Tell me how to organize your first trip to Egypt, to the pyramids?
I'm wondering where you need to settle in order to be able to spend every day at the pyramids? In what area, in what hotel (inexpensive)? Thank you!

Looking for a hotel in Cairo!
аватар law77
maybe a question off topic?
are you an archaeologist?
what do you plan to do every day at the pyramids?
to be honest, a 3-5 hour excursion - with a head ...
if you really just fly for this ..
then you need to fly to Cairo (by flight ... there are no charters) ...
Settle in the Giza area, search for a hotel in local directories ...
but I would not advise ... this is a completely different Egypt ... not a colorful sight ...
Yes, a ticket to visit the pyramids is 60 pounds - about 11 dollars
аватар law77
and a simple solution - fly to Sharm ... for a week ...
swimming... sunbathing...
and for one day go to Cairo by bus (about 80 bucks) or by plane (from 200) and see everything
аватар Surmirs
You cheered me up law77 :)))
No, I'm not an archaeologist, but the main goal of the trip is still the pyramids. I want to take a leisurely walk there, see EVERYTHING, feel the spirit of this place.
And I heard about a 3-hour excursion ... I think that it’s not worth going there for 3 hours at all, you can watch a movie at home on the couch))) Therefore, I want to spend at least 3-4 days near the pyramids (to visit there at dawn and sunset) and then a few days at sea. I just don't quite understand how to organize it correctly? I'm waiting for more advice.
аватар law77
you made me laugh a little...
I've been to the pyramids 3 times...
but to be honest what to do there for 3-4 days ...
Well, in general, you are a person who has fun with everything ....
and now actually...
Option.
Fly separately to Cairo... You rest there.... Then you fly to Sharm... You rest there... Then to Cairo... and home
аватар Surmirs
Hmm ... a meaningful answer :) I have no complaints against you law77, but honestly I can’t understand are you just joking or do you really think that your “option” is good advice? :( I ask you for advice on how to organize your stay in Cairo yourself how to choose a hotel, what costs are coming, etc. Or is it better to buy a ticket to Sharm and then arrange a trip to Giza for 3-4 days instead of a 3-hour tour?
аватар law77
so in general, if you want an exclusive, go to a travel agency ... they will offer you an option ...
and it's just a little inadequate ... to be honest ...
There is also a tour - Cruise on the Nile ... There, in my opinion, 2 days in Cairo ...
If we talk about Cairo ... then I like the Cairo National Museum better
аватар Surmirs
I do not want an exclusive (there are not enough funds for it now), but just a few days in Cairo, in the Giza Valley + swim in the sea. I also want to visit the Cairo Museum.

Here is a link to the review http://blogs.turpravda.com/mannes/25992.html, I think it will help :)
law77, Surmirs asked the question deliberately, and it is his business how much time to spend at the pyramids
аватар HotLine
In fact, you just want an exclusive.
I do not advise, I suggest to think.
1. We send many tourists to Egypt and travel ourselves. Never met such desires. Even those who have already been near the pyramids. We think why.
2. There are no charter flights to Cairo. This means, firstly, that there are not enough tourists willing to spend at least a week in Cairo (even archaeologists). We think why. Secondly, this means that the flight to Cairo is expensive. In fact, a week-long tour to Hurghada or Sharm will cost the same as a flight to Cairo.
3. Everything is possible. But I, for one, do not know people capable of competently choosing and booking a hotel in the Giza area. And not because we are so incompetent - I traveled all the resorts of Egypt, Cairo and Alexandria. Because there was no such need.
Although you can advice. Standard tour to Hurghada or Sharm on half board. Buy a two-day standard excursion to Cairo.
It will be the cheapest of the simply implemented options, close to your wishes. Maybe after that you will understand us, or maybe you will reevaluate your plans.

listen to the rest of the holidaymakers, Cairo is very dirty, nothing good. The museum really deserves to spend more time there than is allotted for a tour. On the pyramids, three hours under the scorching sun will be enough for you, you will get tired, if you get on a windy day, you won’t see anything at all because of the sand from the desert. Egypt has a beautiful sea, carefully choose a place to stay, give priority to a good coral reef near the hotel. We rested in Sharm, flew to Cairo and Luxor by plane, flew out at 6 in the morning, flew back at 10 in the evening, we liked everything, we had enough impressions. Have a good rest!

I agree with Hotline. Go to Sharm, relax for a couple of days and take a two-day excursion to Cairo, and if you like it, take it again.
аватар Surmirs
What does "two day trip" mean? How does it look like in time? What time is departure-arrival and how much free time in Cairo? Where is the overnight stay?
аватар Pachok
Sumirs, type in Google "From Sharm el Sheikh to Cairo (on your own)" and read Vaclav on the links that open.
аватар amulettravel
Check locally with your operator or local travel agencies in Sharm. Departure, I think, at night, there all day, then overnight in an inexpensive hotel and around 4-5 pm departure back to your region ...

Were in Egypt in September 2009. We took a ticket from Hurghada to Cairo. The pyramids had 40! minutes, although they managed to run from Cheops to Mykerin and back. But they didn't really see anything. To inspect and feel all the pyramids, it seemed to me, at least 5-6 hours. After all, you need not only to look stupidly, but also to feel the spirit of this place. Overall, I was both disappointed and impressed with this tour. I will definitely go there again. Every day, of course, there is nothing to do there, but I would wander around for a day. Of course, I would also like to read about your impressions of the trip to Giza. Good luck.

As already correctly suggested, it is optimal for you to take a tour to a 3 * hotel, with half board. And then there are several options.
First, a two-day excursion to Cairo by bus. It costs about 150 dollars and includes, in addition to the museum, the pyramids, the Mohammed Ali Mosque, lunch on the ship, several more temples and, of course, a night in a 4 * hotel.
The second option is to go on your own. A regular bus to Cairo costs about $15. You can book a hotel on the Internet, the link was sent in a personal. There are good 2-ki, in the very center of Cairo, in the Talaat Harba area, an area near the Cairo Museum, of course you have to get to the pyramids, but the museum is nearby and the metro. You can and vice versa, closer to the pyramids. Three nights will cost about $60 (including breakfast). You will also need money for transport in Cairo, entrance tickets and food. Maybe you will decide to go to Alexandria (by train less than 3 hours).
It turns out more expensive on your own, but two days with an organized group are not worth even one day of independent acquaintance with Cairo.
