Kolya, hello, in Northern Cyprus you should definitely watch: Kyrenia, the castle of St. Illarion, Bellapais Abbey, Dipkarpaz peninsula (reserve with the cutest donkeys), the monastery of St. Barnabas (a chic collection of icons), of course, the Turkish part of Nicosia, Famagusta, Salamis. Optionally, there are still about five fortresses of varying degrees of preservation, I like such things.
It is better to live in more than one place, since the island is quite large. You can part of the time in Boil, part in Famagusta. I really liked the Arkin Hotel literally on the border of the abandoned quarter of Varosha. The hotel is beachfront, the beach is gorgeous with golden sand.

Be sure to take a car in Cyprus! You can't use public transport there. How are you flying: through Turkey or through the Greek part?

ollennka,
for Russians, a pro-visa with arrival through Larnaca is still valid, don't you know?
аватар ollennka
It works, of course.

Hello. Thank you very much for your advice. We are going to fly to Sambul, where we will hang out for a couple of days, and then to Northern Cyprus. We are traveling with children and although we plan to travel, we will still return to the same hotel. I have one more question. Maybe the main question. After Istanbul, does it make sense to fly to Northern Cyprus or not to bother, but to fly to Marmaris or Alanya? Or is there something in Northern Cyprus that is worth visiting not only for the sake of "tick on the fuselage"?

It takes 20 minutes longer to fly there than to Alanya, no problems).
Everyone has different tastes, of course, but I personally was very impressed with Northern Cyprus. Especially the Buyuk Khan caravanserai and the Selimiye Mosque (aka Hagia Sophia) in Nicosia, the ancient Greek city of Salamis, the Bellapais Abbey, the monastery of St. Barnabas, Othello's castle in Famagusta, the fortress in Kyrenia - all these locations are insanely cool. Well, in addition to the feeling of the border in the middle of the island and its capital: all these striped barrels, armed guards, empty houses along the "green line", "skeletons" of luxury hotels in Varosha. For a week, that's it. And there are beaches too.

Thank you very much. I myself wildly want to go to Northern Cyprus for various reasons, but tickets from Istanbul to Ercan are almost three times more expensive than to Gaziz Pasha or Dalaman. And I need 4 pcs. And I'm still looking for excuses for such expenses.

Yes, unfortunately it will be more expensive. But also a lot of impressions).

On the topic of "Excuses": think about it, do your children and wife "wildly want to go to Northern Cyprus" like you do? Is this joint voyage worth such expenses? Or better, let the family enjoy a beach holiday on the Turkish coast, and you yourself (or even better with a friend)) will rush to Cyprus for three or four days and then continue your vacation together. Istanbul, after all, will also saturate with impressions, so in the end everyone will be satisfied.

The children are already grown-ups, they will definitely like the fortresses and Othello's castle!

Ollennka, children now have "their" interests. Mine say to me: Mom, you always pull us somewhere! If you're interested, go for it! regarding different excursions
аватар ollennka
I would advise children to improve their Russian language so as not to goof off in a decent society with "pull" and "go".))) And in general, modern children are snickering, I see. My parents never took me anywhere until I was seventeen. And I think they did the right thing. And then, too, would show off on the topic of interesting, uninteresting.
аватар ka_Sandra
Here! They do not appreciate it, because they are used to always taking them with them))
