sweden and Lapland.
I left Finland as the last option, given that I have already been to Rukka (Lapland).
I chose a month, read, watched and chose Rukka.
Why, you ask. . .
Because the aura of the New Year and the presence of Santa Claus is felt here literally in everything!
In grandmothers going to the store in small snowshoes and woolen sleeveless jackets with New Year's drawings, in decorations and light bulbs on the street, in snow-covered Christmas trees, in deer that graze on private farms, in crazy hats of neighbors on the lift, in souvenir mugs with painted hares on a sleigh and even in food! what is the cost of river fish in cranberry sauce with small village potatoes in garlic-dill gravy... and donuts ? ! OH! donuts with blueberry jam and glegs poured into a stone mug!
Yes, almost all of this can be found in France and Italy and even Sweden.
BUT! In Finland, you believe in it every second, because here adults begin to feel like children whose old dream has come true.
There is no pathos of France here, no fashionable madness of Italy or the heights of Germany, in Finland there is something else...
Here you don’t have to rush somewhere or prove something... Here you need to slowly and leisurely ride a sleigh with deer, separate dogs in a team, ride snowmobiles or wooden sleds at night among the fir trees in a meter deep snow, eat fish and only fish for dinner, to drink glegs in choke, pulling off the mask frozen to the face at 28 degrees below zero, BUT! The most important thing to do in Lapland is to sit on Santa's lap, pet a white reindeer and watch the sunset on the mountain with a cap of hot chocolate from a thermos. If you add all this to the opportunity to snowboard or ski among the thickets of fir trees without queuing for lifts... you get Paradise, but very cold and not cheap, and what else do you need for a fabulous break from reality?
