On December 14, 2010 CDWS received Governor's Decree No. 357 - 2010 related to the opening of some beaches and some sea excursions in Sharm El Sheikh.
This decree has caused a lot of confusion and, as a result, CDWS Chairman Mr. Hesham Gabr, requested a meeting tonight with the Governor of South Sinai and the Egyptian Coast Guard to get some clarification for CDWS members on what activities are allowed and what are not.
As a result of this meeting, CDWS is now able to confirm that the Governor has ordered the following:
: For certified divers with 50 dives or more:
Diving is allowed in all sites, including coastal ones.
B: For certified divers with less than 50 dives:
Diving is allowed where there are piers.
Drift diving is not allowed.
The area north of Naama Bay to Ras Nasrani remains closed to this category of diver - until 12/21/2010
C: for beginners,
courses and training
Diving is allowed only in the following areas (valid until 12/21/2010)
Sharm El Maya
Naama Bay
Sharks Bay (offshore only)
South and North Lagoon in Tiran
Nabq Bay

For advanced divers with less than 50 dives, the same rules as category B.
Rescue training is temporarily not allowed due to the following reasons:
to avoid wasting time spent on mastery.
so as not to cause panic among tourists due to the simulated situation, the behavior of the diver as a victim.

Boat excursions with a mask and snorkel are allowed only in all areas of Tiran Island.
