Cruise on the Nile
Has anyone traveled?
I saw this tour and really wanted to go. Everyone is interested: how interesting is which ship, what is with food, what is meant by "drinks only in the morning", is it worth it to go with a child of 8 years old, well, all the minuses and pluses.
I saw an offer for $290. Is this the normal price?

Aha! Now, in an unstable political situation, when a convoy of buses is escorted to Cairo by a convoy of submachine gunners, are you going on a cruise on the Nile, and even with a child??? yes, it's not normal...

You have convinced me wonderfully))

In 2008, we went to Cairo from Taba on 1 minibus from the tour operator, there was no escort, and in Cairo all buses with tourists also drove up without. So it wasn't always like that. Everyone decides for himself whether to leave the house or not. There is simply a wonderful folk wisdom: "God protects the safe!" and above all, it concerns children. Well, let them bathe in the sea, ride the slides in the hotel, and the Nile will flow between its banks for another century. A child of 8 years old can do without historical excursions! It is obvious that all this is interesting primarily for adults.

Good afternoon. I advise you to cancel the tour due to the instability in Cairo. The tour is nothing. The Nile is a very dirty river, on the boat you will be entertained with dances and other shows. Drinks are all at your expense, but please eat, it's all inclusive. The cabins are very small.
Take a boat trip on the sea, 8-10 people on a boat, for the whole day. Everything is included and food and drinks. You will not regret it, the sea away from the beaches is very beautiful. Have a nice holiday

Why is everyone talking about Cairo????? The cruise starts from Luxor!!!
Cruise itinerary:
1st day. Departure from Hurghada to Luxor. Tour of Luxor includes the east and west banks of the Nile. On the east coast you will see the Karnak temple. Its grandeur and perfection of proportions, columns, mysterious hieroglyphs carved in stone and the majestic figures of the pharaohs stagger the imagination! Then lunch and transfer by boat to the western bank of the Nile, where the "City of the Dead" is located. You will see the famous Colossi of Memnon, visit the Valley of the Kings and the temple of Queen Hatshepsut. After the excursions, you will be taken to the ship, where you will have dinner and a disco.
2nd day. After breakfast, you can enjoy the views of the picturesque banks of the Nile, sunbathe and swim in the pool. Depending on your ship's navigation schedule, you may see the ship passing through the locks near the town of Esna. And in the evening you will find a national party in galabeys (during which tourists are required to change into national Arab robes-galabeys) and a disco.

3rd day. You sail to the city of Edfu, where you will be taken by wagons to the temple of Horus - the most impressive, in size, after the Karnak temple. The temple is dedicated to the god Horus, the son of Osiris and Isis. After lunch on the ship, you will go to Kom Ombo, where you will get acquainted with the unique temple. This temple has an unusual structure (double temple) - one half is dedicated to the falcon god Horus, and the other half is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek. In the evening, on the ship, a folklore show awaits you.
4th day. Aswan. After breakfast you go on excursions. You will see the Unfinished Obelisk, which in ancient times began to be created in local quarries, and also get acquainted with the grandiose dam. The Aswan Dam is a masterpiece of modern construction in Egypt, a memory of the Soviet-Arab friendship. From the observation deck of the dam, a unique view of Lake Nasser opens (it is forbidden to use video cameras on the territory of the dam). This is the end point of our cruise.

Additionally, for a fee, you can visit the following excursions:
Abu Simbel is a rock on the western bank of the Nile, in which two famous ancient Egyptian temples from the reign of Ramses II are carved. One of the temples, large, was erected in honor of King Ramses II himself, the other, small, in honor of his first wife, Queen Nefretari.
Aswan Botanical Garden - was created by the English Lord Kitchener at the end of the last century. The island has a unique collection of African trees and flowers.
The temple complex on the island of Philae is one of the three best preserved architectural structures from the time of the Ptolemies, which includes the temple of Nectanebo I, the pavilion of Troyan, the temple of Hathor and the most important monumental temple of Isis.
The cost of the cruise includes: transfer, accommodation on a 5* liner, meals - full board, entrance tickets to museums, services of a qualified Russian-speaking guide, insurance.
The tour is wonderful, but it is worth going to the south of Egypt from November to March. The rest of the time it will be very hot. The cabins are comfortable and the food is great. Get a lot of impressions.

After describing this excursion by Turpina (sorry, if something is wrong), in my opinion, you should definitely refuse this excursion, and even with a child. We walked along the Nile (on the way to the pyramids in 2005) - nothing interesting. Really muddy, dirty river .Think carefully and make the right decision. Yes, and for such (considerable) money. God willing (and Allah too), we will live to see better times and go where we want :) Have a nice rest.

In 2005, two armored personnel carriers escorted the convoy to Luxor. Times were much calmer then, although a year before there had been a couple of terrorist attacks near hotels...
But the situation in Egypt has somehow changed lately, not for the better. So, in my opinion, you need to go either now, while STILL relatively calm, or wait ten years, hoping that it will ALREADY be calm. :)

I didn’t understand something, if the Nile is a transparent river, the more interesting the cruise? Will you look at the bottom from the ship? Don't talk nonsense! The cruise is beautiful in that while living in a room on a ship, the surrounding picture changes hourly. And the temples of southern Egypt are very worth seeing. And if you are afraid to go to Cairo, then just take only a cruise without additional options.

this is my cruise report. I liked everything, I recommend it to everyone.
And about the child, On the ship itself there is a pool, you can swim. You can take cartoons to your child and he will not get bored. And the exits to the shore are varied every time and you can interest the child. Perhaps the first day of the cruise will be difficult, because. early departure from Hurghada + a whole day of excursions, but on the rest of the days, relax and relax.
