Is it difficult for elderly people to make their way to Petra in the August heat?
We are going to the Hilton at the end of August. And one more thing: how much does it cost to make this journey in a wagon?

Have you been warned that the Hilton is right on the border?
To the question of whether it is difficult for older people to go to Petra in the August heat - the work is of medium severity if you easily endure the heat and climb the mountain. It is really beautiful and unforgettable there, and the difficulty of the path is worth the walk. Don't forget to wear a hat, comfortable non-parking shoes and a bottle of water. Although the water will heat up during the hike, you will be able to moisten your throat, since there is nowhere to buy and drink water. In Petra, the Arabs offer tea, but the look of the store and the environment of not pure Arabs completely discourages thirst for many.
It is not expensive to make the way to the wagon, about 10 dollars, but they can demand any amount from you that they want.
Riding on a cobbled road in a wagon may not benefit an unaccustomed body. In addition, the specific smell from animals forbidden in the wagon adds spice to the trip.
It is better to go down on your own, and climb back on the wagon.
Have a good trip.

It’s always cool in Petra, it’s high in the mountains, it can also rain :-) I was in Movenpick, it’s next to the Hilton, I really liked the proximity to the border, there is at least some kind of life, unlike the port area and the rest hotels where there is nothing. I recommend buying an excursion to Petra from Pegasus: Saturday is Pegasus day and there will be no one on the ferry shelter of your group, you will go at ease. Walking around Petra is a pleasure, here is my review and photo

Super, you are lucky, we rested in this hotel with a 4-year-old son and were very pleased, though we did not go to "Petra" and we decided to go to Israel to the Dead Sea and visit the most holy places, we took the tour not in hotels but outside it met an Arab so he bought us juices for a child 3 times cheaper

Many thanks to all who responded. Taboo we chose because of the proximity to the border. Last year we went to Jerusalem for 2 days with Teztur. Everything was wonderful. We decided to go back to Jerusalem. Or Jerusalem + Petra. We don't know what to choose. Traveled from Sharm. It's more difficult. But it's worth it! I recommend to anyone who hasn't been. Happy travels!
