From the very beginning, I will make a reservation that the decision to fly to Barcelona for the first time in splendid isolation, not knowing the language at all, was pure gamble. The weather did not add optimism yet: to fly from Kyiv at a temperature of +25 Celsius, the sun, and to fly to Barcelona: +12, rain ...

I want to talk about my purely subjective impressions of Barcelona, because you can read the description of local attractions in any guidebook.

So, in order:

1. I was struck by the airport: cleanliness, order, signs everywhere and polite attendants who quite calmly repeat the answer to your question in broken English 10 times until you understand . The border guard fiddled with my passport for a long time, tried to pick out a visa and passed it through some kind of luminous apparatus, everything turned out to be in order and now the long-awaited stamp in the passport was affixed: you can exhale - I'm in Barcelona! ! ! The baggage claim process was very fast.

. At the taxi rank, no one grabs your hands with the question: Do you need to go? Everything is also calm, people and taxis stand in line, take turns getting into cars and leaving in the right directions. The meter clearly shows how many kilometers and for how much, the trip from the airport to the city to the Barcelona Cathedral area took 25 minutes and cost 26.30 Euros. The first time I came to Barcelona, I decided not to bother with buses and metro.

2. Hotel Suizo, where the room was booked, was located in the very center of Barcelona, on Placa de ”l Angel, 12.10 meters from the descent into the metro Line 4 (yellow) Jaume 1. The hotel is very comfortable, clean, the room is beautiful, with a balcony and a view of the square. Somewhere in the reviews I read about disgusting continental breakfasts in hotels in Spain, but in this hotel the breakfasts were in the format of a very good buffet (all kinds of cuts of ham, sausages, cheese, scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs, vegetables, fruits, yogurts, 6-7 types of bread and pastries, milk, muesli, fruits, etc.

) a hearty breakfast was enough until almost 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Bed linen and towels changed every day! On the day of departure, I left my things for another half a day in the luggage room for free and walked lightly around the city. The best thing about this hotel is that you can walk to any point of interest in a fairly short time. I am satisfied with the hotel! !

3. The Cathedral is very beautiful and peaceful, but why was it possible to enter the courtyard where the famous geese live for a fee (5 euros)? In the cathedral itself - the feeling of peace and some significance of being in it does not leave. Here I spent more than 4 hours, looking at sculptures, wall paintings, stained glass windows, walking around the courtyard and admiring the views from the roof. Once again, I repeat - very, very beautiful.

On the square in front of the cathedral, on one of the buildings, the drawings seemed very unusual, as if drawn by a child, then they told me that these were the works of Picasso.

4. Gothic Quarter, Pedralbes Palace and Pedralbes Monastery. The Gothic Quarter - narrow and very colorful streets filled with all kinds of shops, bars, restaurants, I was very impressed by the sneakers hanging on a rope stretched between two walls on opposite sides of the street. There are quite colorful personalities, but I understand that for the most part they are tourists like me. A lot of greenery and flowers on the balconies and windows. You just need to be extremely careful - there are a lot of thieves of all stripes, and there are just a lot of suspicious individuals. I got my share of the extreme, returning to the hotel from a concert at the Palace of Catalan Music after 12 at night. To put it mildly, it was uncomfortable.

I would like to say a special word about the concert: piano + Spanish guitar + charming voice of the singer (Victor Manuel) - it was something! I didn’t understand a single word from the songs, I listened as if spellbound, where are our Star Factories  . I was struck by the church of St. Mary - stunningly majestic and austere decoration! I got to the ceremony of the Catholic wedding, which took place there. Not far from the church there is a small restaurant Taller and Topas, the grilled seafood there is simply delicious, the portion is huge, I barely mastered it. I visited the Picasso Museum (10 Euros), but since I don’t understand his work (don’t throw slippers at me), then, having honestly wandered around the halls for about 3 hours, I realized that this trip was just for show for me. at the Picasso Museum. But I really liked the Museum of Textiles and Costume (5 Euros), I was in its two exhibition pavilions in the Gothic Quarter and in the Pedralbes Palace.

Very informative and not boring, an interesting observation for me - people in the Middle Ages wore clothes in a size that is unlikely to fit on the current teenager. Interesting dresses, jumpsuits, and in the hall in the Gothic quarter, amazing works of photographers of different years, capturing the most beautiful and unusual models. A hymn to female beauty in all its manifestations. In the Palace, Pedralbes also visited the Museum of Ceramics - interesting, but not as much as in the Costume Museum. The palace itself did not impress with anything other than a stunning chandelier above the main staircase. Monastery of Pedralbes (7 Euro) – very beautiful! The inner courtyard, the museum of church painting and sculpture, the works in which struck me much more than the works of Picasso. If you have time, it's definitely worth a look! And I especially liked the rite of the first communion of children in the monastery church, which I came across quite by accident.

Rambla - I think that it's just the most common central street, just like in any big city. Our Deribasovskaya is in no way inferior. Unless the Rambla is bigger and cleaner. I walked along it and tried to feel its spirit both in the early morning, and in the afternoon and in the evening - nothing The living sculptures were not particularly impressive, because in the morning I saw how the actors put on makeup, dressed, in general, the magic did not work out. Birds and animals in cages - for some reason caused not tenderness, but pity. Flowers, well, like flowers, nothing special for the money that was asked for them . I tried the most delicious ice cream at the beginning of the Rambla, not far from Plaza Catalunya there is a small Italian cafe where the boys - ice cream makers put ice cream in waffle cones with a rose - very beautiful, but delicious, 40 varieties of ice cream - this test is not for the weak female psyche!

The problem of choice - at that time was the most important problem in my life And the Boqueria market is something! I actually thought that Odessa Privoz is a color! But Bokeria is just a bomb. Those who are trying to lose weight should not go to such a place! What I just didn’t see there: strawberries at 1.99 euros per kg, cherries, peaches, apricots, mangoes, papaya, coconuts, dates, raisins, all kinds of nuts, melons, watermelons, tomatoes, asparagus, various salad herbs, etc. Near the counters with jamon and cheeses, one simply begins to feel dizzy from the abundance of their types, varieties and prices. Seafood is a different story, I have not seen such different marine inhabitants and in such huge quantities anywhere else. It seems that the buyers are so hungry that they sweep everything in incredible quantities.

I also succumbed to the temptation and picked up all kinds of fruits, raisins, dates like the last time According to taste sensations - strawberries are so-so (my dad's dacha tastes better and smells like strawberries, not grass), peaches are fragrant, juicy, all smeared in juice , while enjoying their divine taste, dates are just a dump of the head, but why can’t we bring such ones to us? , apricots, watermelons, pineapples - in principle, like apricots, watermelons, pineapples. An exotic fruit called "dragon eye" liked the look more than the taste. Having reached for cheeses, I tried 15 varieties, all very, very tasty, melt in your mouth and leave a divine aftertaste. I am not a meat eater, so I tried several varieties of jamon so, for show - very, very good I want to say that almost every day began with a trip to the market - what could be better than the freshest bread with fragrant cheese or jamon for the 2nd breakfast and fruit to go.

I didn’t drink freshly squeezed juice, because I accidentally peeped how it is made from yesterday’s and the day before yesterday’s leaking fruits

6. Immortal creations of Gaudi. It is simply impossible to come to Barcelona and pass by the houses designed and built by Gaudí . The luxurious Passeig de Gracia, where the most beautiful houses of the city are concentrated, and, it seems to me, not only in Barcelona, but throughout Europe, is amazing. Each house, balconies and curlicues on them can be viewed for hours. The queue to Casa Batllo (ticket 17.8 Euro) took 40 minutes, but it was worth it: the house, which has practically no right angles, ceramic tiles and mosaics used in the decoration, enchants, the roof, similar to a dragon's back, just asks, to be stroked La Pedrera (ticket 10.0 Euro) known as a quarry, deafens with its unusualness. Chimneys like sentries, magnificent views from the roof, interesting interiors open to the public.

The most interesting thing is that local residents live on the floors closed to tourists. I would not want to live in a house where crowds of tourists roam from morning to evening. But of course, Sagrada Familia (ticket 12.0 Euro) is the most famous Cathedral of Barcelona. Not just huge, but deafeningly huge! ! ! It seems to me that it will be built for at least another 50 years! A little hint: once inside the cathedral, do not stand in line near the main entrance at the elevator, in order to go upstairs, after walking around and gawking at the cathedral inside, exit from the back of the main entrance and see another elevator (ticket 2.5 Euro), near which there is no queue. It is definitely worth going upstairs - the beauty is indescribable, the views are wonderful, the center of Barcelona is at a glance. Another creation of Gaudi, which made an indelible impression on me, is the current Hospital of St. Paul and the Holy Cross, which is within walking distance from Sagrada along Gaudi Avenue.

When I saw this masterpiece, I could not believe that patients are really being treated there at the present time, it seems to me that the environment itself has a beneficial effect on the state of health . Separately, it should be said about Park Gü ell. I got there by subway to the station. Lesseps (line 3 green), from there, follow the signs on foot for about 20 minutes to the park, although the path goes slightly uphill, but in principle, there is nothing wrong with such an ascent. The park is beautiful! (the entrance is free). Not a single guidebook conveys this feeling of admiration that seizes you when climbing to the terrace past the famous lizard, a feeling of lightness and grace inherent in the galleries of columns, along which you can wander for hours. The views from the upper terraces of the city are the most beautiful! The number of photographs per square meter can be safely entered in the Guinness Book of Records.

Numerous guitarists and dulcimer players play in the park, Arabs in the square in front of the famous bench sell all sorts of crap right from the floor, but with toilets, sorry, there were problems in order to get into the coveted booth in the queue for 30 minutes.

7. Plaza de Españ a, Montjuic, Magic Fountains. In my opinion, Plaza de Españ a is the most beautiful square in Barcelona, I returned to it four times during my stay in the city! ! ! Seeing the tower of la Giudecca in Venice, it was very curious to see its two smaller copies. The most beautiful Palace on the hill, now the Art Museum of Catalonia, amazing and majestic! ! ! And as the crown of all this beauty, with the onset of twilight, cascades of fountains with all kinds of lights and water ejections turn on. Spectacular spectacle! ! ! Especially when the fountains beat to the music! ! !

Note to tourists - pickpockets and other gopniks work here just insolently, so don't yawn, carefully look after your bags and cameras. I myself saw how a tourist girl was surrounded by 4 boys and snatched her purse, having moved 5 meters away from her, they pulled out a phone and a wallet from which they took money from the bag, put cards and documents back into the bag and put it on the lawn. None of the people around reacted to this situation (I saw the entire described picture through the camera screen). The day of my visit to Montjuic can be called my day of topographic idiocy. I managed, just don't throw slippers at me, get lost on Mogtjuik as many as 4 (four!!! ) times! I got to Montjuic by cable car, the station of which was in Barceloneta (9 Euros). It is worth a ride just to enjoy the stunning views of the port and the city during the movement of the swinging cabin.

Arriving at Montjuic, the main thing, unlike me, is to find your bearings in which place you are and move towards the fortress, and not incomprehensibly where along beautiful roads. After wandering for 2 hours and breathing plenty of air, I went to the Telerifika station (9 euros round trip), which brought me safely to the fortress. The fortress is like a fortress, the views of the port area and the city are beautiful, but they cannot be compared with Tibidabo ! I liked the kitty dozing peacefully on the fortress wall, among the crowds of people. That's who you need to learn peace of mind Due to the fact that I got lost and lost a lot of time, unfortunately, I did not have time to get to the Joan Miro Foundation, but I captured a cute owlet at the entrance. I stared at the Olympic stadium, the bowl for the Olympic flame and was stunned by the most beautiful TV tower. Well, the final part of the program that day was the Spanish Village for me (8.

9 Euro) Here, for the first time in my life, I saw how tangerines grow, I could not resist, pulled one - ki-and-isly. In fact, the Spanish Village is a nice place where you can see in miniature the architecture of all the provinces of Spain, if it weren’t for the rain, you could wander around it longer. In the buildings themselves, except for souvenir shops at space prices, there is nothing interesting. I liked the shop with all kinds of hand-made chocolate and sweets: I bought beautiful and tasty souvenirs for my friends there. (From 0.5 to 1 euro per candy! ) Unusual sculpture of a driven horse reminded me of myself after a hard day or a few days of outdoor activities

8. Tibidabo. I decided to get to Tibidabo by Tibibas from Plaza Catalunya, since I didn’t take any excursions on BasTuristika, I thought that Tibibas (5.

2 Euro round trip, you buy tickets directly from the driver) will be a great opportunity to look at the city from the bus window. Half an hour of the road in the city and along the serpentine outside the city, and stunning views from the mountain to the city and the sea open before your eyes. I agree with everyone who unsubscribed earlier that here the panorama of the city is the most breathtaking! Entrance to the amusement park cost 25 Euros, but this is an entrance ticket to all levels of the park. The Temple of Christ on the mountain is striking in its majesty, and naturally, the ascent (2 Euro lift + further up the stairs) to the highest accessible point of the temple was the culmination of this beautiful day. Despite the strongest wind, I climbed the terraces of the temple for more than 1.5 hours, the photos turned out to be gorgeous, and the picture before my eyes is so impressive that even now, if you close your eyes, you see Barcelona in the palm of your hand.

In principle, if you are very hungry, you can eat in the amusement park with local fast food (I was not seduced at all), but it is better to do this when you return to the city.

9. Coastal zone, aquarium and Ciutadelia Park. The biggest disappointment for me was the Aquarium, having defended a 50-minute queue at the entrance, I expected more! ! ! The aquarium personally reminded me of a large fish supermarket! It seemed to me that visitors would now begin to choose each fish in their ear, and somehow it was very uncomfortable there. As a citizen of Odessa, I really liked the coastal zone and the port , I especially dreamed about my own yacht moored in the port of Barcelona. Everywhere is clean, there are a lot of unusual sculptures, starting from the head of Liechtenstein and ending with a pretty couple sitting on the parapet. Barcelona fish is something! , especially in sunny weather, when you can let sunbeams from a pocket mirror on it.

A sculpture of the type of some stationery, located behind two skyscrapers, looks very unusual. Well, I can watch the sea in any weather for hours ...I would like to note the cleanliness of the beach, the presence of public toilets and numerous cafes on the waterfront. True, in order to have a delicious and inexpensive meal, you should move a block away from the Barceloneta embankment and sit down in one of the restaurants. You can have a great lunch by choosing two dishes from the menu of the day (I ate Dorado fish with some unusual sauce and vegetable salad) + the price includes dessert and coffee (cappuccino) - all this pleasure costs 13 Euros, it is worth noting that the portions are huge , one serving may well be enough for two average eaters Probably the only hill in the city that I did not climb was the statue of Columbus. The port area looked very beautiful during a boat trip along the port water area (6.

5 Euros), if not for the drizzling rain…. Ciutadelia Park is located near the port, but to enter it, you need to go around the fences from the side of Barceloneta for a long time. The park is extraordinary, the fountain is magical, striking in its dissimilarity to all the fountains I have seen so far! Gaudi is a talent from God, because only a genius could come up with and implement such ideas. I did not go to the zoo, I was afraid of disappointment as from an aquarium. The castle in the park is like a toy, and I found very unusual lanterns near the Parliament of Catalonia. The alley leading to the triumphal arch was full of skateboarders and cyclists. The arch itself is a majestic building made of red brick, as for me, it looks somewhat alien in Barcelona.

10. Montserrat. Being in Barcelona and not visiting Montserrat is a crime!

How to get from Barcelona to Montserrat: in Plaza de Españ a, to the right of the right Venetian Column, you go underground and follow the signs to the commuter train station R5, getting lost in principle is very problematic. In order to save time, I decided to go there - train + cable car (9.05 Euro), back - cramalera + train (8.40 Euro), however, this option turns out to be somewhat more expensive than the one when you take round-trip tickets on one type of transport . Honestly, at the station I tried to deal with the machine that sells tickets, but the attendant, seeing my unsuccessful struggle with the infernal machine, kindly offered me his help. Everything would be fine, but he understood and spoke exclusively in Spanish Having repeated the cherished Montserrat - aeri several times, I received my coveted ticket for the train and cable car.

Advice to all those traveling in Spain: always keep your tickets until the end of the trip, because the control there is total - you won’t get on the platform without a ticket, the good uncle controller will definitely check your ticket on the train itself, and you can often get off the platform upon arrival at your destination, only by passing the ticket through a special turnstile. The road itself takes about an hour by train + 10 minutes by cable car, the schedule is very conveniently drawn up - the cable car and the cramalier are clearly joined with the arrival of the train. Arriving at the Montserrat Aeri stop, and going out to the lower station of the cable car, you are amazed at the extraordinary silence around. I raised my head up - and there were mountains in thick fog, I immediately remembered the warnings that the cable car does not work in bad weather. A few unpleasant minutes, and then a pretty yellow cabin appears, into which everyone who wants to get on the mountain plunged. T. to.

I arrived by the first train, which left the Plaza de Españ a at 8.36, then there were very few people who wanted to. Feelings when the cable car crashes into the fog at full speed are, to put it mildly, dumb, but when you swim out of the fog, the beauty that surrounds you is breathtaking. It feels like you are floating above the clouds. Having orientated on the terrain, you need to quickly go to the Basilica (the right door from the main entrance along the corridor) to see the wooden statue of the Virgin Mary, kiss the ball she holds in her hand, and make the most cherished wish. I will definitely check whether it will come true or not. At 10.30 access to the Virgin Mary will be closed and will open right after 2 pm. You can’t take pictures of the statue, and I didn’t. After the Virgin Mary calmly examined the Basilica, the decoration and furnishings amaze with their richness and majesty.

After visiting the Basilica, quickly go to the Funicular station, these stations are 2: the upper funicular and the lower funicular. It is cheaper to buy tickets for both funiculars at once (9.10 Euro). On my arrival, due to fog, the lower funicular started its work only at 2 o'clock, in addition, it should be noted that from 1 to 2 in the afternoon the funicular has a lunch break . Climbing the funicular up, you can go up 3 walking routes (they are marked on the signs), we went to the right to the chapel, so as not to repeat the word beautifully, I will say that the views from the mountains are simply breathtaking, I want to take pictures after each turn of the path, inhale the purest mountain air and just enjoy life! Having reached the ruins of the chapel, and seeing that there was plenty of time until one in the afternoon, we decided to go further through the bushes, the path became less and less passable and more and more picturesque.

After lunch, with a bag of honey and cheese at the ready, I undertook to conquer the hiking trails of the lower funicular. Thank God, the gym was not in vain, but honestly, the route is much easier than the one at the top. A beautiful path, interesting sculptures on religious themes every 100m of the path, and, finally, the chapel itself, standing on the site of a cave where, according to legend, a statue of the Virgin Mary was found. The fact that the landscape around was dazzlingly beautiful can not even be repeated. The whole route was covered in just an hour. The way back to the railway station was interesting: at the Kramalera station near the monastery I bought a Kramalera + electric train ticket, plunged into Kramalera (a kind of train adapted for movement along a mountain road) and continued to enjoy the views outside the window. You need to listen carefully to the name of the stops, because the stop to go to the railway station is one after the start of the journey (the final one).

You should definitely visit the Girona Cathedral - you feel like such a small, small insect in it, there is quite an interesting museum at the Cathedral; It is worth walking along the fortress wall and looking at the city from above. A trip to Girona is a day of relaxation, walking at a leisurely pace, inhaling the scent of flowers, taking pictures, and just having fun.

12. Tarragona. I bought a round-trip ticket (11.60 Euro) for an electric train to Tarragona at the ticket office for trips to medium distances along the already familiar route at the Sansts station. I took a map of the city in the same way as in Girona at the station at the information desk. Tarragona is an antique shop. The pretty ruins of the ancient Roman city can be seen just by walking around the city. I bought one general ticket to visit all the "ruins" in a crowd (10 Euros, if you pay separately for each - 3.5 Euros) and go.

The remains of the forum did not impress at all, but I really liked it inside the fortress wall. The Roman amphitheater on the seashore strikes on the spot with its antiquity, the imagination instantly turns on, and you begin to draw pictures of bygone days. Tarragona has the largest cathedral in Catalonia, in which I managed to get lost, and the search for a way out impressed me much more than the beauty of the Cathedral itself. The sea in Tarragona is blue - blue, the view of the bay is extraordinary. In Tarragona, on the square in front of the local "executive committee", I ate a delicious paella with seafood during a siesta. The proportion of rice - seafood - 50 to 50! But the portion for one is just huge! , the waiter looked at me in bewilderment when I asked to remove the half-empty plate. Dessert Crema Catalana just melted in your mouth, it's a pity that it was inconvenient to lick the bowl of dessert.

13. General practical advice and impressions from the trip.

The city is strikingly clean. Every 50 m there are garbage cans and in each bag for garbage. There are very few cars compared to Odessa or Kyiv, but there are a lot of motorcycles and cyclists. Everyone drives in a disciplined manner, letting pedestrians pass, no one shouts at you from the vehicle: Why are you up, where are you going, etc. Quite expensive public transport fare - 1.40 euros for a single trip and 7.85 euros for a ticket for 10 trips. Controllers and security officers in transport work constantly, the fines for ticketless travel are huge. The locals are friendly and smiling, even if they do not know the language in which you address them, they will try to help and suggest with gestures. A lot of obese people, well, of course, with such portions in the local catering . As for shopping, you can buy leather shoes and bags of local production of very decent quality quite cheaply.

I went into a boutique with Furla bags, well, my hand didn’t rise from me to pay from 300 Euros for a handbag. Food is quite expensive, but if you eat well at breakfast in a hotel, you can get by with just one more meal during the day, and the rest is ice cream, fruit, etc. You can pay in all stores and even in markets with a bank card, most importantly, that the card was with a photo, otherwise they require a passport.
