I want to share my impressions of my 34th holiday in Egypt. Stayed in Marsa Alam for the first time at the hotel "Beach Safari Nubian Resort 4*", system "all inclusive". She chose the hotel based on reviews and for the first time faced the fact that the reality did not correspond to the reviews. After 3 days, I changed the hotel and it was absolutely the right thing to do.
I arrived at the hotel in the afternoon. We were greeted very kindly at the reception, checked in immediately. Room on the second floor, side view of the sea. The room is large, cozy and very beautiful, in the Nubian style. But almost everything did not work properly: the door to the balcony did not close well, the hairdryer barely held on to one pin, the safe did not open, the refrigerator did not freeze, the front door to the room opened very hard, the shower did not work well and there was almost no hot water. It was easier to change the number than to ask for everything to be repaired. I was given another room, in which everything was also not working.
But here, although there was soap in the shower and hot water appeared after 5 minutes of waiting. She decided to stay in this room. On the second day, the lock broke, and I could not get into the room. Hotel employees had to completely disassemble the lock, but they got into the room only through the nearby balcony. I waited for about 1 hour. I was never able to open the safe, because of this my silver chain got lost somewhere.
The territory of the hotel is tiny, there is nowhere to walk. The style of the buildings is oriental, in white and blue colors, Nubian, very beautiful. But there are almost no plants. For the first time I see such bald and dry flower beds. A very sad sight. A lot of construction debris is scattered near the buildings. There is a pool and a pool bar, but the bar was not working, although it was fully equipped.
Food: the choice of dishes is very small, but they are prepared normally. The hotel is definitely not suitable for gourmets, but you won't go hungry. There is a small selection of vegetables and fruits.
I don't know where the reviews about "fine dining" come from, but it's definitely not true.
One all-inclusive bar. The selection is also small. I took only red wine, it tasted normal. I was pleased with the availability of coffee.
Sea. As you understand, without visiting the hotel, it is very difficult to assess what the underwater world is like there, the reviews are very subjective. It is because of the sea that this hotel is absolutely not suitable for people like me. Snorkeling is my number one priority on holiday in Egypt, I am a very experienced swimmer. In the reviews, they write about the rich underwater world near the hotel and about excellent snorkeling. My first swim from the pier of this hotel turned out to be my last. Moreover, for the first time in my life I almost drowned, although I am a very strong swimmer.
On the first day of my stay at the hotel, I came to the beach, took a towel from the lifeguard and asked him if I could swim, because there were waves on the sea. He said he could.
I swam a lot in the Red Sea and with waves too, if there is no current, then it's not scary. I put on my mask, got off the pontoon and swam south along the coral. The reef is gray, the underwater world is not interesting, there are much better places for snorkeling in Marsa Alam. As I returned to the pontoon, the wind got stronger and the waves even bigger. I swam with all my might against the strong current, but the current turned out to be stronger. I was picked up and began to be carried into the open sea, I took off my mask and began to scream, but the lifeguard was not on the pontoon or anywhere nearby, although he knew that he had a person swimming in the sea. In my mind, I had already said goodbye to life, but I tried not to panic, so as not to collect water from my lungs. A huge wave forcefully threw me onto the coral cover. Fortunately, the lid was dead and not very sharp, and I only slightly cut my toe. It is very important in such a situation to get out of the water quickly so that the smell of blood does not have time to attract predators.
All 3 days of my stay at the hotel there was a very strong wind, it was not comfortable to be on the beach, and the sea was very stormy, I did not risk swimming anymore. Someone will say that everything depends on the weather, but my experience shows how important the location is, in Marsa Alam there are hotels where the beaches are well equipped with barriers from the wind, and the entrance to the sea is a bay where you can swim all year round regardless of the season.
Service is a very weak point of the hotel. The lifeguard is often not on site, so you have to wait a long time to get a towel. In the bar, the service is very reluctant and with such a facial expression that you don't want to approach again. Again, bartenders are often absent from the workplace.
Animation in the hotel surprised. The animation team is present, but they hardly do anything. In the evening, the chief animator simply sits at the table next to the guests and simply talks to them, or shows card tricks.
Once I saw a fakir show performed by the animation team, the level is quite weak compared to the shows I have seen before. But if you need a taxi, the animators will organize it for you, that's their business.
To summarize: the hotel has a very poor location for snorkeling, a small bald and dry area, many problems with the equipment and plumbing in the rooms, mediocre food and rude service. The hotel is very sad and there is absolutely nothing to do. The only plus is a very good design of buildings and rooms. But the price for it is very high and does not correspond to the quality of rest at all. I don't even know to which category of tourists it can be recommended. I was in Marsa Alam even in a 3* hotel and I liked it much more and the price was lower.
What was particularly unpleasant was the fact that the hotel management probably orders reviews to artificially raise the rating of the hotel instead of investing in the territory and service. I have never encountered such an open lie. This hotel is one of the worst in Marsa Alam, there are many hotels with beautiful bays, better service, more varied cuisine, greener and larger area, which cost less. I changed the hotel without extra payment to a 5* hotel and never once regretted it.
Have a nice rest! If you have any questions, write, I will definitely answer!
