The most memorable excursion to Abu Dabab Bay for me. Huge turtles. Luxor is not very good. 6 hours, tiring, hot. In general, there is no point in climbing to Mars to go to Luxor, Cairo, etc. The main thing is the sea. My wife and I are flying back to Mars in two weeks. Again, the beauty of the sea pulls there. I recommend going to Marsa Shagra (not far there), you can take a taxi at the reception or try the dive center. The price will depend on your bargaining skills, but be aware that there Beach Yuz costs 15 Euros per person (official fee), but it's worth it. Still there is not far from Mars Moray (free admission, there are umbrellas). You can move south and visit Hamata and Sharm Lyuli, but this is already more than 100 km.

Yes, they went to Luxor along their own road, through the ancient city on the Nile, Idfu, and returned again through it. We drove to Luxor from the south, and not like in the classic tours from the north :) It took about 4.5 hours on the road. On a trip from the south, there is something to see :) The second place where one could go is Aswan, in fact, there is also something to see there, Aswan will not be offered anywhere in one day, except in Marsa Alam per person $ 130-140.
