We rested in De Luxe Barcelo Bavaro Palace 5 *. Rest period 19.07. 2009-31.07. 2009.
In general, the rest was very pleasant. No cons found. Everything is at a very good level. I want to say right away that once in a lifetime it is worth visiting this wonderful country, looking at the culture of the Dominican Republic, at the life of Dominicans and Haitians. The building of the church - what is it worth! This "space" building is impressive!
As for the rest in the hotel:
The ocean is clean and warm. The beach is also great, white sand. On one side of the hotel is a wild beach. Very good location of the Hotel in my opinion, because. in the morning (I got up at 4 am on the first days) you can walk along the wild beach with pleasure. On the other side of the hotel there is a small market where we bought souvenirs. Guys - BARGAIN, don't be shy. I bought tortoise shell bracelets there, the initial price of 1 bracelet was $15, in the end I bought 5 bracelets for $30.

We ate mostly at the buffet restaurant. Everything is there. The cuisine is good and tasty. None of us got poisoned)))
It gets dark early in the Dominican Republic (Dominican time - at about 18-20 hours).
They rested, as they say, in the off-season. I did not notice any "off-season"; we had rain for 10 days of rest - 1 time, which really went all day, but mostly it rained at night (it didn’t bother anyone at all, because everyone is sleeping), and in the morning everything dries up. The climate is very good and humid. Transferred great!
The air temperature averages up to 30-32 degrees. I think this is a very good climate, especially since the humidity does not allow you to "dry"))
We went to the show "Trapikalisimo" at the Hotel - it's cool, you can go once, but no more. Disco there like Latin American, we didn't even go.
There were few Russians in our deluxe. The area is good, we went to the nearby hotel "Casino", which. As I understand it, uninhabited, because. there was not a single tourist there. But there are real live flamingos in it!
I want to note that a vacation in the Dominican Republic without excursions is boring, boring. Be sure to take excursions. Excursions are great!
Excursions:
We took excursions to 1) Samana Peninsula, 2) Safari Jeep Tour, 3) Catalina Island.
All excursions are extreme (except Catalina). Excursions are designed for the whole day, which I really liked (lunch included). The coolest excursions (of the ones we took) are Samana and Safari Jeep Tour.

1) p. Samana. First we flew to the peninsula on a small plane for 40 minutes, which is designed for 8 people (there are different planes, there are also for 2 people - depending on how many people your group consists of). Flying is not at all scary, although it is very high above the clouds! Then we arrive on the peninsula and sail on a speedboat. We were brought to see the bird islands. It is something! A very beautiful sight. Then we go to the cave, see some drawings of Shamans, etc. Also nice to see. Then we were taken by bus to the ranch. At the ranch we have lunch, buy natural cocoa and coffee, and after lunch we ride HORSES down to the Lemon Falls. Believe me - it's worth a try (especially for those who have never ridden horses)! I got on the horse for the first time. It's not scary at all, because the horses there are quiet and we went down to the waterfall with the guides. It was interesting to me. We arrive at the waterfall - swim, relax and ride horses back to the ranch. The waterfall is small but clean. It's worth a look.
2) Jeep tour Safari. My young man himself is driving and a couple of jeeps with tourists are going deep into the Dominican Republic. We drive through cane plantations. There is an opportunity to see the Haitians. This is a different story. Because Since the core of Haiti consists of Haiti and the Dominican Republic itself, then Haitians come to the Dominican Republic to work, because. Haiti is a very poor country. And on those same cane plantations they live and work. Their poverty is very noticeable. Because passing by their "houses" - if you can call them that, because these are our "sheds in a terrible state" Haitian children ran after our jeeps and begged. Terrible sight.
Next, we arrived at a ranch where cocoa and coffee are grown. There, at the ranch, they showed us how cocoa is prepared, they give us a taste. You can walk around the ranch, see how lime, cocoa, coffee, breadfruit, grapefruit, bananas grow. Very interesting. Next, we arrived at a tobacco factory, where you can see how cigars are made and buy if you wish.
Then we come to another ranch where horses are bred and also cocoa and so on. At the ranch we have lunch and ride horses if we wish. See how avocado and mango grow. And we're back in jeeps! All in all, this tour is awesome. Just the idea that you yourself are driving in the Dominican Republic (millions of kilometers from Russia) is impressive.
3) o. Catalina. The tour itself is nothing! Except for the city of artists "Altos De Chavon". There is a lot to see in this town. First, we were brought to Catalina Island, where we splashed in the Caribbean Sea (terrible waves), dined and that's it! But while we were sailing to the island, we saw the famous cottages of Michael Jackson, Houston, Shakira and so on. - nothing special.
I’ll also say that our Russian guides who lead excursions don’t know the history of the Dominican Republic at all (it’s worth asking them at least something - they don’t know anything! ) They work for a fool!

Once in a lifetime, you should definitely visit the Dominican Republic!
