Only breakfast and dinner: what is it like?
Due to the small budget for the holidays, we would like to know: if you go on the "breakfast and dinner" food system, do you feel hunger? I ask because I always went with "all inclusive", but here I have to limit myself in funds.

For me, breakfast-dinner is the best option, at home I eat twice a day. But we take all inclusive because of the drinks that are paid on half board. Yes, and the difference in payment, given how much you have to pay for drinks, is in the end not so big.

For me, this system is inconvenient. Because I can't cram food in the morning and dinner starts at 7 pm. There are people (for example, my husband's parents) who go to breakfast twice - they drink coffee at 7 in the morning, then they swim, come back and still have time to eat until 10, limit themselves to fruit during the day, go to the beginning for dinner. And I only wake up at 10 at best :))
So see for yourself what mode you have.
If there are shops or a fruit shop near the hotel, it will be convenient during HB, and fruits and yoghurt juices in local shops are cheap.

I think that you will spend more on drinks and food than the amount that you need to pay extra for all inclusive.

In "ALL" in the summer, the most interesting thing for me is not food, but drinks (especially during the day). This is especially important if you are with children. On "HB" you will spend the entire difference in price for the same drinks.

By drinks do you mean even water? Or just alcohol?
аватар frl_frl
ALL drinks.
аватар ines_journ
Oooh, thanks a lot for the info, we didn't know that.

Only distilled water is provided free of charge.

When choosing the type of food, it is very important to decide what YOU will do on vacation. If YOU are a "hotel resident" (sitting in a hotel and not going anywhere), then definitely "all inclusive", if you spend a lot of time on excursions or walking - take half board.
An example - at the Khor Palace Hotel (Hurghada) the difference between half board and all is 10 USD per day. For two it is 110 Egyptian pounds. With fruit prices (strawberries £5, tangerines £4, oranges £2.5, bananas £4) it's just an UNEATABLE amount of 8-))). You still have the opportunity to buy the desired products for yourself (preferably in "METRO" or "ABU A SHARA"). But this is only in that case. if you want to do shopping trips (my wife loves it)...

half board is also suitable for hotels that are far from the beach, the bus respects in the morning, brings it to dinner, dine and it doesn’t work out that way.

As for me, HB does not fit at all. In principle, lunch should just be dense, this breakfast could have been interrupted by coffee. And when you are near the water, and even if you dive or get mad with the animators, or play sports games, what can you not eat there? But how can you not drink when you come to the beaches and go to the bar three times, then drink tea with a bun, then beer, etc. And everyone is chewing around, it will be hard, especially after "all inclusive"

And I'm FOR "All Inclusive" - it's VERY convenient! I think the difference in the cost of vouchers is quite insignificant, but you don't feel flawed :). .So push yourself and enjoy your meal.

Mercy for the comments, my husband and I are already thinking ... :)

but for me all inclusive is a waste of money, I have breakfast in the morning, and then I ate at 4-5 o’clock, and that’s it, I don’t eat anymore. and eating in local restaurants is cheaper and tastier than in a hotel. and if you already have a question, then drinks (and WATER is more important to you) will be given to you, well, drinking water is not expensive in the market. Plus, you can have a fruit snack for lunch.

Lunch in this situation is not so important, but water is important. It is not necessary to talk about alcohol, just estimate the cost of mineral and sweet water in bars, and beer, and cocktails, they do without alcohol. Yes, of course you can buy it in stores, but this is not a solution to the problem, you go to the beach, and your bottle is boiling water in exactly an hour. After the first HB trip, when we calculated, we came to the conclusion that there were no savings compared to AL, and this was without alcohol. At the expense of local restaurants, it's good if they are near your hotel, and if they are not close.

savings are questionable when choosing half board
it’s not even about food (perhaps for someone the norm is to eat twice a day)
another thing: drinks
i.e. with such heat that is in Egypt
constantly thirsty (I'm not talking about beer and spirits :))
and constant surcharges for drinks,
which are not included in the half board price
in the end, they will almost exceed that "savings"

Once we were on HB in Leila.
In the morning you can drink one cup of tea, and we were not allowed any more water during the day! We were constantly monitored so that no one even treated us.
аватар Pachok
nadin65, Are you serious? ONLY ONE CUP OF TEA? Two or no water?
And during the day, drinks are not included, except maybe one bottle of drinking water from the minibar. All for money. I would not count on someone to "treat" on the sly.
аватар nadin65
I quite seriously say that at the Alf Leila Wa Leila hotel on HB, they even grabbed us by the hand on the first day - the guard stands at the entrance to the restaurant (after all, we did not know that drinks were not allowed in HB)
аватар nadin65
And we also took 1 bottle of 0.5 water from the refrigerator in the room, so when we left we were presented with a check for 15 pounds.
аватар miki08
nadin65 is absolutely right, knowing the broad Russian soul, we are always ready to share, managers are especially attentive to how they serve us, so that we don’t take drinks for non-AL vacationers and bartenders are very severely punished for this.

Yes, that's why you have to take all inclusive, do not drag the water you bought from the market to the restaurant.
Here you can run into another problem - having paid for everything, as a result, you can ask and beg to bring these already paid drinks - the waiters are in no hurry. So we had in Gardenia Plaza - behind the bar the guy felt like the owner of life.
аватар LANGIS
in hot EGYPT you need to take only ALL INCLUSIVE WITH DRINKS without restrictions and especially with drinking water. You will buy water at the nearest supermarket OUTSIDE THE HOTEL and, without advertising, bring it to the hotel. Take a 0.5l travel kettle with you - it’s very convenient to drink a good tea-coffee in your room on the balcony (brought with you from your HOMELAND.). FRUIT from breakfast and dinner, carefully take it to the beach without fanaticism backpack bags, they will always come in handy). Many of our compatriots consider it indecent when they take food from a restaurant in hotels (sweets or fruits for children or for themselves) ... but this is a wrong opinion. First of all, it is undesirable to take food from restaurants on beach or room due to hygienic and sanitary considerations: this is an extra FOOD GARBAGE and, as a result, ants-cockroaches in the rooms, flies on the beach - by the pools from bits and leftover food.
When only breakfast and dinner are paid without drinks, then, of course, the commercial issue also matters ... extra cash payments.
Therefore, DELICATELY in a bag with you and in the refrigerator, fruits and dry rations for a snack instead of lunch. Because a PAID lunch for you will be unreasonably expensive
