Thanks for answers! Another question: is it very windy in January? If the sea is stormy, you will not swim.

Shams is good because you can always swim there. Wonderful bay with turtles surrounded by corals

In Mars, winter is usually WIND. there are practically no bays of the type of some - in charm - practically.
If the bay closes from the waves for the northwest wind traditional in winter ..... this can be seen on the map on wikimapia - from the wave of which wind the coral will close, then from the wind itself .... alas. I do not know such bays in Mars. Maybe Shams Alam is unique in this sense, but it is unlikely.
So most likely cold blowing before and after bathing is guaranteed. It is better to have a towel when you go out or swim in a wetsuit.
And so - I envy your future snork.

Good day to all. After 8 months, having visited Marsa Alam in January, I want to talk about the weather this month. I will say right away: it feels cold in January. The weather from 7 to 17 January was cool. At a temperature of 19-21 * C during the day, the wind constantly blows, so even during the day we went in windbreakers, and in the late afternoon, we generally wore jackets on synthetic winterizer, and under jeans we also had cotton tights (we are not from the freezing category). About swimming in the sea: the water temperature was 21*C, we swam in 5mm diving suits. You don’t swim for a long time, you start to freeze. The head and back are especially cold, because. these parts of the body are on the surface, and the wind is blowing there. I think that you definitely need a helmet with a thickness of 5mm (no less). A special tin when you get out of the water. You should immediately put on a warm hat on your head, otherwise ear diseases cannot be avoided. Maybe we were not very lucky with the weather, but we will not go to Egypt again in January.

We also went on excursions to Luxor and Abu Simbel. I want to warn everyone who goes on these excursions in winter: the way to these cities lies through the desert, and since you have to leave almost at night, dress like you dress in Russia at temperatures from 0 to -5 * C. It is VERY cold in the desert in the mornings, and it is not hot on the bus either.
Conclusion: although we had a good rest, swam and went on excursions, we will not go to Egypt again in winter. It is better to rest there in November-early December. Both the weather and the sea are warm. And in January we will now go skiing in Russia.
