Where is it better to spend a week of vacation in Hurghada or in Sharm El Sheikh? And to which city are the pyramids closer?
I want to relax in Egypt, but I don’t know where exactly to go.
I really want to combine the rest with an excursion to Cairo (to look at the pyramids), as well as go diving. Please tell me which city is the most suitable for me. And the question is also very interesting: how long does it take to get to the pyramids from Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh?

if you are interested in diving and pyramids, then it is better to Sharm. There, the underwater world is more interesting and Cairo is closer (you can see it on the map). Hurghada is also interesting, but everyone goes to Sharm for diving. And Luxor is closer from Hurghada. The trip from Hurghada to Cairo takes about 6 hours by bus. You have to go at night.

Indeed, diving and snorkeling is better in Sharm, although in Hurghada you can find no less worthy place (for example, the Sharm El Naga reserve). To go to the pyramids is approximately the same if by bus. True, you can also go by plane, but it will come out much more expensive, although much more comfortable :)

Definitely Charm is better. In addition, from Sharm you can go on an excursion to Israel (the same time as Cairo). No visa problems. We paid $250 per person for the tour. Mass of impressions.

People, do not mislead np486! From Sharm, the bus travels about 6 hours, from Hurghada - 8-9 hours, for example, our departure from Hurghada was at 3 am (our hotel was the penultimate one in terms of arrivals). If you can swim normally and are not afraid of coral reefs, you will definitely go to Sharm, but keep in mind that the prices for tours there are 50-100 dollars more.

as already mentioned, it takes 8 hours to go from Hurghada to the pyramids (Cairo), from Sharm through the Suez Canal a little less. If you are interested in corals - they say it's better in Sharm, but we were in Hurghada at the Coral Beach Rotana Resort (4 *) - there are corals, and fish, and stingrays, and some other creatures (unfortunately, we didn’t know what they are called) . So - it's up to you.
*** If you have not yet chosen whether to go to the pyramids or to Luxor (it is more interesting and you can climb everywhere), then I advise Luxor - and then, accordingly, to Hurghada))

The pyramids are Cairo. Despite the previous message, I affirm that the distances from Sharm and Hurghada to Cairo differ by about 50 km. The total distance is 530-580 km. Travel time depends more on what your hotel is on the bill when loading tourists and what condition the bus is in. So the pyramids do not affect the choice of recreation area. Unless, of course, you want to go significantly south of Hurghada. There is no single answer to the question “where is it better”. An objective indicator is the number of flights to Sharm and Hurga

Very interested in:
- what sights can be seen in Luxor?
- what for what (excursions (Cairo, Luxor), diving)
- Do all hotels offer excursions (or do you have to go somewhere to negotiate)
- which hotels in Hurghada (Sharm El Sheikh) are not worth going to

Definitely don't go to 3 stars. In Hurghada there is such a Golden5 hotel. This is a complex of several hotels of different stars. Travel agencies say that the food is bad there, but in fact the biggest drawback of this hotel is the mosque, which is built at the exit of the hotel. And all vacationers wake up at 5 am to the sound of prayer. Not very pleasant, given that people go on vacation to sleep off. In 4 * service is almost no different from 5 *. Of course, fives are more luxurious.

In Hurghada, I somehow did not find where in the city you can take a walk in the evening. Therefore, it is better to take a hotel with a developed infrastructure. In Sharm, there are many bars, restaurants and discos in the center, and in general it is very beautiful. In Hurghada, Bedouins come and offer hashish at every turn. Charm is more civilized and safer. And one more thing: in Sharm it is still better to take a hotel closer to the center, to entertainment, but in Hurghada this makes no sense. Have a nice rest.

if you go to Egypt for the first time, then it’s better to go to Sharm el-Sheikh, the underwater world is more beautiful there and closer to Cairo, various excursions ... diving is also better in Shar el-Sheikh

This is my purely personal opinion:
Charm, Charm, and again Charm,
BUT
One thing to keep in mind: Sharm is a paradise for both divers and snorkellers on the surface. Whoever and whatever tells you - no "reefs" of Hurghada can be compared with the reefs of Sharma! Definitely.
Otherwise, my family never travels on excursions to other cities either by bus or by planes of local airlines. It is impossible to harness a donkey and a quivering doe into one cart.

Sharm is more expensive, more Europeanized, safer. Met color - zero. (Behind him, as I already said - when it is cooler and the road is straight, without mixing sour with fresh).
If you want to see the stunning sea - this is Sharm.
Everything else is not there ... Service in Egyptian is a weak service. In Hurghada even weaker than in Sharm. The sea - if not with a mask, but just splashing around - is very salty.

At the same time, one important fact must be taken into account: in the Naama Bay area (the center of Sharm), the beaches were cleaned up. There, the entrance to the sea is convenient, sandy. Reef, respectively, is not normal. So choose - either areas such as Nabq, Sharks Bay and other new areas where the beach is reef (entrance to the sea from a pontoon, no sandy beach), BUT a luxurious underwater world. Or a convenient sandy beach and the question is - what am I doing here? The sea is beautiful - the cleanest ... But it's still not for floundering. It is for contemplation and consideration.

Here is a photo - Concord Hotel, July 2007. Photo from the surface, camera - underwater Olympus (up to 3 meters). Photo amateur, without additional. lighting and mainly in the shallows, where there are more stones than corals. You won’t get a complete picture, but as a first approximation you can understand why a person goes to Sharm.
Have a good rest. :)))))

Help me please. I can't decide which hotel to choose. We are planning to go in December. We decided that in Sharm El Sheikh. But we can't choose a hotel. Everything about them is beautifully painted everywhere, but when I read reviews, a completely different picture is obtained. Looking for an all inclusive hotel. Please advise something.

But who will tell you about the temperature of the water in the sea? When in the spring you can safely enter the sea. For me, this is no less than +20 ..

Reef Oasis Beach Resort 5 * - excellent hotel, was in early February 2010, the weather was 28-30 WEATHER, the sea was fabulous, there were winds, but only 2 days. The hotel is both party and family, the area is large.

I have been to Sharm 3 times. this year I want to see Hurghada. But I think it's worth going there or is it better to go back to Sharm?
аватар sherova
the question is ripe: was anyone on vacation in February? how is the sea and what is the weather. I am assured that the sea is warm, but I doubt something.

question cancelled.
