Sharm El Sheikh or Hurghada?
Sharm El Sheikh or Hurghada? Excited about all the nuances. I am traveling with my 4 year old daughter. Wrote a bunch of questions - do not miss. Thanks a lot for the detailed answers! =)

Yes, it doesn't matter (at this time) - choose a good hotel only ...

Thank you =) I want to ask for prices (not hotels), cheaper where to buy souvenirs, etc. in the markets, in Sharm or in Hurghada?
аватар Vic-Grin
No wound. How do you bargain.
аватар ziskin
If fish and diving are not the main thing for you and your daughter (mine love pools more), then feel free to choose Hurghada
аватар karo555
And you add 60 dollars for a visa to your passport to the cost of the tour and it will become clearer what to choose. Sinai is still free if you write "sinai only". And Hurghada is now 25 dollars. for a visa, and from June 1 - 60))) They were going to raise the cost of visas from March 1, they postponed it to June. But children's beaches in Hurghada are better - there is sand and large shallows. And in Sharm, you mainly enter from corals and then the depth immediately begins, which is not very convenient for children. On the beaches, as a rule, entry into the sea from pontoons.

thank you caro555! =) We'll definitely fly away before the first of June)))) Sinai is Sharm?
It remains to decide on the choice of a travel agency .... How profitable is it to take vouchers? Is it true that upon arrival at the hotel, the guides try to "dissolve" on excursions that people do not want to take? Is it undesirable to go to the city, to the markets with a child? Only with a tour?

The increase in the price of a visa has long been canceled

Sinai is the entire Sinai Peninsula. Charm is right there. Of the travel agencies, I like Join Up - I personally have never been let down (out of 4 visits to Egypt - I flew 2 times from Join Up). Excursions are more profitable to take in stalls on the beach (and don't care what the hotel guides say there, they have the same excursions 20-30% more expensive). Hotel guides all the time somewhat obsessively offer excursions - this is their income. But don't be fooled, smile, say what you think))) You buy only long-distance excursions from hotel guides: Cairo, Israel or Jordan. Everything related to excursions around the area is much cheaper on the beach. You can go out with your child both to the city and on excursions, nothing will happen, unless you yourself will not be very comfortable fighting off sticky sellers. They are very hot and obsessive. At the hotel, the animators usually know everything, so feel free to contact them and they will tell you how and where to get better. Sometimes they themselves organize trips to the city.

If the priority is "water world", diving, diving with a mask, fins, etc., good protection from the winds, then, of course, Charm. A lot of hotels in Sharm have entry only from a pontoon, so you need to carefully choose a hotel when going on vacation with a child. If the priority is a good sandy beach, a convenient and gentle entry into the sea not from a pontoon, but from the shore, then Hurghada or Makadi. And there are good hotels in both Sharm and Hurghada. Everything depends on your budget.

The eternal question.
For a small child, Hurghada is better. It is quieter there than in Sharm, and the beaches are better.
As for excursions, karo555 is categorically wrong. Not worth taking on the beach either. It is worth leaving the hotel in the evening and going to a couple of travel companies, which are innumerable. Don't be afraid and just do it. Because those who bought at the hotel for 100, and those who bought the same excursion outside the hotel for 20, then in fact travel in the same bus as part of the same group.
Cairo, Israel is far from Hurghada. IMHO. Because the taste and color.

We were in Sharm twice during the year, some of the firms were tightly closed due to the crisis, there were not many people there - most moved closer to the beaches. Behind the hotels Melton Beach and Sea Beach Aquapark - there is nothing at all, except for a couple of souvenir shops, you will have to cut somewhere specially on the bus. And this is not convenient for a child.

In addition to the visa, the sea and the beach are also important. Charm is almost everywhere reefs, the entrance to the sea is a pontoon. Except Naama. But it's expensive there. And Hurghada - wide sandy beaches. We were in Sharm Grand Hotel 5 * in November and I clearly understood that for me personally no service and stardom can replace the feeling when you walk barefoot along the edge of the surf, enter the water, slowly looking at the bottom, feeling the sand ......

And I read that a visa of $ 60 will be from July 1, and that is in question.
аватар koha62
With a child, you definitely need to go to Hurghada. If you give me a budget, I can recommend hotels.
аватар Marsyanchik
The visa will most likely remain $ 25, and this is not the amount (compared to the cost of a tour to Egypt) to influence the choice of a resort.

Special for karo555:
We were at the beginning of the year at the Mirage hotel. Almost in the city of Hurghada. Right next to the hotel is a large and wide promenade. Despite the absence of tourists, most of the shops are open. If you wish, you can find anything: traditional souvenirs, a hookah at a price two or three times lower than in a hotel (or even free of charge), fresh strawberries in the month of February, any excursions from budget to VIP level.
Yes, and in Sharm problems "to find a tour outside the hotel" somehow did not notice.
Would like to...

mindguru is not a problem to find. Depending on where the hotel is located. I mean, there were not many shops and stores where we settled. A travel agency that sold excursions was only on the beach. There is life outside the hotel and the beach - I have no doubt, and souvenirs are sold. But from some hotels you have to go to the cluster of shops by minibus. And the buses run too. But with a child, I definitely wouldn’t go in a minibus specifically for trips on a yacht to ride cheaper by 5 bucks. And the difference in prices is approximately the following: a trip on a yacht with a guide - 35 bucks, on the beach 25. But if the hotel is located closer to the center of civilization and you don’t have to go anywhere, but there is time and a desire to go and see what-where-how much - why not?
аватар mindguru
Why go somewhere with a child when you can leave him for a couple of hours in a kids club?
Yes, you are right, it all depends on the location of the hotel.
And the difference in price can be two times: it depends on how you know how to bargain.

Definitely Sharm El Sheikh is better, and with a small child there are many options for hotels with a sandy beach. The underwater world does not compare at all. Regarding the previous comment "it's calmer in Hurghada", I wonder where?) Sharm El Sheikh is exclusively for tourists, except for the staff, no one lives in the city here. The police are everywhere, no one clings to the streets like in Hurghada.

The city itself is much more beautiful, there are places to go with a child

It seems to me that with a 4-year-old baby, mommy will not be up to the beauties of the underwater world. Or will there be two adults? Hurghada suited us more - even budget hotels on the 1st line with a convenient entry for children. You can enter the city on foot, if the location is good, and by taxi - cheap in Egypt, and by minibus. But it's probably for adults. In Hurghada, we did not get to souvenirs with fixed prices, but in Sharm and not far from the hotel, and in the Old City we bought. For me it is important , I do not like to bargain . And about excursions, we agreed while still in Ukraine, so as not to go there, not to look.
