Rested with a friend from October 9 to October 23.2010. I must say right away that I really liked the hotel, but now everything is in order.
The flight there was 12.5 hours, back 10 hours - I endured the flight in both directions calmly, unexpectedly easily, although on the way back for about an hour over the Atlantic the plane was strongly thrown. We flew economy, but I still advise large people to take business class, because the distance between the seats in the economy is very small. We fed 2 times and everything that we took with us on the plane (sandwiches, chocolates) was not eaten, they feed quite decently, we had enough in full, although men may not have enough, see for yourself how much you usually eat, if a lot, then you need to take food on the plane.
Check-in at the airport was quick and we went to the hotel, the road took 20 minutes somewhere, we settled in quickly, talked to the reception with a Dominican, but a couple of phrases in Spanish and a good level of English did their job and we were given a choice of several rooms, we chose renovated room with a jacuzzi next to the ocean (046), though the first floor, but still close to the ocean))) , excellent in this respect.

And so we received the cherished hotel map and the keys went to the room, decided not to go by train, but to walk, did not regret at all, did not get lost anywhere, thanks to the previous reviews and photos, we got to the ocean for about 7 minutes and here it is the long-awaited room . We liked the room very much, it didn’t smell of dampness, oddly enough, everything worked and it completely suited us, we stayed.
The suitcases were brought very quickly, they gave a dollar for delivery and began to unpack them, then quickly changed clothes and went to the beach, the time was somewhere around 5 pm local time and 1 am Moscow time, but we decided to endure and not sleep, so that later at 2 do not wake up at night. Going out to the beach (indescribable beauty, incomparable to anything) and as soon as we saw it all and swam, fatigue and sleep vanished))) On this day, we stayed until 11 o'clock and after the show went to bed and very well, that we were so tormented, the next day we woke up at 6 in the morning, and not at 3, like many who came with us and then could not get used to this time. So advice: by hook or by crook (drink coffee, take a walk), but just don’t go to bed at least until 10 pm, and then from the next day you will immediately climatize.
We flew through the Southern Cross, we did not really like the guide, she was indifferent to everything.
We had the only problem in the room with a light bulb over the jacuzzi dripping, when on the 2nd floor someone went to the shower, we identified this problem, but she did not react in any way, although she said that she would say and only after, when we already told the cleaning lady it became all OK. And also, somewhere in the middle of the rest, 1 towel was stolen from us on the beach, although I specifically asked her about it on the second day, but she replied that you can leave it calmly, nothing will be on you, although there were slippers next to the towel, so be careful, it still happens there, put something on top of the towel so that someone does not take it by mistake. And then a fine of 15 bucks.
The food was really excellent, and smoothies in the morning, I even forgot what coffee is (although in Moscow I can’t wake up without it in the morning), though you always drill meat that is cooked in front of you or on the grill, and not in common dishes , because everything is very tough there.

Indeed, there is the El Gaucho restaurant on the beach, although there is less choice of dishes, but the meat there is excellent and there is more choice than in the main restaurant, and the fact that you dine, and outside the window there is a turquoise ocean, it feels like you are looking at photo wallpapers, an indescribable feeling, so we almost always dined there. We also went to the a la carte restaurant "Pescador" and "Tanuki", Tanuki has an excellent show, it's worth watching and Pescador also liked it, everything is very tasty, but not much, men should not go to such restaurants on an empty stomach. Food is 24/7, you can always find something to eat. Well, a lot has been said about the food.
The beach is incomparable, the sand was pink, it’s very pleasant to walk on it, the ocean is always with waves, but they are gentle, they don’t knock you down, although on the 2nd week of rest you had to get up early to take a place under the fungus, because.
the season has already begun and the occupancy of the hotel has become 100%, but if you like to lie in the sun, then come at least at 12, there is always a sunbed. I was also very lucky with the weather, none of the 15 days was overshadowed by rain, they went somewhere in the morning, but every day, somewhere around 6 in the morning and that's it, then the whole day the sun.
The territory is all green, very large, many different animals, its own reserve, talking parrots, it was nice to just walk around it. On the territory (at night) there are cockroaches (these are tropical flying cockroaches), large ones, sometimes you can see them at night in the room (though on the 1st floor), we also ran a couple of times, the first time is disgusting, but then you get used to it, it's the tropics, Well, what can you do, since nature is like that there, you can see them running along the path.
Excursions took 3: Santo Domingo, swam with dolphins, Catalinita + Saona.
Santo Domingo: we took a standard (large bus, 40 people, it’s better to take a VIP, there are fewer people, they return to the hotel faster, we returned at 9 pm, and those who were on the VIP arrived at 7), went down to the cave, looked at 3 lakes ( they also take to the VIP for 4, they say the most beautiful), of course, shops (by the way, the cheapest of all excursions, so buy here), the excursion is interesting, informative, but we decided that after Columbus nothing else was built there))) )) Look at the beautiful Catholic Cathedral, the famous lighthouse, how people live (the poor are all around), the road is tiring, especially back.

Dolphins: we took the most expensive program (exelence) for 169 bucks per person, but it's worth it, go to the Dolphin Explorer park, take pictures with different parrots, see the performance of fur seals, a welcome kiss from them))) Then go to the dolphins, in a group of you from 5 to 6 people (and the usual group for 120 bucks consists of 15 people and less time for communication), they introduce you to 3 dolphins, first you do different acrobatic tricks with 2 (and an asterisk, and they pull you out of the water and ride on spinal and on the pectoral fins and jump over you), then you go to another pool and there you get to know 1 more dolphin, you dance with him, sing, you are the coach - give the command and he jumps next to you, kiss the dolphin, feed him , and of course a lot of strokes and during the whole program, in fact, it will be very exciting for both adults and children.
During all this, a video is being shot (it costs 60 bucks a piece, but the memory is for life), pictures are each $ 15, the more the cheaper. You can shoot and take pictures yourself, but then someone has to buy a ticket and not swim, because everyone goes into the water together and stays there. We got great pleasure from this trip, yes, by the way, this park is located in the open ocean, and not some kind of pool, which adds to its attractiveness.
Catalinita + Saona: I liked it only partially. First, they are taken to the town of artists (Altros de Chavon), which is very beautiful, although it was built not so long ago, but in the colonial system, see the church where Michael Jackson married his first wife.
Next, on high-speed boats, you will sail along the Chavon River (cool) to the Caribbean Sea, where you will make several stops: magroes, see the birds of the “frigates” (beautiful); then a stop in the natural lagoon inhabited by starfish, then a stop at the shallows, where the 3rd part of "Pirates of the Caribbean" was filmed; further, Catalinita Island itself is unremarkable, just a reef, but it shares the Atlantic Ocean with the Caribbean Sea (amazing, because on the one hand the Atlantic with its waves, and on the other the calm Caribbean Sea, the mind cannot understand how there are waves in one body of water, and after a few meters they are gone), there will be lunch on this island (be aware that this is about 2 days, and there is no canopy on this uninhabited island, so stock up on towels, it will be very hot, you will eat on pillows in spartan conditions, delicious lunch - several types of meat, lobster, etc.
); then the island of Saona - it is not so exotic, already equipped, tents with souvenirs, sunbeds, a volleyball net, so this island has long been settled in, it seemed to us not very attractive, we had better vegetation on the beach. But in general, an interesting excursion, it is worth devoting time to it.

Animation at the hotel: simply excellent (the show will give odds to any Turkey, although the beach is a bit sluggish), consists of 3 parts - people who entertain on the beach, professional dancers (they make amazing performances in the evening, super costumes, musicals), and professional live music and singers. Yes, they all consist of locals, do not speak Russian, a little slow, unhurried, but this is the mentality, but the general assessment is that they are amazing and everyone dances and teaches others, and in the evening you can show what you have learned))) Many thanks to them , did not let us get bored for not a second.
There are also professional photographers, the pictures are amazing (a friend ordered a photo session), but it’s expensive for 10 bucks a piece, the more, of course, cheaper, but it’s worth it, very professional.
I recommend this hotel to young people, they did not even expect that it would be so crowded there, you will find any company to your liking.
Departure (((At the airport you will have to lose a lot of time, everything is very long, you get very tired. Everything is much more expensive in duty free (For example, Santo Domingo coffee costs 2 bucks per package, and duty free 7, etc. everything is much more expensive) , but there is a problem, who flies Transaeto, then 20 kg per person is allowed, and if at least 1 kg more, pay for overweight at 14 bucks per kg. So choose which is cheaper, buy duty free or pay for overweight.

P. S. The Dominican Republic is a country of paradise, white sand, long beaches, a warm ocean and a relaxing environment where you forget about everything. With pleasure I will return again to the Dominican Republic and not applicable to this hotel.
If you have any questions, I will answer with pleasure, Have a good rest everyone and do not forget a good mood with you))))))))))
