Is it worth going?
From our year, planes fly only to Hurghada, it turns out that in addition to 7 hours by plane, you will have to travel a few more hours to the hotel (how long does the transfer to Marsa Alam take). A question for connoisseurs: is the long road of rest in Marse Alam worth it, and what are the advantages of rest in front of Hurghada (I would like both a sandy entrance and the presence of corals). Charm is not considered.

Shops and other parties are not interested. I want peace and quiet

Those who care about the SEA, as well as peace and quiet, need to go to Mars. Of course, the road is not close, but it's worth it, the main thing is to choose a hotel that meets your requirements.

Then if you (other parties are not interested), then of course it's worth it!

If the road is scary, then you can, after all, in Makkadi and Soma Bay, this is closer to Hurghada (not party places)
аватар jabetta
But, it must be taken into account that the reefs there are no longer the same as in Mars.
аватар alex45
But you don’t have to start from Mars. Near Soma Bay is the Sharm el-Naga nature reserve, it’s very convenient for beginners there.

In Mars (as in most hotels in Egypt) there are very few hotels where there is a sandy entry into the sea.
And what does not suit the entry on the pontoon? Just corals, isn't that why you want to go there?
I once went to Mars from Hurghada. I did not like it (not worth it), next time if I go to Mars, then only through the airport of Mars.

It takes 3.5-4 hours to get to Marsa from Hurghada, depending on where your hotel is located.
If the tour is a week, then it’s not worth going, the road back and forth eats up time. Then just fly to Marsa airport.
But if you intend to rest for more days, then this is the best choice of vacation spot, as for me.
We rested twice in Braika Bay - the entrance is sandy, gradual, the corals are just super. Near Abu Dabab, you can admire the turtles.

I also agree that it makes no sense to go for a week - the road is too long. For example, we agree to overcome this road for the sake of the beauties there, but this, as they say, to each his own. As for the reserves, this is not your own hotel reef and you don’t run into it every day. You just need to prioritize and everything will work out.

we are transported for 12 nights and on the day of arrival we are in Hurghada at 17.00 and the departure is unsuccessful at 23.00, in any case, these two days take off from rest, because all the time on the day of departure after lunch we are already sitting in the lobby. And the pontoon is scary because they always rested in hotels with a smooth entry and the presence of corals. But we don’t consider Makkadi because we have inaccessible price tags in good hotels, so we decided to try Marsa this year. We just can't deal with hotels. For some reason, the distance from Hurghada to some hotels differs very much. They are so far apart from each other. In Hurghada, everything is clear there, hotel after hotel. And here is another picture

and the road to Marsa passes through the mountains as to Taba (winding, steep) or along the plain
аватар elenako
The road is flat, along the sea, it's nice to watch.
Hotels are located far from each other - we are talking about several kilometers.
If you have such an arrival and departure, then feel free to go to Mars. You will not regret it.
There are no corals like there either in Sharm or in Hurghada.
Moreover, house reefs are very rich in living creatures.

See on the map how the hotels in Marsa Alam are located.
Therefore, the journey takes from 3 to 4 hours.

In case of an unsuccessful late departure, you can leave your things at the reception, and in a separate bag you can change your clothes - and enjoy your vacation by the sea to the last!

As noted above, "peace and quiet" is in Mars.
Transfer to Marsa is usually a minibus Toyota HiAys. Almost individual :) You won't have to wait for a healthy bus to load up and go to hotels. For me, the road is so easy to carry around - know for yourself your eyes on the passing landscapes, then save on excursions because you have seen enough already :))))
The day of arrival / departure anyway falls out of the rest for anyone, and it's not just about extra hours on the road.
PS. we usually get on the time "from threshold to threshold" of the order of 20-23 hours. And nothing ... we are only maniacs of Mars !!!

I highly recommend the Kahramana Beach Resort or Kahramana Garden (cheaper), peace and quiet, the sea is gorgeous and the road didn’t bother me at all. I’ll be back more than once! the sea (no one cut off the bracelets) then for 5 dollars we were given a room for 30 minutes to take a shower and change clothes.
аватар jabetta
O! I support! Kahramana (but only a beach, not a garden) is a super hotel! We also dream of returning there when we explore the whole of Mars.
аватар lena70.08
We only sell only Kahramana garden, but what's the difference?
аватар jabetta
The hotel (garden) is located on the second line, the territory is small, the rooms are tiny, the feeding is not so hot. In general, the real difference in these two hotels is much more than their price.

I do not really agree about the individual transfer to Marsa hotels. We went to distant hotels - the road took 4.5 and 5.5 hours. On the way we stopped at THREE (!)
hotel. Infotur.
аватар volkis
:) Well, that means no luck.
out of four trips to Marsa on a big bus they drove only once and then back. Yes, when the carriers follow the rules, it seems to go for a long time. but usually they run under 130-140 km / h.
but in general the feeling of "longitude" is strictly individual :) for me, even 200 km is not a detour :)))))

indeed, if the priorities are peace and quiet
and of course a beautiful underwater world
then definitely Marsa Alam is what you need!
the main thing is to choose the right rest period
and hotel accommodation in the resort
so that because of the wind you don’t have to sit by the pool all the time

I love the Iberotel, it is the smallest in the bay.. there are 5 hotels to choose from
аватар bishnya
should allow direct flights from September or October to Marsik
аватар jabetta
Well, this, unfortunately, only shines for the Russians, and even then, only from Moscow.
аватар bishnya
well, yes, sorry ... but we are looking forward to it
аватар jabetta
I envy in a good way, but not enough to be very impressed. For the sake of Marsa, I agree to go from Hurghada - it's worth it!
