It's not worth the risk. I was in Giza from Sharm on September 4th, in 2009. This is torture. They didn’t really see anything, there was only one task: to hide from this sun. There was no talk of tombs, there was simply nothing to breathe there. The journey was not only tiring, it was killing.
I remember how one Fifa travel agent brazenly snorted in my face so that they say you have to be a complete idiot to go on excursions in August-September. Well, we have such agents in Kyiv :-) I stopped communicating with her altogether and left the office. But now I understand that she was right. But if the information would not be conveyed in such a boorish form, perhaps I would have changed my mind with the tour.
