Reefs are not everywhere in Sharm. There are hotels with reefs and gradual sunset at the same time.
Is it worth it or not to go, is it worth it or not to take a hotel with a reef - do you really completely rely on the opinion of random advisers who do not know your features, nor your tastes, nor your desires?
аватар brusova.tatiana
Thanks for the answer. Yes, I believe, not completely, but I want to hear the opinion, otherwise I would not have asked. It's not about tastes, I'm not very demanding. But in experience. In whether a child can swim where the reefs, I have no idea at all)) With a circle, maybe in a life jacket. And you want a reef, because in Sharm at this time it is warmer than Hurghada and you want fish;)

And in December, who went, how warm is the water there? I went to Hurghada in February, there was very cold water, very straight)

"Can a child swim where the reefs are?"
- Maybe, if the child can swim and is not afraid of the bottomless depth. A reef where the bottom is not visible, in the open sea.
"And you want a reef, because it's warmer in Sharm at this time,"
- Official weather measurements say that the temperature in Sharm and Hurghada is the same.
"And who went in December, how warm is the water there? I went to Hurghada in February, there was very cold water, very very straight)"
- In December, both in Sharm and in Hurghada, the sea is with the same + 25-23C. In February, both in Sharm and in Hurghada, the sea is with the same + 22-21C.

How old is your child? If the child is not very big, take a better hotel with a gradual entry and a reef.

From the question it is not entirely clear what the author expects in December?
If the weather is of interest, then the beginning of December is quite comfortable for relaxing, the sea has not cooled down yet, and it is not very hot outside, which contributes to excursions, it will be cooler closer to NG. About the myth that it is warmer in Sharm than in Hurghada, you were mentioned above, just in the open area in the wind it will not be comfortable, especially at the time of leaving the sea. For a child, of course, you need to choose a hotel with a gentle entrance, and if you swim badly, then too, Naama Bay immediately comes to mind, and the child is fine, and you can swim to the reefs located not far and not deep. The only negative, for me, December is a short daylight hours, it gets dark at five in the evening, but I like to fly in early December - prices are lower, there are fewer people (although it’s already a moot point), it’s not so hot and the sun is not as active, which is possible without additional protection snorkat all day long after smearing only with cream.
PS Photos from my archive - These are the reefs that await you in Naamo Bay

We have been going to Sharm in December for 3 years. During the day it is warm, the sea is comfortable. Cooler evenings require a light jacket.
If the sand and shallow look at the hotels in the bays of Naama, El Maya and Ras Um El Sid.
Next, you need to know your budget, since the difference is decent between hotels.

if finances allow, go in December to hotels located in the bays of ras um el cid and el maya. there is a reef and sand, entry into the sea is gradual, the wind is a rare guest. in RUES, as a bonus to your escorts, and there is a reef)))

Good afternoon! Was last year in December from 18 to 25. The weather was good, even at lunchtime we left the beach. I swam all the time, except for the last day, in the morning the water was cool and in the afternoon we did not go to the sea. Faraana Reef Resort, closed buta, good access from the sea, for children and non-swimmers a great option. One minus for families with children, poor children's animation, and unheated pools. As a rule, people go to this hotel for the sake of the sea, the reef here is gorgeous.

- In Faraana Reef, only one plus is the beach. Everything else (rooms, food, cleanliness, animation) are solid cons.

buy wetsuits and helmets - you won't freeze and you won't get sick;)

Look at the Domina Coral Bay hotel. Were from December 28 to January 6, 2021. Heated pool, the sea has a specially organized area with a gentle entrance, a reef with a pontoon, n on the pontoon there are 2 pools with a bottom (for those who are afraid of depth).
Children's animation was only on the beach before lunch.

We went several times in mid-December. Everything's Alright. Air-water +24. Comfortable in the bays of Ras um Sid and Naama

I want to comment on the entrance and reef of hotels in RUES bay. Yesterday we finally visited the paid beach of the Pharaana Reef Hotel. Sunset is great for children, ala paddling pool. But the only way to get to the reef is through a pontoon littered with building materials and sometimes broken, or at high tide to swim twice across the reef wall. I think it’s not an option for the author, since you need to be able to swim well in order to look for something interesting along the bay. And if this is not done, then you will not see anything interesting, all the corals are dead, the water is muddy. There are really a lot of fish, they say they are fed by vacationers. It seems to me that for those who can’t swim, but at the same time want to see a beautiful reef, this is not a very option, except perhaps in the neighboring Reef Oasis hotel, there is at least a pontoon there. For example, we liked the combination of entry-reef more like a moven peak, where you can get to a live reef without a pier. And ideal for those who can’t swim at all Fort arabesque, there are beautiful coral bumps, shallow and sunset from the shore, but this is Hurghada.

Elena P ,
Does that mean you can't swim straight? we swam from ROBR, and from Faraana, and from Phanara - everywhere there is a place where you can very famously swim over the corals to the reefs ...

Yesterday there was a very strong low tide, people we met say that 3 years ago at the same time there were no such low tides. When we arrived in the morning, it was impossible to go into the sea, I also thought: where is this vaunted sandy entry, because. I had to walk over stones and dead corrals, I needed special shoes for sure. But then people told us that we had to wait for the tide and it would be possible to swim across the corals only then (before that, the coral wall looked out on the surface just so decently). I went swimming from the pier: yes, it’s beautiful, but in the Renaissance it’s definitely not worse, if not better, while the pier is excellent, I went down and see the beauty and more fish. Apparently in RUES they are all at the exit, where they are fed, and where there are few corals. But in the Renaissance there is a strong current to the right, they are constantly whistling, rescuers, someone is being pulled in circles, there was a red flag for a couple of days before lunch. That's why we went to the paid beach of Faraana Reef, because we were already tired of suffering: either the beach is open, or it is closed ...
аватар Elena.P
It was probably possible to swim across the coral at 15:30-16:00. And then, I personally was not comfortable, they are very close ... then, on the advice of people, I swam through another coral tunnel and the second time I swam across the reef to the boats, of course it’s already beautiful there, but again in the Renaissance it’s no worse and there are more fish, there are just fewer areas for swimming, a terrible current and a permanently closed beach :) Therefore, if I personally go to RUES bay, then to the oasis beach reef, they at least have a pier so as not to suffer with these searches for access to corals. At the same time, I swim perfectly, but for people who are not very good, I don’t know if they will like it ... In general, it’s interesting to consider Hyatt for the winter, there is also a sandy sunset and the coral seems to be good.
аватар ser_____Witness77
for those who have not eaten a big belly, it is not difficult to swim across the coral ... the rest are not comfortable))
аватар Elena.P
:) :) :) Well, I don’t know, with my 55 kg with a height of 178 it was uncomfortable, I don’t know about those who have a belly ... maybe we got like that yesterday, maybe there was a really strong ebb, maybe you need to get used to it, just don’t I think that people who swim badly will like it. And so the point is to look at dead corals.
