In Egypt all year round SUMMER! It is always warm there. Personally, I have never been there in January, but friends and acquaintances were in Sharm and Hurghada during this period, they arrived tanned, rested and with a lot of impressions. Nobody was cold, it was hot during the day, and in the evening it was advised to take a sweater or a light jacket.

Was there in mid-January this year. Sunbathing, swimming (not all), but it was not comfortable, cool. It even rained at night, which is rare for Egypt, and no one went out into the street at night without a jacket. But if you want to go on excursions, then this is what you need. It's not hot and there aren't many people.

I was twice in January in different places - in Sharm and in Taba. The weather is very different and it is impossible to compare it. And year after year is also not necessary, the weather is still different. To still be warmer, it is to the very south, this is really true. It all also depends on the beach where the pontoons water is much colder than where the entry from the beach is not deep. There are a lot of different nuances.

Damn, I'm surprised by these answers. In January, the comfort of the weather in Egypt is determined by the presence or absence of wind, and not at all by geographical location. In Mars, even though it is in the south, you will simply be blown away. You need to look for hotels either in bays, or where the beaches are protected by a rock wall, and there are only such hotels in Sharm, although it is much north of Marsa. And about the"warm " water where it is not deep-also crap. Shallow water cools overnight (and the nights in January are cold, maybe 12 degrees), in the morning you simply won’t go into shallow water. Deep water cools more slowly, therefore, it is warmer there.

I was in Sharm in January, it was very warm during the day, but of course choose a hotel with heated pools, as it is cool in the evenings and the water does not have time to warm up, and the sea was warm, we really liked it during this period, and this year we want to go again, in February.

I fully support NataJen on the inconsistency between Mars Alam and January. That's where I would not want to go in January, so it's Marsa Alam! We just returned from there - already now there are strong winds, there is always a black flag on the beach, you have to swim either in the pool or very close to the coast, like in a paddling pool, so the geographical position (south) will not play a role here.
