Now, in order: I was on a school vacation tour with my son, so I got into the high season for prices - a four in Dahab at the price of a good five in Sharm, more than 500 USD. per person. I think in a calm mode, if you choose this hotel, then according to the criterion of economy, this is 300 USD. +.
In general, all hotels in this region must be considered in relation to the features of the city itself and the bright places in its environs. There are three outstanding places here, these are: the Blue Hole (a place of pilgrimage for freedivers), the Lagoon (the territory of surfers and caterers) and Dahab itself, as a colorful Arab village. After a month of studying geography and tourist reviews, I settled on Tropitel mainly because of its location halfway between the city and the Blue Hole. It's about 3 km to the hole and 5 km to the city, as I love snorkeling and diving. And now structurally in order.
1. LOCATION: a small classic four, which is located in a two-story horseshoe between the road and the sea. In the center of the hotel there is a fairly good and deep pool, well-groomed greenery and beautiful panoramic views of both the mountains behind the hotel and the sea itself. rubbish and just rubbish along the coast line. There is no gloss and Sharma promenade, plastic waste, roaming camels, poverty of local residents. In general, this is the plus of the hotel for lovers of a relaxing holiday, and the lack of infrastructure nearby leaves the coral reef untouched, stretching indefinitely away from the hotel. The hotel itself is in measure old, the rooms are quite comfortable and cozy. The wind is quite strong, warm, lateral to the hotel, I didn’t feel any discomfort from it, on the contrary, it was perceived as a pleasant breeze that blows off the flies.
2. SERVICE: there are no comments at all on the service, the guys value their workplace, and regardless of the thanks of the tourists, they work out excellently in their place. We had an early check-in, about 6 in the morning, the hotelier immediately offered a choice of instant check-in with a surcharge of about 36 euros for breakfast and early check-in, we refused and went to swim and relax without bracelets, at 12 we were settled with an increased category with a sea view without surcharges, according to the availability of good places. Therefore, I see no reason for reproaches or claims of corruption - the choice is yours, everything is according to the protocol. The bartender does not swear and pours what is ordered with dignity and respect, the beachboys give out towels and keep order on the water, the waiters fly like flies and clean the plates and bring drinks.
3. HOLIDAYERS: according to the contingent in my race, these are about 60-70% Egyptians, couples, or men's companies (I think the military is on vacation) or schoolchildren from big cities for the weekend. 20% Germans, Poles, Baltics, and about 20% "brothers" - Slovenes, Ukrainians and Russians. I want to pay respect to the Arabs as intelligent, non-drinking and calm people, women on the beach only in completely closed bathing suits, at dinners and during the day in scarves and traditional clothes. As mentioned in other reviews, there are not so many professional divers here, I think about 10.15% of the entire audience and determined by the wetsuits drying on the balconies. . These people are phantoms that can be seen at early breakfast and dinner. Bracelets are divided into green, white, gold, depending on the service package and country of origin. "Golden" saw only the Germans. But in relation to tourists, I did not notice any discrimination.
4. FOOD without frills, classical, high-quality, Egyptian. Here you will not see long Turkish shelves with dishes, everything is essentially as balanced as possible: meat, fish, vegetables, sweets, drinks. By the end of the tour, of course, everything is already boring, but there were no poisonings, as well as half-eaten plates. The hotel is mainly designed for breakfast and dinner.
5. BEACH: in my opinion generally problematic. There is no entry into the water at all, only from the pantone. A wide line of large stones makes it impossible to enter from the shore, and the remnants of algae on the tide line attract midges and mosquitoes. Saves only the wind from living creatures. The beach itself is sandy, about 100 meters long. Lonely, independent camels sometimes pass along the line of the beach.
6. OVERALL IMPRESSION: There is no particular desire to return to this hotel. Everything is decent, simple, calm. I chose it as an alternative to kitsch, show-offs and the drunken party of most Sharm hotels. In principle, this has been achieved. Excellent reef snorkeling for amateurs, the exotic of the simple life of the indigenous people, beautiful and high-quality places for activities. After a full study of the region, I want to say that I would choose a better hotel (these are about 3 good hotels one to one) in Laguna - there is a gorgeous sandy beach, proximity to the city, proximity to reefs and activities on the water under the wind. If you are a professional diver, it is better in general, tune in to independent apartments and spend the budget not on service, but on paying for the rental of equipment and instructors.
Very good hotel for privacy. Check-in immediately upon arrival, no need to wait 14:00.
Every day, 4 times a day, there is a bus to Dahab and back, the schedule at the reception is given immediately, 10 minutes and in Dahab, where you can buy fruit and just plunge into a slightly different atmosphere)) Opposite the hotel there is a beautiful canyon, we walked to the Blue Hole, 30-40 minutes walking along the seashore.
We are very happy with our stay in this hotel, highly recommended!
1. Likes noisy rest. The hotel does not have animation, discos, evening shows and other entertainment. They are irrelevant here. This is a place for relaxation, contemplation and solitude.
2. He loves pretentious chic resorts. The hotel is small, neat, moderately green, as for Dahab, but never luxurious. Everything works, everything is thought out, everything is convenient. But never great. This is not necessary here.
3. Loves velvet beaches. Alas, the entrance to the sea is exclusively from the pontoon. You won’t be able to enter from the beach even in slippers - there is a solid coral wall, and, by the way, walking on corals is forbidden. The pontoon is short, and immediately from it magnificent reefs in both directions. The beach itself is suitable only for seal rest after another swim in the sea. There is no bar on the beach (it is not needed here), there is no sand as such - small gravel on a clay base. But on the beach there are several green lawns with soft grass, which is very cool to do yoga or just lie in the shade of palm trees.
4. Loves culinary delights. In Tropitel, they feed hearty and from the belly - there are no restrictions on meat, chicken, fish. But don't expect special delicacies and pickles. Everything is pretty normal. Although, surprisingly, cream soups are very tasty. Everything else is standard. No shrimp, crab or octopus. It is not needed.
5. Likes alcohol tourism. The pool bar serves locally produced alcohol. And the restaurant for lunch and dinner. But for the most part, the public either does not drink at all, or is limited to a couple of glasses of beer or a glass of wine a day. You won't find companions here : )
5. Does not like tourists from Eastern countries. There are many of them. According to my observations, about a third of the inhabitants of the hotel are Egyptians, the same number are Germans (most of all from Bavaria), the rest are Turkey, Israel, the Czech Republic, Poland, Italy, the Baltic States, a little Scandinavia and quite a bit of the CIS. In addition to families who came on a week or two-week tour, there are quite a few singles (most often divers) who book a hotel and come for three to five days. Most of the guests are either healthy lifestyle or snorkel divers or the first plus the second. There are a lot of hipster-looking young people, incl. among the Egyptians. Germans predominate among pensioners. But rather athletic pensioners, often with a bias in diving.
6. Likes evening promenades and shopping in the city. Tropitel is located far from the city center - about 5 km. There is a shuttle that takes you to the center and takes you back several times a day. There is a shop in the hotel itself. In the vicinity there are a couple of hotels and several hostels for divers. There is nothing more. Only lifeless mountains and the eternally restless turquoise sea.
7. Likes gentle weather. In Dahab, there is no wind only at depth, where divers crawl along the bottom. There is always wind on the surface. Hot wind from Saudi Arabia (on the other side of Aqaba). Accordingly, the sea is never calm. There is always a wave, not very strong, but always. Get ready for the fact that the red flag on the pontoon is never removed. That does not prevent excellent diving and snorkeling.
8. Doesn't like marine life. There are many fish of different sizes in the Dahab Sea. Some are not very pleasant. Nothing dangerous, but you need to be careful. For example, right in front of the Tropitel pontoon, a barracuda pike is registered. She is small, but still a predator. There are no sharks in the vicinity. There are a few moray eels, but they are not so easy to find. Of course, you should not climb your hands into the moray eel mink. There are also lionfish, but look for them. In general, the reef near the hotel is quite lively, there are a lot of fish, and another pleasure is to watch divers - there are also a lot of them in the vicinity of the hotel.
9. Likes fun on the water. There are no jet skis, yachts, paragliding, towed bananas, kayaks and other delights in Tropitel. There is a dive station "Lagona" and that's it. There are no windsurfers or kites either - wind-dependent in Dahab cluster in the Laguna (Tirana, Swiss Inn hotels, etc. )
10. Loves huge pools with slides and hot tubs. In "Tropitel" there is a modest-sized swimming pool and it is one. In the form of a guitar, the greatest length is about 25 meters. One half is deep - 195 cm, the other is shallow - 65 cm. There are sun loungers around the pool and a small bar right there. Everything, that's, in fact, the whole hotel.
-------
In general, a holiday in Dahab is a great idea in itself, and Tropitel is an excellent choice for a relaxing leisurely holiday with an emphasis on snorkeling and diving.
In addition to the "home" reef of the hotel, which is very good for scuba diving, the Canyon is located right in the water - two hundred or three hundred meters in a straight line. The Canyon Lagoon is a very pleasant place for snorkelling. Between the Canyon and the pontoon of the hotel - beautiful coral gardens - it will not be boring to swim.
Also, not far from Tropitel, there are two more "catalog" reefs of Dahab - Abu Telha and Abu Hilal. In principle, if you are not lazy, you can get to them by water, but it’s far away, it’s better to walk along the coast (700-800 meters), they are located near the Amigo and Daniela hotels. Very interesting lagoons for snorkelers, and for divers, they are generally expanse, not as crowded as in the Canyon and the Blue Hole. By the way, it is about 3 km to the Hole from Tropitel, you can walk on foot.
The "Tropitel" has very friendly and unobtrusive staff, everything is quite clean and tidy, and, in general, the atmosphere is very pleasant.
The rooms are a little tired, but not critical - everything works.
The gym, which is not in the photos, instead of it there is a verandah right on the beach. Barbell, bench for bench press, several dumbbells, incl. typesetting. What else is needed? . There is an exercise bike (broken) and two treadmills - one of them is quite working.
But, as for me, it’s more pleasant to run along the road - in the morning, say, to the city and back (a flock of dogs runs around Miami Beach, but they only bark and are not dangerous), and in the evening - towards the Blue Hole.
The audience in Tropitel, as I said, is specific. People are in the mood for relaxation and lots and lots of diving and snorkeling. Many in the morning run, do yoga, even rollerblading. The lobby bar (open from 21:00 to midnight), which in all hotels is usually packed to capacity in the evenings, is the most sparsely populated place in Tropitel.
A great place to jump out of a too hectic life, relax, maybe think about something important. Nice place.
We had a CRT TV, but the HD tank connected fine. The beds are a monolithic (with a floor) frame, you can't move it. The linen is excellent, cleaning - on request.
Lots of greenery. There were no mosquitoes, no fumigator was used.
The food is excellent, everything was enough, cooked with high quality.
The staff is unobtrusive and positive, all requests were satisfied with high quality and on time, including an extraordinary (very late) dinner in the room on the day of arrival and food on excursions.
The contingent is mostly Arabs, then Russians, then Europeans.
Pros -
Free regular shuttle bus to Dahab according to the schedule (there - 10.00; 12.00; 18.00; 20.00; 22.00, from there - 10.15; 12.15; 18.15; 20.15; 22.15)
Relative proximity to Israel
short pier
Great house reef
Nice staff
Lack of tagil)))
By cons with a big stretch I can attribute
1. The size of the pool is too small.
2. Washing near the pool. A trifle, but would have liked an actual wash.
They wipe it with a damp cloth (this is the case with an inflatable deck chair; otherwise, it doesn’t matter)
3. A small selection of fruits. Well, not by bread alone))).
If the price is low, it's worth the trip.
If boiled potatoes were given for breakfast, then for dinner - mashed potatoes from the same potatoes... There are practically no vegetables - fruits (rotten tomatoes and cucumbers do not count). Paid drinks (everything, including water)... Rude and roguish staff (((. . . And in the end - sparrows flying around the "restaurant" like at home (((. . . The barn in general...
In Russia, homeless people are better fed (((. . .
2). There is no beach (((. . . That is, it seems to be there, but it is impossible to swim, since there is no entrance to the water (((. . . (there are corals around, it is impossible to enter the water without falling and cutting yourself (((. . . ). . . The people used the pier with a ladder, it is immediately deep there, but in front of the entrance to the pier there is a sign in all languages, announcing that it is forbidden to swim and dive, there are no lifeguards and the hotel administration is not responsible for anything. . .
3). Constant additional fees, the lack of Russian-speaking staff and the extreme slowness of the staff in general (((. . .
In general, the service is at the level of a Black Sea grandmother in some kind of Crimea (((. . . For a very undemanding consumer (((. . . The bed was removed, but it didn’t even occur to anyone to change the linen in two weeks... The linen has traces on itself some wear and tear. . .
Well, I recommend contacting Feda with all questions and requests in the store opposite the reception, although his correct name is Efedin - a wonderful young man, he learned Russian on his own and will definitely help in almost all matters, from shopping to organizing excursions.HereheisinContacthttp://vk.com/id98332565 He organized a wonderful fishing trip for us! In general, I rate the hotel at a very weak C grade.
