Has anyone had experience traveling with children in the winter?
Good day! Tell me, who went with children to Sharm (and indeed to Egypt) in winter? January February. It seems like they have already decided, but everyone around is beginning to dissuade because of a sharp change in climate, they say 6 that they just ruined their vacation. I would like to read the real stories of people who rested during this period. Was there acclimatization, if so, what should be done? Child 4 and a half, his first flight.

Offtopic. "everyone around is starting to dissuade." What do you care about everyone around? First of all, you should be interested in the opinion of the pediatrician. The consequences of acclimatization may not always be obvious and immediate. And the memories of the rest at such a tender age will not even be preserved.
аватар mindguru
There is an acclimatization period in any case. Adults, as a rule, endure acclimatization without any difficulty (although there are exceptions here). Children endure much worse: the younger the child, the harder it is for him. And despite this, some especially gifted parents drag even children up to a year old with them to Egypt! So the fears of your friends are primarily related to this. A child at 4.5 years old is already old enough for his first flight, so fly calmly and do not be afraid of anything. Have a nice holiday!

We don’t go to the pediatrician Ollenkka) only if we are really sick at all and we can’t cure it on our own. And especially in such a period when the flu and any infection, I don’t see the point in standing in line just to ask “can I go or not ... And moreover, those who have never been abroad themselves, let alone with children..
You just know, there is such a human factor, when the more people are dissuaded from something, the more you begin to doubt "is it really necessary to do this."

Mindguru thanks) it's just that many people are so negative about traveling from winter to summer, maybe I would like to hear real stories. Maybe someone had unpleasant cases .. To at least know what to prepare for.

"We don't go to the pediatrician"
Mamma mia, just don't say that you don't get vaccinated either))))
I'm an adult, but almost every flight from winter to summer and back is accompanied by a week-long cold. And a flight through 4-5 time zones results in at least two days of malaise, like with a hangover.

There were bad times, and there were good ones.
You have to be prepared for everything, but you can't prepare for everything ;)
Much depends on the child and his immunity.
It's like going to kindergarten, one child got sick and most of them got sick, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go to kindergarten, does it?
Personally, I am against taking a small child for the first time from winter to summer, but this does not reduce the number of children on airplanes in winter. This is your personal responsibility. If you don't care about the pediatrician's opinion, then it doesn't matter what strangers say.
And there will certainly not be a clear opinion.

We flew twice in December-January, once in October. Our child is ok. January was 5 years old. There was no acclimatization. This was the second flight. First at 4 years old. It's always good. But all children are different. A friend of mine flew with two, one a year old, the other 6, and both of them were sick all the time. Nobody but you knows how strong your child's body is.

We flew in November, the child was 5 years old. Everything went perfectly. For many, acclimatization also happens in our sea.
аватар elena_igo
October-early November is considered quite a normal month for flying with children to the Egyptian sea. Acclimatization is just minimal - it is not very cold here yet and the body has not rebuilt in the winter, and there it is no longer exhausting heat, but comfortably warm.
We flew last year exactly at this time - great!
A flight from winter to summer for the age of 4.5 years is also quite acceptable, but in this case it is better to plan a vacation for a longer time - for three weeks. Within a week, the child will come to his senses and then he will be able to rest normally. I would not drag it for a week or choose another period, for example, March-April-May.
By the way, about the summer, at this time to go with children in the sweltering heat under the scorching sun ... for me it’s not at all better than flying in winter.

Three children of different ages, we fly constantly to different countries with and without children. The average of us has been actively traveling since the age of 12 (now he is 12.5), the youngest is 2.5 months old (now she is 6 years old). Acclimatization is absolutely always, even if you fly in the summer to Turkey or Greece ... Those from summer to summer. If the child is healthy, then you may not even notice the acclimatization. Sometimes, on arrival, the child is active and cheerful, and on the first day rose t-ra, and then all the rules. There was rising only in the evening, gave nurofen. During the whole time of our travels it was twice, but my daughter was 2.5 and 4 years old (here in Turkey. In Egypt, whoa, whoa, not to mention) the children have never been sick (except for a mild disease) upset stomach, drank nifuraxazide, but it's from their water ... I have this in Egypt and my husband happens). I do not recommend children to sing to him in the winter for another reason, my cold, they are cold.
They do not bathe, sit with beeches (went with them in January, then in March after 15 ...)

I will continue. Now we go at the end of April with the transition to May, that's what we need !!! It’s still good in September, October, but somehow it doesn’t work out ... Either school, then university, then something else ....

T9 worked on the text, but everything is clear :)

We flew in February, the children are 12 and 4, they endured normally, but it all depends on the child, I know that my children are hardened, they get sick to a minimum in the garden, their immunity is not suppressed by medicines, therefore I take such trips calmly, see for yourself if you get sick from each draft, then it will definitely be stress for the child. Well, look at the place, in the first days it is advisable not to swim in the sea, limit yourself to the pool (for children) and drink activated charcoal for prevention in the first days.

We were in December and there were FEW children on the plane. It's cold for me. And so that they don’t talk about water +23 and about the weather. Winter in Egi is cold for many adults, and even more so for preschoolers. Were in Naama, it's cold, and if in other bays, I can't even imagine. Children should be taken in October-November, April-May, BUT THE PRICE IS HIGHER.

flew but the new year (this one), a child of 9, did not notice any acclimatization with her at all, but upon arrival home I sat in a blanket for two days (I could not get warm).
аватар 5dddd
we fly without problems without acclimatization, also many dissuade and do not advise. Only children made their first flights from the age of 5. Moreover, the youngest in the garden goes to the hospital in a week, and now he has been 11 days old and everything is fine for 3 days. The sea is now cold and strong winds, the children were sitting in the heated pool more than at the sea.
аватар lina.fursova
Thank you very much for sharing your experience)) our child, pah pah, rarely has a cold. Therefore, accordingly, he rarely drinks medicines. And in Ukraine, we can still swim in September, if the weather permits, of course. The child is not an indoor flower, we do not like the heat as a family, so February is perfect for us. Our maximum is +30. Then it's torture.
Once again, thank you all, we hope our holiday will be uneventful)

We flew in December 2018 with a child of 4.5 g (his first flight). He endured everything perfectly, there was no acclimatization. But I was 3 days with a temperature of 38. And I always have. So everything is individual. The child swam in the warm pool all day, the sea is cold. In the evening in a jacket and sneakers. Great vacation turned out, were 10 days. Before the rest there were constant snot, the throat hurt. Warmed up in Egypt, everything passed))

We flew 2 back. daughter 3.5, first flight. Everything went fine, although I was talking about medicines for all occasions! By the way, monitor the topic of the place from pharmacies - cheap and very high-quality medicines are here. In addition to her joy that it’s cold here, and it’s summer here, there was nothing and, apparently, the transition of the belts softened the delight) well, and the daily routine went astray, unfortunately. In the evening they put on a blouse and a windbreaker, incl. and me, but we are heat-loving) the sea is cool at 25, so the pool from 28 interrupted everything). But, they tried to go to the beach every day: water, sand, air ... next time I want a 10-12 day tour in order to have time to walk everywhere.

Sorry, there is no way to correct errors (((

Was on New Years.
I swam in the sea only once in a week. As for me, in January the water in the Red Sea is cold. And windy.
Rest is pleasant if you just bask in the sun, eat seafood, drink juices...
At 9 am it's still cold, but at four it's already cold))

The first time I flew with a child (almost three years old) for a week. Everything went great, but, however, it was the end of February, it was still warmer) We recently returned from Sharm (they were from January 8 to 15). The child is big already, of course, 11 years old, but everything went well too. Look at YOUR child. You know him better. Someone has acclimatization from summer to summer, but someone doesn’t care at all

We are one of those "crazy" who do not understand why, contrary to all the recommendations of prominent luminaries, and simple "knowing" drag the baby with us since 1.5 years.
It was different, once an ambulance even took a baby with a temperature to Sharik (he ate ice cream - his throat), but basically everything was OK. Of course, there will be adaptation (and everyone has their own), I would advise you to fly for at least 10 days. And without trying, you will not understand how your baby is and you will adapt. We found our recipes for adaptation for ourselves. You have a good rest and do not worry, tune in to the positive and it will definitely be)))

T 9 knows what Sharm is)))

Lina, where are you going to stay?
аватар Alex714
Look at the bloggers, there are a wagon and a whole cart of them on YouTube now, and draw conclusions based on personal and your family preferences.
For example, this one, at the moment in Hurghada, at the 12th minute they are bathing their daughter (almost two years old).

The link is not opening. . But I guess, there is most likely Alexey Krylov))
аватар Alex714
Pleased. :))

Krylov is generally a positive guy! He is good everywhere! He goes to the most budget hotels (for the sake of interest, I look through them and understand that I won’t go there even for 600 ye for 12 nights).
