In January, we sailed on a ferry along the Nile from Luxor to Aswan, we did not regret it at all. 12 days on the beach in the cold wind is hard. We paid for excursions at home when buying a ticket, but you can also take it from local representatives of travel agencies, the prices are exactly the same: $ 65 per person for tombs and 65 for temples. If possible, be sure to visit the temple of Abu Simbel. It is far from Hurghada, 700 km (we traveled from Aswan), but this tour is worth some inconvenience. The cost of the tour is $ 85 per person, paid on the spot, in Chelyabinsk such an excursion costs the same. And by the way: food on the ferry is better than we had in Hurghada 4 * hotel, only drinks on the ferry at your own expense.
I wish you a pleasant stay and new experiences!

Thanks for the answer, but here in Odessa, on the contrary, they say that it’s cheaper to buy excursions from local travel agencies, and not from your guide at the hotel, they wind up almost twice :(
We are thinking of visiting Luxor (I didn’t know about the ferry, I need to google it :) ) 700 km - it’s far for me, a spinal injury, I won’t sit so much ...

And here in Odessa they also say that Egypt is full of local excursion "shops" where everything is twice cheaper, and you can also find these agencies on the Internet before leaving for Egypt and book excursions for yourself. Type in the search "Excursions in Egypt" and lo and behold - a full Internet of offers!

You have to go-drive to the Desert Rouse hotel opposite this hotel, across the road there is an alley of shops, if you walk along, you will find a couple of travel agencies, in one of them, a cat. almost at the end of the alley, a Russian-speaking woman used to work, she explained everything very well - I went on excursions with them for four years - there were no problems and it turned out to be twice as cheaper. Try to find them, I think it will be easy.

..and yet, contrary to the advice - do not take excursions from your tour operators - it is very and unjustifiably expensive! From Hurghada I recommend to go to Luxor and not long and interesting, go to Motosafari, for a change it's cool. Of course, it’s a very cool excursion to the coral islands, but now it’s windy and even though the sea is warm, but everything depends on you, the wind will blow, you can just get burned before your eyes, take cream and a large towel - it will be cold to climb out of the sea because of the wind . Cairo with your spine - I wouldn't recommend it, but the tour itself is great. In a local travel agency I wrote about the cat above - I took a two-day excursion Cairo-Alexandria, I liked it very much, but it’s a long ride, although it’s less tiring than just 1 day to Cairo and back, depending on how many days you have a tour. Well, Abu Simbel is cool, but far away. The rest - I do not know, I can not advise. And the locals will offer free tours - don’t take it, there’s nothing to see, they will drag you shopping, it’s better to go yourself, in a taxi (negotiate the price in advance !!! in my time it cost about 10-15 dollars one way)

Desert Rouse- we are very far from this hotel, just looked at the map :(
we are on the left of Hurghada and THIS hotel is on the right...
but at the expense of "your" tour operators, I read reviews that if you don't buy from your excursions, then they are all evil, they don't even clean the room, they don't update the water :(
and tell me more about the currency: $ 1 - for their currency, how much is that? and how much is it customary to leave a tip in the room (for cleaning the room)

and what kind of connection in Egypt should be used? where to buy a local operator card? :)

Your hotel will be cool - we rested in 2010, we were very satisfied, for Egypt - a very green area and excellent cuisine (a lot of European food). We took a comprehensive tour "to Luxor, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, etc.) - not too far and tiring, but quite interesting, approx. 80 dollars per person, locals may be cheaper ...

I wrote about the cost of excursions, they didn’t give tips at the hotel for cleaning at all, they cleaned and towels were changed every day, water was also set at 1.5 liters every day. But on the ferry, every day the boy made various very funny figures from clean towels: a little man, a scorpion. an elephant, etc., he was given $ 1 twice each. In general, change local little things and always keep it with you, the Arabs are very affectionate and very poor. they ask for money for everything, so tipping in dollars is too big, usually 1-3 pounds. 1 dollar = 6 pounds.

I heard about your hotel from friends - good, but very far, outside the city. And don't go anywhere.
Be sure to go on an excursion to Luxor, from the safari I really liked the Sahara Park program. The water park there is cool "Jungle". Yes, there are many interesting things!
I traveled from the local company "All Egypt", they also provided me (as a gift) with an Egyptian SIM card. This is of course very convenient for calling the company and it’s cheaper to go home, about half a dollar a minute to Ukraine. They themselves come to your hotel, you don’t have to go anywhere to look for their office. So use: http://www.allegypt.net/
Have a good rest! Hello Hurghada! We are thinking of going there for the third time.

Were with a friend in Hurghada, in January of this year. I flew to Egypt for the 1st time, and my friend is already the 8th!) Very successfully we "bought" excursions right in Boryspil! For 30 UAH we were given a starter pack with an Egyptian number, which the guide contacted us on the spot. At our own peril and risk, we decided to try to go, because we were intimidated that you only need to buy excursions at the hotel, and that insurance will not be distributed, etc. If someone else is not in the know, then the tour operator insures you, and insurance is valid throughout the country for the entire period of stay, and it does not matter whether you went on an excursion with a local guide or with a private trader. It's all nonsense. In general, we found for ourselves an excellent option for excursions and a guide, who himself is from Ukraine, and not the local population, and considers tourists not as a bag of money from which you can cash in! We fought with this company on a sightseeing tour of Hurghada, we went to Luxor and to Paradise Island. Everything went perfectly! No complaints, no complaints! We are very grateful to Maxim for everything! In comparison, a woman went from our hotel to Luxor for 80 dollars, here she stood at 60! Everywhere minus 5-30 dollars. Maxim's guide phone number: +201120692376.
