imho it is not convenient to snorkel in a vest, as it is intended for rescue, i.e. so that your head is above the surface of the water. It will also slow you down and hamper your movement and you will be more tired. If you do not move, you will not get tired, but then you will freeze quickly. The minimum set for snorkeling is a mask, snorkel and fins. The suit is highly recommended. And another cool thing is a full-face snorkel mask (but not a Chinese fake). It has a special valve that blocks water from flowing into the tube and you can breathe through your nose in it. But diving is not comfortable.
