Truthful information about the situation in Sharm El Sheikh
Gentlemen, I do not want this topic to become another topic for abuse. I am writing exclusively for TOURISTS who doubt or are afraid to go to Egypt, having read God knows what on the Internet.
1) Yes, indeed, now Hosni Mubarak is in the Sharma clinic around which, indeed, security is lined up around the perimeter every 2 meters. But! There are no strikes, rallies and other protests there!
I also confirm that a large part of the population is not happy with him as president, so I admit the possibility of such speeches. However, I consider them no less safe than the Maidan in Kyiv in 2004.
2) The fact that there is no police is not true. There is one! There are checkpoints and patrols on cars and motorcycles, but there are not as many of them as in the past, when Egypt was essentially a police state.

3) Yes, indeed, there are practically no tourists in Naama Bay in the evening. We can say that there are only merchants. Most shops are closed for this reason. However, walking in the evening (IMHO) is still safe there. I did not meet a drop of aggression or discontent from the local population. On the contrary, everyone tried to almost kiss your heels, if only you just went into his store. Prices have become outrageous. Back in the summer, I could not lower many positions to the desired level, when now I did it without haggling for a long time.
4) With food at the hotel (I vacationed at Sunrise Diamond Beach) as in the best of times. The hotel has reduced prices and in May was actually packed at 100%. 69 people (2 buses) only from our plane and only from Anex-Tour. The Tez-tour arrived in 2 hours, I don’t know how many tourists they sent there. However, with all this, the food was just a shaft. There were no interruptions in water, electricity, food and drink supplies and everything else! Another good news is that not a single Muslim family was seen in the hotel. No one dressed in bassiks swam and did not walk in a veil. Therefore, do not sum up the situation happening in a particular hotel as systematic or common.

5) Morka, as always, is beautiful. All beaches are open, but they are fenced with buoys where you can swim (but this was the case in all the hotels where I rested, even before the sharks). True, there are many jellyfish, but they do not sting))). The presence of warships was not noticed for 6 days. On the seventh day in the morning there were already two of them. We had only an underwater camera with a fixed focus at hand, so we could not shoot the boats with good quality. The next day, a yacht was taken for individual use on which we sailed from Ras-muhamed to Nabq-a. It turned out to see dolphins was much more real than a warship. I didn't manage to take a picture of it because it was NOT there!!! not in any bay that day!

6) The crisis is visible in all areas. A lot was tied to tourism, especially in Sharm. Many banks do not work, casinos and restaurants are empty. An excursion from Sharm to Jerusalem is already offered for 75 dollars, a taxi is ready to go for 5 bucks from Naama to any direction, even to Nabq, where in the best of times no one went for less than 15 bucks. I had a chance to speak with the hotel management. They deliberately went to lower prices to lure tourists. As I understand it, the Sunrise boss is some kind of "big shot" either in the political or public circles of Sharm or Egypt, so he is often heard on TV, in the press, and the Sunrise themselves are "under the close eye of the public." They denied that there had been a rally of their workers in Hurghada in April because of delayed wages. They say the tourists who named and posted the video on youtube most likely made a mistake. Yes, they do not deny that there were hard times in the February-March period, but they pay their salaries regularly. One of the assumptions of the "not their hotel" staff performance was that there were large staff cuts in most of Egypt's hotels due to a record reduction in tourist influx and January performances.

7) In general, all residents are not satisfied with Mubarak. They say that he made millions, and half of the population is starving and cannot afford a normal education, medicine and employment. The local population also has a negative attitude towards the police, which all the previous time did nothing but "suck the blood from the people" mired in lawlessness and corruption. Most even non-radical Arabs want Muslims to come to power. They sincerely believe that the Muslim faith will not allow those in power to rob the people, since they have everything painted by the Qur'an "according to concepts." And a real Muslim would rather commit suicide than violate the Qur'an. To the question, what will you do if the Europeans stop coming to you, almost everyone answered that they did not receive anything anyway, only miserable crumbs, for which they could only buy food. In general, they are not worried about the fact that from an open tourist country with a beautiful, unique sea and amazing history, Egypt can turn into a closed country where there will be no place for the “unfaithful”.
This is their country and they decided so ....
Anyway, if you have any questions - ask!

"the queue at the reception (then a lot of local Arabs stopped by)"
"I'll tell you about the food, on the first day the food seemed very good and varied, but on the second day we began to understand that we couldn't go on like this. On the third day I ate a plate of seafood for dinner, which I later regretted."
аватар Kasja23
"Traveling businessmen from Pakistan" are just local Egyptians who went out into nature for exactly four days - from Saturday to Tuesday for Easter. This is their Shamm an-Nasim holiday or the Day of the Blow of the Spring Breeze. Kind of like cherry blossom viewing in Japan.
400 such "businessmen" also stopped by our hotel. It was fun! But the food became better and more interesting - local dishes appeared.

papa74, and what do you prove with such quotes?
About the same AA Grand Oasis Resort wrote six months ago:
"Everything is bad. No need to go. Cherkizon branch with the use of Auchan packages instead of beach bags - a blow to prices", queues, lack of sun loungers, seats in the dining room, glasses, plates. Frankly meager and often simply not tasty food. Bad alcohol. There are many decent hotels with reefs, it's better to look, the staff for visitors is always on the "ignore" status.
"The restaurant is a disaster. Firstly, tasteless monotonous food for lunch and dinner for seven days in a row. As such, there is no meat, except for chicken and terrible beef, they don’t give seafood at all. At breakfast you won’t find glasses and spoons, but at dinner - or not a clean place, or there are not enough plates, or what you just brought from the table will be quickly cleared from the table while you go for a drink.

I don't think a short circuit caused a hotel in Hurghada to catch fire.
50 people were injured.
Luckily, this didn't affect the tourists.
Or maybe at least somehow compensate for the loss of the hotelier's insurance?

papa74, you were asked a question in your thread on the forum, and you didn’t say anything to it :) And Phansoft came from vacation, and wrote 1, 2,3 ... , everything is clear and clear, but you didn’t even write it .. ., and you keep scaring the people.

young people, as a person who doesn’t know at all, I want to ask you ... if you don’t mind)
On May 24, I’m going to charm ... and I’m afraid ((. They say there are no people in Naama at all ... but what about discos, filled streets? ... everything is bad. yes?
аватар Phansoft
Discos are empty, half of the shops do not work in the evening, there are almost no tourists. But everything is quiet... peaceful...
аватар aisha_sharm
Phansoft, which discos and what days have you been to? We have such discos in Sharm, very popular but they are held once a week, gathering a large number of people and, accordingly, who does not know, entering other entertainment clubs that day it's really half empty.
аватар Phansoft
Twice in the evening with his wife went to Naama Bay to hang out. It was always done after 21-00. these are 05/04/2011 (Wednesday) and 05/07/2011 (Saturday). In both cases it was semi-empty, although there were more people on Saturday.
Locations: Little Buddha, Hard Rock Cafe, Pasha Club.
аватар papa74
In the Hard Rock Cafe, the company store is generally tightly closed.
Stop spreading bullshit, aisha2010.
Who are you trying to fool?
аватар papa74
"accordingly, who doesn't know, going into other entertainment clubs that day is really half empty there"
A should be closed, but they are open.
And empty...

аватар aisha_sharm
Little Buddha and Hard Rock are unpredictable, all discos start after 24-00. Pasha has popular days from Thursday to the end of the week. Wednesday is the El Fanar disco. I don’t argue with you that there are few people in Naam, and the fact that the shops are partially closed is true, not everyone can survive in such a situation. Tourism in Egypt "passed" PAPA74, unlike you, I do not deceive and do not try to do this, but for those who ask a question, I answer and supplement the previous answers, so how I live in Sharm and see everything myself every day. And you have an opinion only for a narrow segment of your vacation with us.

"Tourism in Egypt" passed "PAPA74..."
It's not the first time I've read something like this. It seems to me that everyone is overestimating the "performance" of rara74 for tourism in Egypt in general.
It seems obvious to me that there are objective internal reasons for this in Egypt. In my opinion, it is ridiculous to blame the collapse of an entire huge industry on one (mere mortal) person.
аватар kohanchuk2
That's right, jabetta! At this rate, the Pope will soon be accused of "surrendering" Osama to US Navy SEALs in Pakistan!
аватар papa74
Yeah, he gave coordinates, gave shells)))))
аватар Phansoft
The Arab world will not forgive you for this, dad ... )))))))
аватар Vasilisa55
somehow sad...
аватар papa74
One more opinion.
"In general, there are very few tourists, the hotel is a third empty (only on Friday there was an invasion of Jordanians with harems, even queues were created in the restaurant), ... there are no tourists at all in Naama Bay, merchants are like mosquitoes, angry, hungry, annoying"

papa74, is it hard to look for a negative? I have to quote from other sites.
Fresh reviews from Sharm:
http://www.turpravda.com/eg/sharm_el_sheyh/
of the last ten - only 3 negative. And with standard long-known problems.
SEA MAGIC RESORT & SPA 5* and REHANA ROYAL BEACH RESORT & SPA 5* did not differ in good food and service even before the revolution.
SHERATON SHARM MAIN BUILDING 5* according to the tourist "Hotel Chuvashia 3* in Cheboksary". He expected another. It happens.
None of the tourists suffered from the revolutionary events. Total - 70% satisfied, 20% not very satisfied, 10% - disappointed. It seems to me that the standard situation. It was hardly better before the revolution.
Flights, of course, are fewer than last year. But this is natural. Flight loading is stable. I watched only Kyiv - Turtes, TEZ and Pegasus sold everything 10 days in advance. For mid-May, the situation is non-standard. It usually gets a little burnt.

SHERATON - MAIN BUILDING
My friend, how much do you need to work for Chuvashia?
Then how will we look at this hotel?
аватар papa74
"For mid-May, the situation is non-standard. Usually it got a little burnt."
Thank you, otherwise it would suddenly "shoot" with a price tag;)))
