Safety and concerns about leaving the hotel
Hello!
I am very interested in the issue of safety during excursions. I'm going to Egypt for the first time and I've heard not very personal reviews that it's better not to go outside the hotel.
And I really want to ride scooters, horses and go fishing, and this is possible only by leaving the territory.
Share your opinion and experience, is it worth it to go and yes, where is it better to book these excursions and activities. Confirm or refute my doubts please!
Thanks a lot!

It's impossible to say for sure if you're lucky or not. Almost no one adheres to the rules of the road in our understanding. As a rule, excursions end happily. They have now tightened the rules under which the bus is released on the route. BUT the mysterious oriental soul still leaves these rules.
Since we fly in large numbers, we try to negotiate with minibus drivers. Once, such a Schumacher drove us from Naama Bay, with such undercuts, with music, songs and dances, that everyone later wondered for a long time how we survived.
They were also fishing. I don't think the fishing is worth it. I felt sorry for the fish that got on the hook. But it's hard for me to judge, I'm not a fisherman.
If the merchants will strain you with their perseverance, it may really be better to stay in the hotel.
In principle, there is no big danger outside the hotel.
Have a good rest!

A resort area created and functioning exclusively for the benefit of tourism. In order for tourists to have a good rest, they also came and advised others. Millions of our fellow citizens fly there every year. With children, grandmothers, alone and in groups.
These are facts.
Therefore, it is very interesting, what were you advised to be wary of outside the hotel?

If you go on excursions with a major operator (I would recommend the same one you came with), and not with local "craftsmen", then you should not be afraid for your life.

I do not agree that it is undesirable to leave the territory of the hotel. We went on excursions with a guide, everything is absolutely normal, there were no such bad situations. We rode scooters, went on minibuses in public transport with Arabs, went on many excursions without guides - with local companies, everything is ok! Of course, be careful everywhere (after all, a foreign country), but not to go beyond the hotel - nonsense.

I don’t know of cases where there were misunderstandings with the local population. You will see them and understand everything. They are interested in you returning here. Maybe, depending on where, you will be amazed by the guards or the number of armed soldiers. To understand this, you need to return to their history

The main assistant in your safety is your sanity. Some kind of outrageous crime in the resort areas is not noticeable, tourists are carefully guarded there. Maximum - traders in the markets will sell something at exorbitant prices)))
Excursions, especially long-distance and very special diving, we take only from a guide - it's more expensive, but you ride comfortably in a good bus with a working air conditioner, the guide has no problems with knowledge of the language, the scuba gear will be guaranteed to be in good working order and you will not be forgotten at sea. We came to this through a sad experience: there was also a five-hour excursion in Turkey to Pamukkale in a broken PAZika-type bus (but it’s cheap, damn it), and we were almost left at sea in Sharm.
In the hotel towns - Sharma, Nayama, Hurghada and so on. You can walk around safely at any time of the day.

Thanks a lot, everyone!
This means that the registration is only through the operator and with a healthy head you can safely attend the planned events!

Regarding "fishing" - you can see my report on Taba. There is about "BIGFISHING" ... and if they offer fishing on a regular sea excursion (like Hamaat) - they will ask at the last stop for a swim or for "fishing" - then this is a national Egyptian bred fish :) They will issue a fishing line "finger-thick" to he will need to tie it up ... and you will catch a coral haruppa ... (a fish like our rotan is only beautiful :) )

There is nothing wrong in Egypt outside the hotel! It all depends on your behavior, upbringing. We went on excursions both from a tour operator and from a local company. Everything was in order. Attentive attitude was present here and there. The main thing is to treat the local population normally, with a smile, and you will be treated the same way. But fishing, as far as I know (we were in Sharm at the beginning of March), is prohibited in Egypt.

Agree with all the positive reviews. I was in Egypt 3 times, in different composition (together with my daughter; me + daughter + mother; I + daughter + mother + husband + second mother) I traveled almost everything I could, there was never a misunderstanding. of their tour operator. Plus, we went to the city for shopping (on our own), went to the Senzo supermarket in the evenings when it gets dark almost every other day. all servants from nearby hotels) they always look with interest, smile, wave their hand, say hello. In general, the Arabs are very kind and smiling people. And do not forget that we tourists are their bread, so the attitude is reverent. Have a good rest.

Hurghada is a tourist area and walking around the city and along the hotels is not in danger. Tourists are protected by special police. But when you leave the recreation area and go on any excursion, then after carefully reading your insurance policy issued to you when buying a tour, you will make sure that the operator is not responsible for you. Any trip is at your own risk. Unless you buy a separate travel insurance policy for Egypt. Where and from whom to buy tours have been discussed more than once, and there is simply no desire to continue the discussion, everyone has their own opinion. My advice when you arrive, do not rush to buy right away, but from the beginning, talk with those who have already gone on these excursions, our people are still human beings and willingly share their impressions. That's when you decide where and what tour you buy.
аватар Zhuzhman
Regarding the insurance policy: it is valid for excursions if you buy it from the same operator from which you bought the tour. We went with Tez Tour. Prices can be 5-7 dollars higher than local small companies, but there has never been a single complaint about the quality of service and safety. And about the excursions, we consulted with the guide at the hotel and he told us everything in detail. We wish you a pleasant stay!
аватар miki08
Well, the hotel guide can tell you anything, but when you left him, did they give you at least some kind of document in your hands? The facts are a stubborn thing, a bus from Sharm to Cairo crashed a year ago, there were dead and injured, including a mother and daughter from St. Petersburg who bought this trip from their guide, so they were told we don’t know anything, nor who didn’t send you there, and the difference is far from 5-7 dollars, and sometimes almost twice.

Dear miki08, I don't know about you, but we were given vouchers, copies of which we had on hand during the tour. and the guide really explained everything in detail and adequately. You may just be out of luck with the tour operator. and for the prices - we checked ourselves. and were in Hurghada this November. I am now talking about guides and excursions through teztour. I don't advertise, no. But we didn't have any questions or complaints.
аватар miki08
I am very glad that you were lucky, although I went with a teztour, probably they began to change something over the past year. But here are the answers of the general manager of the thesis regarding the death of a young man in the Aladdin hotel, I was very simply guarded, not only did he not give an explanation about the responsibility for the death in the hotel due to email. there was no tension on the water supply pipes, but according to his words, there was no debriefing with the owner of the hotel, and no measures and requirements were taken.

interesno who can advise not to go beyond the hotel, especially in Hurghada, where the Russian population is 20-30%!! our fellow citizens not only rest there, but also live and work. even if you leave the city you will not be eaten!
about excursions - a twofold situation. the same tour operator, in which case, will make round eyes and say - we have nothing to do with it!
аватар Zlata28
don't worry, you can safely go out
outside the hotel, as well as go on excursions
аватар Hib1922
I have not yet received more comprehensive information on tourism!
Thanks to all!
