If you have already changed your Ukrainian passport to a new one (due to a change of surname), then most likely the border guards at the airport will not let you through. Now, when replacing a Ukrainian passport, the migration service reports the data to the border guards. If you just got married and have not yet changed your Ukrainian (civil) passport, you can fly.

I flew for 4 years on a passport with my maiden name and there were no problems at any border. I just put my maiden name everywhere.
аватар cgistalker
If I'm not mistaken, then by law you have three months to travel with a passport with an old surname.

Thanks for the replies, now I think..

"I flew for 4 years" - the fact of the matter is that I flew ... Alarming "calls" began this summer, when people at the airport began to be wrapped up precisely for this reason - an invalid passport. I contacted the DMS with this question, where they explained to me that when replacing a civil passport due to a change in surname, the regional DMS transfers such information to the border service. If a person has not yet managed to change a Ukrainian passport after registering a marriage, then the border guards do not know about this - they do not have a common base with justice (which includes the registry office).
For "cgistalker" - can you link to the Law? Name? From what year?

And one more thing... If you got married and changed your Ukrainian passport to a new surname before the summer of 2015, then you can fly. Only in the summer of 2015 (I don’t remember exactly), the information began to be transmitted to the border guards.

I changed my passport until the summer of 2015 and in September I flew to Turkey on it, but now I have the opportunity to fly (not planned), now I’m worried .. (I won’t have time to change)
аватар Adrenalin77
Of course, you can worry :) Fly - no one will tell the border guards about you :) Especially since you already had a rest in September. Have a nice rest.
аватар Lois-55
Thank you, I hope everything goes well, then I will write the result here :)

within a month after the wedding, if you have not written an application for a new Ukrainian passport, you can fly with the old name.
flew like that a month ago.

Of course available. Take your marriage certificate too.

If your passport with your maiden name is valid, then you can safely fly to a visa-free country. Good luck to you))

"If your passport with your maiden name is valid, then you can safely fly to a visa-free country."
Depending on what you mean... The passport has not expired - this does not mean that the passport is valid. If the civil passport has already been changed to a new surname, then it is foreign. automatically ceases to be valid (even despite its expiration date). The question is: do the border guards know about this? I already wrote earlier - since the summer of 2015, this information is automatically sent by the migration service (the passport office earlier) to the border service. In your case, there is a high probability that the archives are not able to process and the border guards do not have information about your marital status. De facto and de jure your foreign passport. invalid, but who knows about it?...
Marriage certificate... Of course, you can take it, but do not rush to show it. As soon as the border guards see different names (in the certificate and in the passport), your trip will end.

Thank you all for your answers, of course I'll take a marriage certificate, but I hope I won't have to show it.

Each country has its own rules. In Ukraine, you can fly a month after registration, in Russia until the passport expires, and in Belarus, after marriage, they put a stamp in the passport stating that it must be replaced (if the newlyweds do not tearfully ask not to put a stamp in the passport and promise to change the passport after the honeymoon months))))
You need to know the laws of the country before advising))))) And in order not to get into trouble, and not to disrupt the vacation, it is better to clarify for your peace of mind in the migration service.

"You can fly in Ukraine a month after registration" - tell me a link to the Law or a by-law?
In Ukraine, after the registration of marriage, 1 month is given to replace the national passport in connection with the change of surname (without penalties). And foreign. will be valid only until the person applies to the migration service for a replacement. I won’t talk about Russia and Belarus, because I don’t know. And the author of the question is from Ukraine. :)

Of course, according to the law, it needs to be changed, and I know it, but it just happened that I won’t have time to change it, and I know for sure that many people traveled with passports for their maiden names for several years. base and no one will leave for a visa-free country with such a passport!?

If I have such an active discussion with different points of view, I will contribute.
There is a difference between the formal and the factual side in this matter.
Those who wish can study the formal side according to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers №152 of 07.05.2014.
In paragraph 31 there is a paragraph:
"If the person on the day of submission of documents for the exchange of passports of citizens of Ukraine in connection with the change of surname or name did not submit documents for the exchange of passports abroad, LCA or its territorial body or unit that received documents for exchange of passports of citizens of Ukraine, declares the passport for travel abroad invalid, which informs the Administration of the State Border Guard Service and the Ukrainian Bureau of Interpol within one day. "
That is, as soon as the young wife submits documents to replace her internal passport, the border guards must receive information on the same day about the invalidity of her passport issued in her maiden name.

The actual side until recently was as follows - until there was a single information base, while the Soviet passport offices were working, this information did not reach the border guards.
But this summer things have changed. Something has worked (State Migration Service - DMS). There was information about non-releases and there were mailings from operators. I quote the letter of the curator of Coral Travel:
URGENT! Important information about traveling abroad for women (citizens
Ukraine): At checkpoints, system update: when reading
information from the passport is now visible if there was a change in surname. !
According to foreign passports with a maiden name are not issued! To avoid
possible problems with travel, please check your passports
married tourists. Sincerely, Curator Coral Travel
How total is it? Did everyone get there or only fresh ones who changed internal passports? There are no such reliable statistics.
Sorry for the bad news.
аватар Lois-55
Please tell me, did you quote the letter from Coral Travel, and what date is it from?? Thank you

From June 12

Thanks to everyone for the answers! Today we returned from Egypt, there were 12 days. I went safely abroad again with my maiden name. My Ukrainian passport is a year old. But I’ll make a new one, I don’t want to be nervous anymore!)

Practice is the criterion of truth.
Thanks for sharing your practice.

That's right, it's better to change your passport so that you don't get nervous later. But unfortunately, this may not work for everyone and it is better to put all the documents in order in advance so as not to be nervous later.
