my friends and family are now resting there ... they write that everything is fine, calm in the hotel (they are in Hurghada) .. they say about Cairo that yes, it’s very restless, the movements are somehow not very pleasant. But this is how tourists go every day ....

I have just arrived from Sharm. The hotels are quiet and peaceful. There are few people. No excitement was felt. We drove past the hospital in which the former president is lying. Machine gunners stand around the perimeter, all stops are prohibited.
аватар papa74
Stops are allowed.
Stopped, photographed the last pharaoh of Egypt in the "pyramid" of the hospital.
Sorry for Hosni Mubarek, the great man is gone...
аватар Phansoft
Not only to stop, but also to go to the hospital. After all, this is almost the only clinical institution in Sharm. True control and metal detectors at the entrance
аватар papa74
Did you go there?
аватар Phansoft
No, I didn't go, I just took pictures from the bus. Here is a couple we met. The girl had to go to the hospital (remove her nail), so she was taken to the clinic. She did.
аватар papa74
And who is downvoted?
аватар Phansoft
And they gave me minuses))))
аватар aisha_sharm
Phansoft-" After all, this is almost the only clinical institution in Sharm." There are quite a few clinics and foreign specialist doctors in Shar. The Pyramid Hospital is state-owned and all Egyptians turn to it. hospitalized in the hospital with which the contract is signed with the insurance company in your country from where you flew in. And believe us, there are plenty of hospitals.
аватар Phansoft
And that Sharm El Sheikh International Hospital is written on the facade of every hospital?
аватар Phansoft
Why then the girl was sent to where there is a cordon, and not to some other of the "enough hospitals"
аватар Karina-Mango
it’s just the state one, that’s why they send them there under insurance, and literally 5 minutes near the metro store there is another Sinai Clinic hospital, also international, but the service there is more expensive ...
аватар aisha_sharm
They sent me to the state one, because I repeat, the insurance company that signed the contract for the season chose this hospital. And the state or private tourists should not worry about it.

Good day!
I'll copy my post from another question:
Was in Hurghada from 03/23/2011 to 04/03/2011. This is the eighth time.
Quiet in Hurghada. The hotels were half empty. Russians have not yet been allowed in by the Foreign Ministry. Now I don’t know, it seems they were allowed to take off. We had a great rest, everything is calm. I just don’t recommend going to Cairo (pyramids), there may be demonstrations in the capital (the guide in Egypt told us so) and you can get stuck in Cairo, and boat trips, Luxor - to your health !!!!
Of the minuses: because. few tourists, many shops are closed, especially near hotels. Several work and that's all ........ You won't get too worked up. But the sea, the sun))))))
I wish you a pleasant stay!!!!!!!!
Yes, I will say this, I have never had such a chic, calm post-revolutionary =)) vacation in Egypt. There are no people. The hotels are mostly Germans, who on the beach both lie down on sunbeds, and until the evening and "sleep". The beaches are almost empty .... We had only 75 people in the hotel .... And the hotel has 306 rooms, i.e. It was about 10% filled...
Waiting for more revolutions in Egypt!!! ))))))
Best regards, Dmitry

The 12 killed and more than 200 wounded are the result of bloody clashes between Muslims and Christians in Egypt. On Saturday, in one area of Cairo, about 500 Muslims attacked the Coptic Church of St. Menas. On Sunday, the battle resumed.

The attackers demanded the release of a Christian woman who was allegedly forcibly detained in the church to prevent her from converting to Islam. Witnesses say that firearms and "Molotov cocktails" were used against Christians, and they were pelted with hailstones. Extreme Islamic fundamentalists, the Salafists (also known as the Wahhabis), made a special effort. Muslims burned two Christian churches. Only then did the army intervene, dividing the parties to the conflict and arresting 190 active members. It was stated that the detainees will appear before a military tribunal.
Calling on the Egyptians, the country's Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa, who demanded that the Provisional Military Government (which took power in the country after the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak) bring order.

And last Friday, Egyptian Salafists staged a demonstration in Cairo in support of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, who was killed in Pakistan. His death provoked a series of threats against Islamic radicals

krimchanin - this peasant girl decided to convert to Islam, and the Egyptian Christians held her by force. So they explained to me. And when a crowd of Muslims came to the church and demanded to release the girl, they opened fire on them. To which the Muslims immediately responded. sides. Many Egyptians talk about what is happening like this: "now there is no need to divide into Christians and Muslims, now we need to build a new modern Egypt and we are all just Egyptians in it."
аватар jabetta
"...now we need to build a new modern Egypt..."
This is exactly what worries me the most - what will the new modern Egypt be like and what methods will they build it with?
I am saddened by my personal selfish interest (excuse the cynicism - such is life): will we, as tourists, have a place in that new modern Egypt?
Moreover, ordinary Egyptians say that this tourist business is up to one place for them (from the report of one of our experts who recently returned from there), they don’t earn anything there.
This is more and more disturbing, for me personally - I want to go to Egypt!
аватар aisha_sharm
We are all worried about what kind of Egypt will be new. And you, who are used to flying on vacation, and us, who now live in Egypt. Unfortunately, we will not be able to influence the fate of Egypt and tourism in this country. We can only wait and hope.
аватар jabetta
aisha2010, the question in this case is for you, as a person who is constantly there, and who knows the situation from the inside, and also, as I understand it, you understand something about Islam: "What kind of "prospects" await us (tourists) in case of arrival to the power of "Islamists""?
I think that you are also concerned about the future of tourism in Egypt.
аватар aisha_sharm
To be honest, I don’t know how the Egyptian revolution will end. The arrival of the “Islamists” is rejected by the Egyptians themselves. The majority have a goal to direct the country along a democratic path of development. .And with the new constitution adopted, the prospects for tourism in the future in Egypt, in my opinion, are deplorable.
аватар jabetta
That's what it is... :(
You just confirmed my thoughts and feelings on this matter. It remains to hope for the best.
Thanks for the answer.

Good afternoon. On the question ... I was in Sharm, from April 30 to May 7, everything is VERY calm there .. there were more people after the hurricane than now. an empty promenade in Naoma Bay is a rather sad sight (some barkers) Tourists (Russians) more or less began to arrive after May 5th. Everything else is as usual.
аватар Phansoft
Prices have increased???? For what???? On the contrary, they fell! Almost everything is given away for next to nothing. By the way, magnets are 3 pieces per dollar, and those that last year cost 2 (large, beautiful) for a dollar.
аватар Allsharm.com
jabetta, Nobody wants ''Islamists'' to come to power, then it will be complete ...., they will envelop us from head to toe :)
аватар Galin7
Returned May 20th. Sharm is very quiet.
