I won’t say anything bad about the hotel itself and the rooms are clean and the food is delicious and the waiters are great, the pool seemed a little small to me and 300 meters to the beach, that’s probably all the comments.
I really liked Port Ghalib itself - a picturesque place, you can get to it by boat or walk about 3 kilometers around the marina.
I recommend the hotel for a relaxing holiday by the sea, it will be boring here with children, but just right for a couple.
Plane + 3 hours by bus.

It takes 10 minutes to row to the beach, but here, oh horror, there is no pontoon... Do you want to go to the sea? Go ahead, and don't cry - climb the stones and these very unfortunate corals, first you will tear your legs and arms. But another thing is insulting - the water is muddy, always. The hotel itself is stupid on the pier, ships and boats scurry around all day - tin!
***
Water is given out 2 bottles of 0.5 per day, you cannot take it with you in the dining room.

I did see a dugong, once in 5 trips to the Marsa Mubarak Bay (wandering in the desert for 25 minutes, along the sandy mountains, along the coast, through the beaches of hotels, with a security guard (well, at least they are allowed to walk... )
Bay: a place, a sandy shore, with the ability to go into the sea, like a wild one, so dugong (seabirds) swim there to eat grass, but, alas, they will soon stop, because a hotel is being built, the shore is being hammered at full speed for a pontoon... very very sad.
The dugong bug is beautiful, it was my only goal and great joy.
And I also looked at the turtle up close, it has very funny nails.
P. S. The food is scarce, a delicious dessert is generally once every three days.
Indeed, the sea was impressive: we saw turtles almost every day. and a sea cow, but all kinds of corals and fish are just super. We went, as written below, to the bay of Marsa Mubarak twice a week, both times we saw turtles and a small reef shark. Turtles were also seen on our beach three times. But a cow (sea) was only seen when we went on an excursion. So everything is fine with the sea. And the only thing is that there is no pontoon on the beach. At first, it bothered me personally, but then we bought corals and got used to it.
But the hotel as for 4 *, I think is not bad. The food was excellent, everything in the room worked. There were no problems, so the interaction with the staff was minimal. Yes, drinks in the restaurant are only on order, and only in the morning there is coffee, tea, water and lemonades freely available. For lunch and dinner, everything must be ordered (as for me, this is also not very convenient).
I also liked the location of the hotel, since in Mars only Port Ghalib has at least some kind of infrastructure, the rest of the hotels are just in the desert. So if you want to take a walk somewhere other than the hotel, then choose hotels in Porto. Of course, those that are 5 * are better, but if "finances sing romances", then this hotel is also possible.
But in principle, we returned from vacation in a great mood, went for new experiences and we got them.
. I have a rest in Egypt not for the first time and always read the reviews.
Reading the reviews, I drew myself a picture of a calm, comfortable hotel, not very pretentious, but at the same time comfortable
So, in order: - we arrived at eight, at the reception they kept us until 12, everyone was hungry and thirsty. According to the all-inclusive package, we were provided with water and food for money. But this is half the trouble!
There is practically no shade on the territory (we arrived when it was +50) There is no cover near the pools (several umbrellas), Tables near the bar in the scorching sun. There is no air conditioning at the reception and the bar, there is a swarm of flies. relatives, you come out of there, as if from a steam room, in addition, bitten by flies and mosquitoes. The same unsanitary conditions are in the dining room, although the air conditioner works, it is felt, because water drips on your head. you need to beg from the waiter, and then wait 15-20 minutes, despite the fact that alcohol is not served in the dining room (except for wine)
The situation with the beach is even worse. To get to the beach, you need to walk through the desert, through the shining sun, which bakes at 7 in the morning for about 5 minutes. Therefore, do not listen that a half-hour walk through the desert in Marsa Mubarak (where turtles live) is not tiring. After you get there, you still need to swim to the turtles, and then, by the same sun, return home. The bar on the beach is another mockery. The tables near the bar are on a concrete platform without covering. you need to walk along the reef cover to get to the corals. Uncomfortable, but tolerable.
The sea is beautiful, if the ships don’t mess with the water. And since this is a port, the ships go constantly, and the sea is very often muddy, so you can’t always see this beauty. (that day was my son’s birthday) $109 was stolen from my room (the safe in the room didn’t work). When I reported this to the administrator, he and our guide offered me to take a taxi for my money and go to the police, who located 80 km from the hotel. And if the fact of theft is not proven, I will be responsible before their law for slander!!! ! Unfortunately, we are defenseless there! My impression is that those who wrote positive reviews about this hotel were interested in some way. By the way, about going to the Divino fish restaurant. We ordered a plate of seafood without fish, expecting to enjoy it. The result is a complete disappointment!
The lobster is small, dry, (most of all frozen), shrimp like grass, mussels (3 pcs. ) and squids turned out to be edible. We paid $ 32 for this plate. We didn’t like it!
Let's start with flights. Join, as always, felt strange. I originally booked from 10 to 17 May. Shortly before departure, a representative of the travel agency called and said that there would be no direct flight for these dates (only through Hurghada), offered a direct flight either on the 8th or 12th. Well, instead of Zhulyan, the flight was moved from Boryspil. Since I was not tied to specific dates, I took it on the 8th. Knowing the reputation of Join Up in this regard, I was ready for such turns of events. The return flight was scheduled for 6.30, then moved to 8.40, then, apparently, to 14.40, and finally to 16.30. If only not earlier. And so it turns out that they gave us another half day of rest. Departure to the airport was at 13.00. And although the check-out at this hotel is at 12.00, the bracelets were not cut off, so we still managed to have lunch and could use the bar.
Now about the hotel itself. If earlier there were only a few compatriots here, now this hotel is gaining more and more popularity among our people. There were twenty people with me. The reason is the optimal price-quality ratio, and, of course, direct flights to Marsa Alam. So, a double for 7 nights can be taken for 15.000 UAH, a single for less than 9.500 UAH. (Now I look at the site it was 9200 UAH. ). I don’t know if it’s possible to buy a tour to a normal hotel in Marsa Alam for the same price, I think it’s unlikely. I took an early booking in March (I thought that for the May holidays you need to take it in advance so that it is cheaper, but in fact I made a mistake, overpaid significantly). Therefore, early booking is an ambiguous issue.
The hotel is simple, without frills, but there is some kind of homeliness in it, as some members of the forum have already written. I fully support them. Quiet, calm environment, clean well-groomed area, a minimum of people, just right for relaxation. The staff is friendly and unobtrusive. They come up, offer excursions, massages, etc. , and if you refuse, they don’t bother you anymore.
As for food: the choice is not very large, but since I am not a gourmet and do not like to overeat, everything was tasty and enough for me. All dishes are standard for Egyptian hotels, only the assortment is smaller.
Beach: coral slippers are not desirable, but mandatory if you want to feel comfortable, and not go into the water like a minefield. Near the beach, everything is trampled and broken, so to see normal corals you need to swim further to the end of the bay and if there is no wind, swim along the coast. Interesting specimens come across in the bay: I once saw a manta and two turtles at once. I wanted to swim to the opposite shore to the Palace, but the guards (bastards) did not let me in, they whistled and turned back.
Weather: the first day there was a very strong wind, it was impossible to swim even in the bay. For two days it gradually subsided and it was possible to swim comfortably. Therefore, the seasonality of the winds in Mars is a relative concept: in winter it can be completely calm for a week, and in summer it can blow strongly (you can’t guess here).
Marsa Mubarak Bay (another reason for the popularity of this hotel): everything is unchanged, go through the Three Corners, at the entrance and exit, tell the guards that you are from the Marina Lodge and pass without any problems. Turtles are not always found. During my four visits to the bay, I once saw as many as five pieces, the rest of the times - not a single one. Didn't see a dugong either. But my fellow travelers (a guy and a girl) were lucky: they saw him from the shore, immediately into the water, and swam with him. Another fellow traveler of mine saw it when he was on a tour boat. They say that it is more likely to meet him either early in the morning or in the evening, because he does not like heat.
What else: between the Palace Port Ghalib hotel and a private villa there is a small cove - civilization has not yet reached there (luxurious coral gardens, many fish, I even saw a reef shark). Those who like not to sit still for a long time can take a water taxi to Port Ghalib, walk a little and enjoy the beauty of the untouched underwater world. Well, for a change, you can take a walk in Port Ghalib itself (I went there twice along the bay).
Conclusion: lovers of a relaxing holiday, snorkeling / diving, who have a limited budget - can safely go to this hotel.
Wifi at reception is very weak. Constantly knocks out.
Europeans rest in the hotel, who lie around the pool for days, inhaling chlorine vapors. Sooo many Arabs....
The hotel is located generally separate from all communications. The hotel has small souvenir shops. To the nearest store go 30-40 minutes on foot in the heat.
Before the market opposite, on the embankment the same number. Or a water taxi for $2 per person.
Mosquitoes are poisoned.
There is not much variety in the dining room. But in fairness, I want to say that everything we ate was delicious. We never went hungry.
All the time we were at the hotel, the strongest wind blew. On the beach with sun loungers without wind protection, sand poured into the eyes, into the mouth. The towels kept blowing away. The entrance to the sea is not very convenient. there is nowhere to swim. There is no Pantone.
To the left of the beach there is an entry into the sea along the reef. This saved us a bit. They say turtles used to swim there. But we didn't see. The fish are normal for the Red Sea. But it's still beautiful. A little scary, looking at the abyss and realizing that there are no rescuers, you are on your own. Several times we saw a meter-long fish similar to tuna. Very scared.
Once we went to Marsa Mubarak Bay. Walk 45 minutes. Again, the wind was so strong that we were blown away, it was impossible to climb into the water. For this reason, neither dugong nor turtles were seen.
Animation in the hotel is very weak. Nothing to look at at all.
Bathyscaphe became the only entertainment. Very nice, lots of positive emotions. We saw a turtle. Before sailing, they give everyone pills for motion sickness, although this did not save everyone. : )
The hotel will be good for divers who come to spend the night. The rest of the melancholy is green. I don't recommend it at all. Four is too much for this hotel. A maximum of three. We were saved by the fact that there was a company from Ukraine. we met at the hotel and we entertained each other, went shopping, because it's scary. . .
Another unpleasant surprise was the lack of dry. soldering with you. For the Arabs prepared a lot of cakes. And for us, leaving at 4-30 in the morning, there was nothing. That is, no breakfast on the day of arrival, no breakfast on the day of departure. Very convenient hotel. And that last day didn't actually exist at all.
In short, it was very budgetary for the same money to go to the best hotel on a last minute. This hotel is about nothing.
The hotel itself and the rooms are not new, but everything worked for us, we got a nice quiet room overlooking a piece of the garden (and access to it, 1st floor) and the port with the sea received at no extra charge. The staff is generally without complaints, not intrusive sufficient service.
Food - worthy 4 *, quite varied and tasty, there were not many excessively spicy dishes. The disadvantage is that some popular dishes were not updated and were only available for those who came at the beginning of lunch / dinner.
It was inhabited by 50% Germans, 20% Italians and the rest - Russian speakers.
Beach. Pros: within walking distance, well hidden from the winds in the hollow and thanks to the fence / movable fences, due to the location in the bay, it has no waves and is always a green flag. The coral pleasantly pleased, in terms of preservation it is better than all Sharmovsky, at the level of Ras-Mohammed, very diverse - from a vertical wall to multi-level terraces with bays, tunnels and windows, living creatures correspond, a complete set. Boats leave the port before 9 am and return after 3 pm, they do not pass close to the coral.
Cons: there is no pontoon, it is especially inconvenient to go into low tide, closer to the edge of the lid the coral is alive and of complex shape, it is difficult to walk along it. At a normal water level, you swim freely above it.
From the beach deep into the bay, the water is warmer, but can be a little cloudy, towards the exit - transparent, but cooler.
We went to Marsa Mubarak twice, indeed, even with my wife and children no more than 30 minutes, I really liked it: a sandy beach with a convenient entry, and then as you like - either to the reef on the north side or to the center of the bay - to turtles and dugongs. There are a lot of turtles, they can come close to the beach. Size and temperament allow them to ride, most are in no hurry to go to the depths from increased attention. The dugong was once seen closer to the center of the bay at a depth of 6-8 meters (in general, only two such attempts were made, not all family members are quite active swimmers), they were delighted. The animal is unhurried and not shy, you can easily see it at the bottom and during the ascent for breathing. The disadvantage of the bay is only 1 - there is no protection from the sun.
The peculiarity of the resort is expensive excursions, the price for Luxor is twice as high as in Hurghada (and to go closer). The lack of competition and the "European" specialization of the resort have an effect. Highly recommend the trip to Sattaya - Dolphin House. Although it is a long journey, the almost guaranteed large flocks of dolphins and their friendly demeanor are absolutely worth it. Life jackets are not required here. There is a shorter excursion to another Dolphin House, but there without a guarantee and only in life jackets - diving and swimming with dolphins in the water column will not work.
I want to share my impressions about my 22nd vacation in Egypt, the 11th in Marsa Alam. Stayed with a group of 9 adults. Chose "Marina Lodge At Port Ghalib 4 *" for the fourth time.
Transfer: Flight Kyiv-Hurghada 4 hours, flew on the plane model MD-80, airline "Bukovyna Airlines". The company was pleasantly surprised, the departure was on time, takeoff and landing were very smooth. Transfer to the hotel about 4 hours.
Check-in: There were new people at the reception, and unfortunately they did not heed my words that we were regular guests. The room was given on the 1st floor, although I prefer the 2nd, moreover, it was not cleaned after the renovation work in the bathroom. They promised to move the next day, but we met an old friend, the Baha manager, and he immediately found us a wonderful room on the 2nd floor overlooking the moored yachts. In the morning you could hear the waves crashing. The room is cozy, in oriental style. I love when the interior has soul and style. I have already described the room in 3 previous reviews, I do not want to repeat myself. This time there was also a kettle with tea and coffee making facilities in the room, which was not the case on previous occasions. Cleaning was good, thank you!
The territory is small, but very green, the plants are well-groomed, the facades of the buildings are painted regularly. There are large and small pools overlooking the sea and yachts, there were enough sunbeds. Opposite the pool is the lobby bar area.
Nutrition. Food used to be the weak point of the hotel. However, now the hotel has a new chef. The food has gotten much better. The choice was not great, do not forget that the hotel is a modest 4 *, but the dishes have become really tasty. Soups have become more like soups than water with vegetables, the meat has become soft and tasty, the potatoes are cooked perfectly. Thank you! Very pleased! The work of waiters in a restaurant for 5 points. Very attentive, friendly and efficient. Thank you!
Bars: 1 near the pool and 1 on the beach. The all inclusive system operates from 11 am to 11 pm. Large selection of local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks: rum, vodka, tequila, brandy, good bottled beer, powdered juices, fanta, sprite, cola.
Service: this is the strength of the hotel. All staff are attentive and polite. Loved the new bartender on the beach called Keroles. He did his job very diligently, from the heart and with creativity.
Animation: all previous times we were very pleased with the animation with the chief animator Mimo. This time Mimo had a vacation. He returned to the hotel the day before we left. Therefore, we did not have time to enjoy his show to the fullest. Very sorry
Beach: located 400 meters, for a healthy active person, this is not a problem. There is a bar, shower and toilet. The beach is clean. Enough wind protection. Entrance to the sea on the coral cover.
Sea: The hotel is located right in Potu Ghalib, yachts and catamarans go in front of the beach. The port itself is a long bay with bridges. There is no storm at all in the bay, and this allows you to swim in any weather. It is along this bay that the reef of the hotel is located. The reef, as always, pleased: we saw a huge moray eel, several turtles, stingrays, a crocodile, several types of butterflies, shoals of sweet lips, swallows, cesium, aboudefduffs, which were intertwined with each other. I swam long and close with a large painted aluter, saw groupers, rhinoceroses, surgeons, unicorns, trevally, stellar and masked arotrons, paired boxfish, schools of flutes. There is nothing to say about small fish, such a concentration of all colors and species cannot be found in special aquariums. Amphiprions live on the cover of the coral, moreover, several families. The architecture of the coral is incomparable, especially at the exit from the bay to the open sea. The diversity of coral species and their combination in incredible color live pictures delights.
Leisure outside the hotel:
1. All previous visits to this hotel and other Port Ghalib hotels have walked to Marsa Mubarak Bay (2.5 km south) countless times. There have always been turtles, but we met dugong only last year, and then we specially bought an excursion. This time after breakfast we came to the bay and saw a group of tourists near the shore. There was a hunch that it was a turtle. We swam closer, it turned out that it was a dugong. He stolidly breakfasted on grass, completely oblivious to the crowd of tourists above him. Soon the rest of the tourists were taken to the boats, and we had the opportunity to swim for a long time next to the dugong and take pictures of this miracle of nature. For which many thanks to him!
2. Shopping. At a distance of 2 km from the hotel there is a supermarket "Adam Market". We took a taxi from the hotel. Prices in the supermarket are fixed. The difference between the prices in the hotel shops and in this supermarket can be dozens of times (for example, for soap, ointments, shampoos, pastes, hair masks, creams, sweets and other Egyptian-made things that are really worth bringing home). Again they collected ointments, pastes, dates and halva.
3. Again we went to the restaurant "Divino", which is located in Port Ghalib at the end of the embankment. Traditionally, they took a huge plate of the freshest and most delicious seafood (lobster, shrimp, squid, mussels, fish). Cooked very quickly and delicious. Thank you!
The general impression of the rest: the hotel may not appeal to people with high demands on the territory, food and rooms. And I feel comfortable and calm in Marina Lodge At Port Ghalib 4*. Pleased with improved food and excellent service. I will definitely be back, God bless!
Have a good rest, if you have any questions, write, I will answer!
