Markets are open, various shops are open.

The fish market in the Old Market is open as usual. Shrimp as usual from 10 to 12 dollars depending on the size.
Vegetables 3-5 pounds in shops for locals, oranges 5 pounds.

In short: everything is for nothing, as usual :)) In Egypt, you can eat only fruits and seafood. And if you go to Carrefour, then prices are 2-3 times cheaper than market prices for fruits and berries. Tea and spices - quite ridiculous prices.

Are you definitely from Ukraine?
Not a fig for nothing ... Just a week ago in Varusa I took a shrimp seed for $ 4, and in Metro caliber 20-30 fresh - for $ 6. And fruits from 35 cents and up to a maximum of 2 dollars.
We don’t have such tasty mango, although there are discounts on good varieties up to $ 2.2 per kg.
And on the other hand, we don’t have strawberries, but garden strawberries - ours is tastier

ira.novo2000, I'm definitely from Ukraine. Severodonetsk is Ukraine. Food, cosmetics, medicines, souvenirs, excursions in Egypt are much cheaper (I repeat - for free) than in any other country in Northeast Africa, not to mention European countries and island resorts. Exotics do not count, because the pricing policy is exotic there :))
Prices in Carrefour: citrus fruits, bananas, melons 4--7 UAH per kg, guava, strawberries, papaya - 13-15 UAH per kg, the same strawberries on the market 27 UAH per package 700-800 grams, local mango 24-27 UAH per kg, tea 70-90 UAH per kg. It is expensive??? My daughter, after six years of living in the USA, took pictures of Carrefour cash receipts along with a mountain of fruit and sent them to her colleagues, as they could not believe that in winter you can buy natural fresh fruit almost for free.
Our garden strawberries are tastier, I agree! Egyptian strawberries are wonderful in winter with champagne.
And in general, I just adore Egypt and the Red Sea!

Please tell me where is Carrefour

From Naama Bay by minibus for 2.5 pounds or a taxi for $ 1. Located along the road, you can see it. All drivers know. You can also walk if you wish. Google it, look at the map. It's easy to understand.

My pleasure! Have a nice shopping!

Thanks for the info on Carrefour, but I have never seen such a network even close, but I'll look. Those prices that you write are the prices of November, well, as a last resort, December. I was in January and my friends were in February and March - they saw prices only as I saw - fodder mango at 1 dollar per kg, but who needs it. Fragrant sweet mango for 3-5 dollars per kg, strawberries, guava (also a fruit of dubious value, even if washed down with alcohol), etc. 1 dollar per kg. It didn't even occur to me to ask for melon, citrus fruits and bananas - even in our hotel "minus three stars" were given at every meal. Guava too, but I know the price, because my colleague decided to take this non-pearl home in the form of a souvenir and bought
But our shrimp are really the same in price, except for very large ones. They were in Egypt for 10 dollars per kg, the same as ours for 5-10, but 10 maximum without discounts and promotions. Very large, I agree - with us they are usually under $40, or even $50 per kg without discounts, but also with discounts of at least $30 per kg

Or do you compare fruit prices in winter?
Well, who would ever think of buying a melon in winter? What is it that you really can’t wait for? Well, you snickered there in your Severodonetsk - I don’t even know the prices for melons in winter - I won’t even look in her direction ...
And our mango is also cheaper in winter - 60 UAH per kg, odorous ...

In Egypt, mango in October-November can be bought for $ 1-1.5. Every year we carry 2-3 boxes home

The prices were written as of March 11, 2020. The last time was at the time of the start of the pandemic. And my daughter flew with us in winter, the prices were the same in Carrefour, + - three kopecks :)) Regarding guava, melon, etc.: there are no comrades for the taste and color. My daughter and I are herbivores and love absolutely all fruits, vegetables and berries. We eat them all year round. My husband can't stand guava, papaya, mangoes, cacti and other exotic fruits, he can't even stand the smell, he calls them "oil". :)) We take melons, citrus fruits, pomegranates, strawberries for him, which, by the way, are very good in Egypt! I'm not a fan of pomegranates, but in Egypt and Greece they are especially sweet. And these little round melons are generally like honey! We also had a lot of fruit in the hotel, but we prefer not to go for lunch, but to be by the sea. To do this, we take a lot of fruits with us, we eat them constantly.

About Carrefour. This network is very common in Europe, Africa, Asia, Cyprus. In France and Spain, it has a bunch of affiliated stores, with the same nice fixed prices. I really like the pricing policy of this network, service and assortment. In principle, in one store you can buy everything you need.
Regarding the purchase of exotic fruits in Ukraine: I have never come across a delicious fresh mango. Therefore, I eat exotic fruits in the camp of their growth.
Shrimps in Egypt are really tasty and "fatty" :)) My son-in-law runs a chain of fish restaurants in the states, I trust his opinion completely, so I eat these shrimp without fear.
Just a note: in every country there are shops with minimum prices, before the trip you just need to monitor the information. This sometimes helps a lot, especially at the end of the trip, when the budget went beyond what was planned.
Have a good shopping and a lot of positive! And I went swimming!

Something for 5 times in Egypt I haven’t seen oranges at the same price as bananas, what’s on the market, what’s in carrefour, while I always write down what I bought for how much
