How to choose a hotel in Egypt?
Hello! We are planning to have a family vacation in Egypt in the fall. Before that, we went to Turkey several times, and now we decided to try something new. Please tell me what to be guided by when choosing a resort, hotel? in November with the weather there? Thanks in advance!

When choosing a hotel, you need to be guided by your own preferences. In order for you to be able to advise something, you need to voice your wishes. In Sharm El Sheikh
most beaches have an entrance to the depth from the pier, you can’t enter from the shore, there is dead coral. In Hurghada, many hotels have a good entrance from the shore, but there are no beautiful coral reefs. And to look with a mask at fish and corals is one of the main entertainments in Egypt. It's amazingly interesting.
There are also hotels far from cities. They stand in the desert, a kind of reservation for tourists. There are deserted beaches for many kilometers and no civilization. This is for lovers of a secluded quiet holiday and beautiful reefs - Marsa Alam, El Quseir.
There is also El Gouna - a European closed resort, but it is located in a muddy lagoon, they are taken to the beach in a boat or bass. And so - the pool. Expensive hotels there have access to the open sea. In Safaga - sandy beaches, but practically no corals. In general, decide what you need, what budget of the trip, from which city, and they will advise you.
It's warm during school holidays, but prices skyrocket.

I agree with Kasja23, it is very important when choosing a hotel to know the budget of the trip and the number of days. And in Hurghada there are several good hotels that have both a sandy beach and their own "home" coral. For the first trip to Egypt, this combination is very optimal. In November, the weather is very comfortable, the sweltering heat is gone.

I’ll start with the budget. True, I don’t know if this is enough in Egypt ... In general, I count on 100 rubles per thousand. About 10-14 days. I would like a quiet hotel with beautiful territory. the road. Discos and noisy parties are absolutely not important. And, of course, I want to see the marvelous underwater world: fish, corals ... Can you think of something according to these requests, or is the amount still not enough for this?

As I understand it, the trip is planned from Moscow, since the city is not specified?
I would choose Sunrise Royal Makadi. You will enter it for 14 days with such a budget. Or Baron Palms in Sharm.
Baron has one of the best SHES reefs. In Sunrise, the reef is average, but in Makadi you can walk along the shore of all the hotels - there is a good reef of Arabesque Prima hotels nearby.
Just keep in mind that in Egyptian hotels there is no main focus on food, as in Turkey. But in Turkey there is no such interesting underwater world.

About food - it depends on which hotel! I am not strong in Sharm hotels, but in Hurghada I would recommend Citadel Azur Resort 5 *, UALL, 3 lagoons, there is wildlife in the Royal, and what! For the first time very even! The hotel itself is a masterpiece, "cut down" in the rock, beautiful places are dark, the food is super! And if you still settle in the 4th, 5th building! In general, read, choose! A little cheaper than Hilton Plaza 5 * (service level "at the level"), Sunrise Garden Resort 5 *.

I'm sorry that I didn't indicate the city. Ekaterinburg. It's a little more expensive than going on vacation from Moscow ... Apparently, the budget will have to be increased?
аватар Kasja23
Yes, that's the first pitfall))) Tours are sold by a smaller number of operators from you.
In Sharm, only Baron Resort 5 * (not Baron Palm) is from you, it is more expensive, although better. For 10 days - 102 147.
There your child still passes as a child. For example, in Citadel Azur - he is already considered the third adult. And the cost for 11 days is 109,148.
In Makadi, the most decent hotel from you is Stella Makadi (there is no Sunrise Royal Makadi, as well as Makadi Palace with Grand Makadi, and all Madinat hotels).
Stella is more modest, with a long pier and the corals are very far away, for very good swimmers.
аватар Kasja23
Forgot to add the price. Stella is now for 11 days about 82 thousand. There, too, the child goes as the third adult.

kovalevskay, I'm also from ECB. To date, not all TO give October prices for Egypt from Yekaterinburg. I think you are already worrying in vain :)) Last year, just in October, I was looking for a cheap tour to Turkey, and looked at Egyptian prices. There were good special offers, it was possible to fly to a very decent hotel together for 50-60 thousand. I think if you don’t have any preferences for the hotel yet, you can easily wait until August-September to search for it. And you have a good trip budget, even from our Koltsovo, where planes are "filled with liquid gold" (this is my kind of joke about our prices :))) you can find a decent tour.

Of course, it's too early to look for a hotel for a vacation in November, but it's such a pleasant procedure to prepare for a vacation that I always start the search in advance. Dear PolikSVT, can I really have a rest in a 5* hotel on my budget? Or 5* in Egypt yet does not mean quality and comfort? And another question. My son dreams of seeing the pyramids. How about excursions? How expensive are they?
аватар PolikSVT
kovalevskay, do not hesitate! You have an excellent trip budget, and if you also have 10 days, then it’s generally super. It's just that it's still difficult to talk about autumn prices, the dollar's exchange rate has fallen again. And the situation in Egypt is tense, so a trip to Cairo to the pyramids today is out of the question! Tourists are now advised to sit in hotels and not stick their nose out. Excursions at prices are approximately commensurate with Turkish prices, it all depends on who to go with and on what program. The excursion to the pyramids itself is quite tiring, you leave the hotel at 2 am and return at 11-12 am, i.e. almost a day. The road to Cairo takes an average of 7 hours one way. Our program included: Pyramids, Sphinx, Perfume Factory, Papyrus Museum, Cairo Museum (this is the best of all, but there is very little time allotted for visiting it, and there is no energy at the end of the day :))) The price was 65 dollars per person (we went with MOT, but with a street agency it is possible and cheaper).

And as for the coziness and comfort of the Egyptian "fives", this, like Turkey, is not yet a guarantee of a good holiday, there are excellent 4 *. While there is time, just study the information about hotels, decide on your preferences (I usually write down the ones I like), and only then it will be easier to navigate with prices. Good luck searching!

I would advise you to visit Taboo in Movenpick or Hilton in November there under 30, water 25, near Israel, the border is 300m, you can go on an excursion to Jerusalem or Jordan, or Eilat.
аватар kovalevskay_
Indeed, a very beautiful hotel and territory. In any case, judging by the photographs. But is 100-120 thousand rubles enough for three people to relax? Hilton is an expensive brand in itself ...
аватар igor77770
I rested in Movenpick in October 2011, I took a standard, settled in a bungalow for 13 nights 1352 dollars.
аватар kovalevskay_
Well, the option is interesting ... Thanks for the advice!
аватар PolikSVT
Ukrainian prices cannot even be closely compared with ours, ours are definitely 25-30% more expensive (especially from the EKB). Hilton is an affordable option for your budget (the hotel is already quite old), Movenpick will be more expensive and the service will be much higher. It’s worth going to Taba, if only you are aiming at Israel or Jordan, sawing an extra 200 km from the airport - Taba is not worth it (my opinion). There, back in 2008, the entire road was at checkpoints, I can imagine what is happening now. I think it is better to forget about Taboo in this turbulent period.
аватар igor77770
In Egypt, I met a couple whose standard cost DBL 1200 dollars 14n in Movenpick, they arrived from Omsk, there is an airport in Taba, 40 minutes to the hotel.
аватар PolikSVT
I am aware of the airport, there are no flights from EKB to Taba, and in the off-season very few TOs fly to Taba. I admit such prices in winter, in the high season - this is the price for 1 person. for 8-9 nights, or during turbulent times.

Of course, I want to have a comfortable rest with my family, but I am absolutely not chasing 5 * hotels. From the practice of past holidays in Turkey, I know that you can find a decent hotel and a 4 * one, at a cost equal to some of the declared fives. You just need to look , ask ... I think Egypt has a similar situation. I repeat that I really want to see a beautiful territory, have the opportunity to see the amazing underwater world of the Red Sea, and, of course, less rudeness and not well-groomed hotel itself. By the way, tell me, with What age is a child already equal to an adult when ordering a tour to Egypt?
аватар PolikSVT
The situation is the same as in Turkey, basically from the age of 12. It must be remembered that the lion's share of the cost is the price of a charter flight. The gradation is as follows: 0-2, 2-5.99, 5.99-12. In some hotels it can be up to 13.99. And my favorite 4 * in Hurghada: Beach Albatros Resort, Arabia Azur, Arabella Azur (the last 2 have very beautiful house reefs).
аватар Lenok2009
Look at Concords (in Sport, children under 15, although the 2nd line, but not at all annoying) decent service, good food, a short pontoon, near Soho. In November, the tour must be bought in advance, then the price will be lower, closer to the holidays, prices begin to rise, and the choice of hotels is noticeably thinner.
