Good people, tell me, where is it better to go to Luxor or to the pyramids??? I’m going to Egypt for the first time, I always wanted to see the pyramids, but I read the reviews and somehow it doesn’t pull me anymore (((I don’t want to walk on camel poop)))) is it really cooler in Luxor?

Better both there and there, here is an overview of the trips:
The price of a trip to CAIRO 55 and to Luxor 55 USD. local agency Saif Tours prices.
In Cairo, the Pyramids, the Sphinx, the museum, where the mask of Tutankhamun's mummy, the sarcophagus of Tutankhamun and many other things that you will quickly see.
In Luxor, the tomb of Tutankhamun itself and others, the Temple of Karnak, the Temple of Hatshepsut, the colossi of memnon.
To Cairo 6 hours to Luxor 3 hours drive.
Think for yourself, decide for yourself.
Or better yet, two.
There is about Luxor http://blogs.turpravda.com/konyks/23026.html

most people like it better in Luxor, I also think so. a lot of impressions remain from Lukor, but from Cairo ... some are even disappointed. she herself was on an excursion in Cairo 4 times (work), I didn’t see any camel poop))) the disappointment of many is that the pyramids seem to be something SO ... HUGE ... in general, everyone’s fantasy draws their own pictures, and having arrived to this very pyramid, you look and ... nothing special. they don’t let you get close to the Sphinx (((in the Cairo National Museum you run for 1.5-2 hours for a guide, and the rest of the perfume and papyrus fibrils are to pump money out of tourists and take time. In general, it’s better to go to Luxor, there really will be a lot impressions, there is something to see in Luxor.
And it's better to go there and there, because the Egyptians have such an expression "Whoever was not in Cairo, he was not in Egypt."

if you are talking about cleanliness, then in Luxor it is much dirtier than in priramids. In general, Egypt is a very dirty country. But this is Egypt! This is history! and as for excursions, I personally can’t say where it’s better and more interesting. In Luxor you will not see what you can see in Cairo and Giza and vice versa. It's just that when you get to Cairo for the second time, it's no longer interesting, but I've been to Luxor several times already and I'll go again with pleasure. There is a very comprehensive program, and besides it there are still a lot of interesting places, and if you break away from the excursion and walk, you can see a lot more and go to the banana islands.
About poop. Pay attention to the camels ridden by local Arabs. They always have a bag tied behind their tails. Why do you think? Correct, so that the poop does not fall to the ground.
The main disadvantage of a trip to the pyramids is tiring. But if you take it for 2 days, it is quite bearable.

Last year we were in Sharm, so we went to Cairo. And I definitely wanted to see the pyramids. I was impressed! It's worth seeing, although my friends say it's nothing special. Cairo itself is a terribly dirty and poor city, I imagined it differently. The museum is interesting, and 3 hours in it is negligible. You can get lost there for the whole day!
This year we are going to Makadi Bay and Luxor.
As for Cairo, I would go there again, but then ... after all, there is still a lot of interesting things in the world.
But I'm looking forward to a trip to Luxor!
I think that it is worth visiting both Cairo and Luxor, especially since you are going to Hurghada, and from there you can go there and there.

Yes, about camel poop is an exaggeration.
Yes, there is a certain smell of the zoo in the place where the camels gather.
But you will have time to take a walk yourself and there are no more poop and smells.
If you wanted to see the pyramids, go! And don't let any reviews bother you! People are different, everyone perceives differently, imagined differently before the trip ...
Before the trip, I also read and heard enough that there was nothing to do in that Cairo, but I went and did not regret it! I like it!

In Cairo, exhausts from cars and smog, since traffic jams are always and everywhere, and you won’t find camel poop during the day with fire, only human garbage, well, yes, it’s everywhere. In Cairo there is everything from luxury to unshields, from beauty to squalor. But it's worth visiting.

Do not even hesitate about going or not going to Cairo. Once in a lifetime you need to see it with your own eyes. Even if you don’t like it, it will be your own opinion. We were there from Sharm last year, but we flew by plane (from Teztour it cost $ 250 per person). We were not particularly tired and we had much more time for everything than those who traveled by bus. And about the fact that the pyramids are not as big as it seemed, it’s funny to read .You yourself look, feel, estimate how the ancient people could "pile" them and the sphinx? It puzzled me and shocked me. Add your opinion! Have a good trip! an incentive to come to Egypt. GOOD LUCK!

Once you need to see the pyramids. Although the ruins without a full knowledge of their history are not impressive. The Cairo Museum impressed me more, but we were given very little time to view. We have not been to Luxor. I recommend - the more days of rest, the more opportunities to visit somewhere

I agree with doigor about the museum - that's another story altogether! Personally, I could get lost there for about 5 days (I could only spend a day in Tutankhamun's hall, I was generally lost from the excursion when I got into it), but the reality is that standard excursions do not involve a longer stay in the museum. Although , somewhere I can understand this: if excursions were given more time, then, probably, it would be necessary to be on duty for days, just to enter it (whoever was, he understands, because he saw this number of people, thirsty, to join history). There is only one conclusion - you need to go to Cairo DEFINITELY!

+1 Amir and lll111. I completely agree. In Luxor really pulls back more than once. And in order not to repeat yourself, you can take a cruise on the Nile: Luxor again, and a lot of new experiences.

Although I have not been to Cairo yet, I was very impressed with Luxor. It is rightly said that it pulls there again and again. There is a lot to see and a lot of time to see. True, the trip along the Nile is not enough (about 30-45 minutes), but still. But I still dream of getting to the pyramids someday, even though it is very difficult and tedious to go there, even though there is little time for them, but to see with my own eyes what was built hoo long ago is worth it.

You should definitely go to the pyramids, their view from the bus is impressive. The impression would have intensified, it seems to me, if there were some "five-story building" nearby. Cairo is also an interesting city (the guide will tell you everything). The Cairo Museum is generally something, although there is not enough time to inspect the exhibits. Yes, the pyramids have the cheapest souvenirs 1-2 dollars. In my opinion, it is not worth going to papyrus and perfume shops (they call them factories :)). And yet, our guide took us around the pyramids for 40 minutes (!). Therefore, it is necessary to “run into” it in advance and agree on at least an hour to see these sights. As for the way there and back, it is best to spend this time in a dream, and time will pass faster and spend less nerves. I have not been to Luxor, but there were my friends, they liked it. I will definitely go there next time. Have a good rest. Long live Egypt!

If you are not planning a trip to Hurghada anymore, and are limited in time and money, then it is better to go to Luxor. The trip is very interesting and eventful. And in the future, you can get to Cairo from Sharm or Taba. The main desire and good mood. We went to Hurghada only because of Luxor.

I was in Hurghada in February 09. Excursion to Luxor is acceptable, but Cairo is not enthusiastic. Guides leave much to be desired (especially for those who know at least a little the history of Egypt) - their level is extremely low, even in the Cairo Museum, cat. pounded his heel in the chest, calling himself a historian. In Luxor, the guide was more fortunate. I went from an official tour operator.
