Does it make sense to combine Tenerife and Gran Canaria in one trip?
I calculate flight options, and it turns out to be approximately the same in cost - fly to Gran Canaria + fly from Tenerife, or fly in and fly out from Tenerife. Is Gran Canaria worth a visit if we will be in Tenerife anyway?

Well, if you want to see more - combine.
There is a ferry between these islands.

As for me, Gran Canaria is cooler ... original nature, beautiful beaches, good audience, feeding is many times better, prices are lower, service is higher. Tenerife is a hyped snickering conveyor ... and as a result, it is teeming with "ours". As for me, it's better to hang out in Tenerife for a couple of days (visit Teide + Loro Park), and relax in the northern part of the GK (if same-sex adventurers are not embarrassed in one place)). And by the way, an alternative to the ferry is a 30-minute flight 100 euros round trip

Unexpectedly, I will look at Gran Canaria too. Most likely, we will fly to Gran Canaria and fly away from Tenerife. Such rates :-)

What is the budget way to travel around the islands? Are there options to travel around the island, but not to rent a car?

we rented a car right in the port, conveniently inexpensive. Of course, there are buses, taxis ... but the most interesting places cannot be reached by public transport, and taxi fares are strange. Renting a car is ideal to avoid being tied to bus schedules and unspoken locals...and keep in mind that buses don't run at night

Definitely a car. I have never seen such ridiculous prices for car rental anywhere in the world.

A car for rent and a ferry for 2 days to Gran Canaria is enough. The rest of Tenerife, there is so much to see!!!)))

Last time I also wanted to combine Tenerife and Grand Canaria, as a result, all the days were busy in Tenerife. The water park and the relict forest are a must to visit.

I am flying to Tenerife for the 4th time and still have not seen everything - there is something to see. I once advertised Tenerife to my friends, and they went to Gran Canaria - they were disappointed.

I will add, who wants to rent a car and then go to the same Gran Canaria in it - read the contract carefully. In most companies it is not allowed to take the car out of the island, i.e. you rent a car on one island, then rent it, go to another and shoot there again. I do not categorically recommend public transport in the Canary Islands, you risk not getting anywhere at all. You can take a taxi, but carefully read the tariffs and conditions, I have never seen such frank swindlers anywhere else, although I have been living in Spain for 13 years.

Everything was ok with public transport. Buses come and go on schedule. The route grid in Tenerife - wow... it took a long time to figure it out. I managed to get acquainted with the taxi driver before leaving for the airport. We agreed in the evening that he would come for us after midnight at the appointed time. And he did come, did not disappoint :-)

You are very lucky. In Tenerife, only from the terminal stations you can more or less leave on schedule, and how many times the express train to Santa Cruz was canceled without any announcement - and you can’t count!

Thanks I'll know. This summer again in Tenerife. Fall in love :-)

Have a nice holiday! :)

Be sure to visit the Mask. Excursion to whales and dolphins - you will get an indescribable experience.
We went there from Las Americas by bus and bought a tour at the port. So much more profitable.
