Should I take a tour of the pyramids?
Already bought tickets to Egypt. We will be there as a family in early March. Should I take excursions to the pyramids or others that go beyond the boundaries of the hotel site (sea does not count) due to the political situation?

Visiting excursions at your discretion. Tour operators recommend spending holidays within the hotel and refraining from unorganized trips to the city and beyond.

It's up to you to decide. All excursions are currently working. At the moment the situation is calm. And the rest is your desire. There will be a lot of advice and opinions. But it's up to you.

It’s better to relax in a hotel, and look at the pyramids when the country is calmer.

We went to see the pyramids from Taba, on our 6th visit to Egypt, because. in this "lunar area" it was quite dreary! Conclusion: they weren't - and they shouldn't be! It is better to plan this excursion individually to see the main masterpiece - the Cairo Museum. He has the least amount of time and energy left. "A gallop - through the Egyptian non-Europeans!". A day on the road, and you also pray to return alive with their debiloid carriers, who at night greet each other with a terrible howl of a horn and flashing headlights! The pyramids of the century stand - and they will stand still, they will wait for you! I support Lina23S 100%!

pora-vTur You wrote that tour operators recommend spending holidays within the territory of the hotel and refraining from unorganized trips to cities and beyond.
But unorganized trips, as I understand it, are to go by ourselves. The tour is an organized trip. Do not mislead people...
But it's up to you to decide whether to go or not...

So far it is really better to "guard the hotel" and yourself. Tours can wait!

Arrived yesterday from there. My son went on an excursion to Cairo - everything is fine there, the pyramids and the museum are open. The country lives normally, but we are shown some kind of horror. They themselves flew frightened, but when they arrived and saw the situation, they calmed down. Went for a walk outside the hotel every day - everything is calm. So do not worry - go on excursions.

Honestly? All of us are great! The Cairo Museum was closed only on the 25th on the occasion of the anniversary of the revolution. And what you have on TV is one thing, but what is actually another.
Our tourists the last days only choose trips to Cairo. I don't even know why. After all, everyone is so afraid! Everything is calm, everyone likes excursions. So there are no problems. On the other hand, anything can be dangerous. We have more crime in Ukraine and Russia in a week than here in a year. So you can be afraid at home. And the fact that it’s another country, so by itself go on an excursion, but rather fly by plane, although it will be more expensive, you won’t have to go through a long bus trip and plus the tour will not tire you so much. Enough strength for the museum and the pyramids, and bring home much cheaper souvenirs.
And of course, do not listen to anyone, but do as you see fit.
