All rooms have a sea view. Food is good, good quality. The staff is very friendly. Disadvantages - lack of animation, no swimming pool and playground. The overall impression is an inexpensive quality city hotel. Can be recommended for an economical holiday. There are rumors that its operation ends this year. They will demolish it, I suppose that in its place they will build something modern, but at the same time expensive. It's a pity! It was very convenient for me to settle here students and graduate students, whom I take out for international practice, internships. There are few hotels in Golden Sands with such a price-quality ratio. There are also cheaper ones, but this is for those who travel for one time and agree to any conditions anyhow cheap. Those who take children to festivals and competitions "get sick" with this. Those who value their reputation and at the same time need an economy option - feel free to Astoria!

Rested with a 3-year-old child in July last year in the "Astoria". We took the All Inclusive. Before that, we rested in Albena, Sozopol. Of the shortcomings - very, very noisy, it was impossible to fall asleep even with a closed balcony, I wonder how the child fell asleep, but my husband and I were waiting for the morning to sleep.

A personal hotel beach was announced, we read reviews that it was 5 minutes on foot, on the first day we went looking for it and never found it, later it turned out that it was still 5 minutes to the beach, but not on foot, but by minibus. The minibus went according to the schedule, it was necessary to catch it before lunch, because the driver had a break until 14.00 to 16.00. And since the beach was at the end of the resort, it took about 25 minutes to walk to the hotel with a normal step, which in the heat and with a child, not so much. Then the kitchen upset, my husband and child had an upset for 3 days, they ran to the pharmacy for medicines, but we were still lucky, because some children ended up in the hospital and on a drip. In the morning, the usual breakfast with eggs, omelettes, as well as sausages, cheeses and sausages - not very good quality. At lunch there were thin, tasteless soups, half-rotten tomatoes from time to time, pickled zucchini. In principle, there was a lot of food, but it was really difficult for us to choose. There were also theme nights. Flies flew in and over the food. In short, the husband ate almost nothing and the child too, but thank God I have a strong stomach))))) They saved themselves with chicken and potatoes. A mother with a one and a half year old baby was resting next to us, who was in a slight shock and ran around the district in search of buckwheat porridge. We bought fruits, since the hotel had apples and last year's oranges, then, however, watermelons were added. On the beach opposite the hotel there was some kind of drain, they said it was a sewer, we tried not to swim there. The hotel does not have its own territory, on the one hand the road, and on the other the beach. In general, we have no desire to go there again, only our child was satisfied with everything. The hotel is right next to the sea, the view from the window was gorgeous. There was a TV in the room with cartoons on. There is air conditioning, as for me it is very good - it does not blow much, it just creates a comfortable temperature. The radio didn't work. Mini bar is expensive. Balcony with chairs and tables. The partitions are translucent between the balconies, you could see the neighbors. Cleaned every day, cleaning mainly consisted of taking out the garbage. When we left, of course, all the troubles were forgotten, but the sediment remained, although there were tourists who liked everything, they were sincerely surprised at our discontent. It should be noted that these tourists were without children)))). Summary: for a vacation with a child, you need to choose a less noisy resort and a cozy family-type hotel.

I stayed at the hotel in August. I went alone, but the rest was just super!! ! I met interesting people with whom I still keep in touch!
The food at the hotel is not very good - there were only breakfasts, but they were enough for me. I went almost to the very beginning of breakfast to get chocolate croissants. Every day - sausages, cheese, sausage (I didn’t like it), cereal with milk, bread, cookies, 2 types of jam, cottage cheese or cheese (sour), something like porridge, but cold (also sour), tea , coffee, yuppie type juice. From fruits - apples, peaches (unripe), oranges, though rare, but I liked them - sweet.
Reception staff friendly and helpful! Somehow, the girl from the reception saw me on the promenade, came up, talked to me when I got sick (and it happened on the 6th day after arrival), she suggested where the doctor is, who can be contacted for insurance. The doctor ended up in a nearby hotel (very nice female doctor, speaks Russian). She examined me, called a special center for my insurance, prescribed medicines. Medicines are really expensive there - I bought an antibiotic (Zinat and Azz - it was my most expensive purchase on the golden sands). In August 2010, many in the reviews found that they were sick - fever and indigestion. The food there is not very good, even in 4 *. I met the Germans from the Aphrodite4 * hotel, they had all inclusive, so they didn’t like the food either. You have to look in restaurants and cafes - there is nothing to eat - tasty and cheap, but it's not on the 1st line.
A delicious restaurant - Old Oak, then not far on the hill, at the stop for Varna, how to go, it is not on the 1st line. Everything is delicious, the portions are large and not expensive. There are special promotions in different restaurants - for 12-14 lev - hot (steak, fries), salad and juice. I ate this a couple of times - very profitable, because. The hotels only had breakfast.
The beach is good! sandy, very close to the hotel, nearby is a free zone, sunbathing on its bedding, the sea is warm, relatively clean, sometimes the water was a little unclear, some small algae sailed, but in general everything was fine. The sea was calm, 6 times in 2 weeks a yellow flag hung, which meant strong waves, but people swam, it was even more fun on the waves!
As for entertainment - I really liked it, because of them I want to go back there again, now I compare any resort for these entertainments. Next to the hotel is the Astoria club, admission is free, on Wednesdays there is a male striptease group Maximus Boys! Great! Sometimes girls get free tequila at the entrance.
But I was in this club only 2 times (2 Wednesdays), the rest of the time I went to the Arrogans club, it takes about 15 minutes to get to it, but it's worth it! There you can say the center of the resort - foreigners, a bunch of other clubs nearby, bars on the beach and on the boulevard. Entrance to Arrogans is paid - 5 leva, but if there is a flyer (you can get it during the day and in the evening when you walk on the promenade), then the entrance is free + 1 drink to choose from 3 (sprite and vodka, rum-cola and some other) . The prices for cocktails and beer are not high there, but I don’t remember exactly... At the entrance they put a stamp on your hand, so you can go in and out as much as you want. There are a lot of young people in Arrogans, not very many girls. Mostly there are Germans and Bulgarians, but I didn’t even notice the Bulgarians, and the Germans - Pts even nothing. I met one, he arrived on the same day as me, and flew away on the same day. So I really enjoyed my vacation. I also met a young man from Macedonia, they spoke English (he does not understand Russian), it turned out to be a very good practice of English and German too, since I know both of these languages!
The weather was hot all 2 weeks, 35-38, the sea was warm - 25-27. The sun is all 2 weeks, only 1 day is cloudy. The hotel does not have its own pool, but I went to the pool, which is next to the Metropol Hotel, there is an even larger water slide (2 leva - several times to ride). You can also ride a banana, a parachute, but I'm afraid of that. I sunbathed every day, and then hung out in Arrogance until 6 in the morning. I was in the room around 6 or 7, then I was almost the very first at breakfast at 8.15 (breakfast was from 8 to 10), so every day, I slept very little for 2 hours, maybe I got sick from this. I could not sleep on the beach, because the sun was very hot, even from 11, I had to swim all the time.
In the room, the air conditioner worked fine (there are different positions - stronger, smaller), on the balcony - 2 chairs, some still have a table, I didn’t. The water in the bathroom really doesn’t drain very well, but since I lived alone, it didn’t bother me, there is no tray in the bathroom. Toilet and bathroom combined.
The radio in my room did not work (but I did not listen to it), there were many channels on TV (the first and Russia - in Russian, several English, German, there is a channel with English films, euronews, weather), the rest in incomprehensible languages. The room has a mini bar, but I did not use it, everything is expensive.
Fruits in Golden Sands, at the resort, are expensive - they don’t look very good to me, so I went to Varna for fresh fruit to the market, and I bought souvenirs there, it’s cheaper there than at the resort. I went by bus - there and back, of course I don’t remember the number. You can ask your guide for them. I did not buy excursions from the guide, because. I have never seen the guide, she did not announce herself, but the transfer delivered from the airport and to the airport as it should!
It’s better to really buy tours at local kiosks, they are cheaper there - just clarify everything (how much, from where and where they will pick up or where to go), but I didn’t go anywhere except Varna.
I really liked the rest despite the food and the fact that I got sick. It was fun. Astoria 3* - very well located in relation to the sea, first line. This is one such 3 * by the sea, and it’s 15 minutes to entertainment, not quite in the center - but it’s good (the music still comes from your club from the embankment - you open the balcony and you can dance, that’s what I did when I was sick) , but if you live closer to Arrogans, then it’s very fussy there, people walk all the time, some kind of endless sewer, and at night the Germans (inadequate, drunk) yell!
I think the review of the hotel and the rest turned out to be quite exhaustive! I want to go there again, because everything is already familiar, but you need to explore new youth-party places, find out new resorts, and then also share your impressions!
Have a nice rest!

We were well placed in the hotel, on the 2nd floor (actually it is the 3rd floor, like everywhere else in Europe), overlooking the sea. We were lucky, because the people in front of us, from our bus, were settled on the 8th and 10th floors. Although later, having met some of the comrades from our race, we found out that they had a view of the sea. So in this case, it cannot be said that Russians are settled here like hell, which, judging by the reviews we read before the trip, happens not infrequently in other hotels. Maybe we were just lucky, it's hard to say. But I would not like to get to the 1st floor. The balcony is directly at the roof level of the disco bar belonging to the hotel. Bread is often thrown at her from the upper floors to seagulls, citizens who find it difficult to put out in an ashtray, gobies (there are few of them, but there are), and cleaners sometimes go to her when cleaning their rooms directly from the balcony and collect towels that have flown from above. On the 2nd floor, this roof did not bother us at all. About cleaning: cleaned every day. Basically, cleaning consisted of taking out the garbage from the room, the bathroom, vacuuming the floor and folding the blanket into a pattern. They didn’t clean the balcony, but after they asked to take the ashtray out of the balcony, they cleaned the balcony a couple more or three times. In the shower, too, they did not wash off if the sand was on the floor. Just leave toilet paper and take out the trash. Once we did not need cleaning, but we were asked to take the trash can out of the shower. The maid did not understand Russian well and apparently decided that we were asking for a complete cleaning of the bathroom. For about 5 minutes she fiddled there with water and a rag, washed everything clean. We had a clean room, so it’s hard to say how conscientiously they clean rooms with a mess. In short, if you ask, everything will be removed. Bed linen was changed once a week, although according to the stories of our people, someone was told at the reception that they should be changed every three days. But in the maid's notebook, we saw a graph that indicated that in 5 days. We carried hotel towels with us to the beach (there were no comments on this matter), when we asked, we changed them. The rest of the towels that hung in the room in our absence were not changed. Perhaps they should have been thrown on the floor. But we didn’t bother about this, because we didn’t use them almost. As already mentioned above, the room has a conder, radio, telephone, TV, hair dryer. The radio speaker is built into the wall at the top, and a round-shaped switch is built into the wall below. In general, this is not a Soviet box, as some might think. There were 2 Bulgarian radio stations. The music is cool, you won't die of boredom. Fan in the shower. The shower was ok, there was no bathtub. The only flaw is that the shower is in the corner and the drain is almost under the sink. Those. water spills all over the tub. Of course, we didn’t have ankles, but it still took time until the water went down the drain after washing. As we understood from conversations with the people, such a system is in almost all hotels of the 2-3 star level. In short, we liked the room: spacious, renovated, new furniture, clean, large balcony. Corresponds to the three.
The breakfasts in the hotels were absolutely normal. Omelet, boiled and fried sausages, casserole, toast, cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese of course, olives, ham, sausage, fruits (peaches, apricots, watermelon, apples), two types of jam, cakes, rolls, croissants, tea, coffee, syrup , compote. In general, a standard buffet.
The appearance of the hotel is quite ordinary. A 10-story white building, and an attached oblong 2-story building, on the 1st floor of which there is a restaurant, and on the 2nd floor there is an Astoria disco bar, which could be accessed directly from the hotel lobby. The hotel has a cafe-bar, billiards. The hotel is located on the 1st line, about 50 meters from the sea. It is placed a little deeper, about 30 meters from the main street, while other hotels of the 1st line stand directly on it, and all the balconies are on display. But this is a matter of taste, of course.
Disco-bar "Astoria" worked from about 21 to 5 in the morning. The windows in the bar were open, so the music blared loudly, you could hear it even when you close the balcony. People living on 10th said they could hear it too. The music did not bother us, since we went to bed in the morning, but with children, it’s probably better not to. Although, maybe on the upper floors there is no such audibility. To whom, in general. For example, earlier, while looking for hotels, we considered more options "Tintyava" and "Kamchia". In general, they turned out to be located on the street, where there are a bunch of discos, young people hang out until the morning, the music yells to the fullest. This is the 2nd line. It is noisier there than near our hotel. To discos (Roxy, Boonker, Malibu, Papaya) from our hotel on foot about 15 minutes. To the bus stop to Varna about 10 minutes.
Our disco bar "Astoria" was considered a Russian disco. When we first came there, there were no people. We sat, maybe four more people. The repertoire is Russian pop music in processing. Sometimes they turn on foreign music, R&B less often. But there is no dullness. Behind the console DJ Boris, winds up all sorts of mixes. The waitress (when we were there, a girl named Gergana worked) rushes about like crazy. You don't have to wait 10 minutes for an order. A maximum of 3-5 minutes until the bartender mixes the cocktails and everything is already on the table. She changes two cigarettes in an ashtray, and is always somewhere nearby, she has everything under control, so you don’t have to wait three hours for the next order either. In short, the waitress is top notch. In the first week of our stay, there were few people in our disco, we sometimes went there for a cocktail if we didn’t want to go far. Or vice versa, after a night of partying, they went for an hour before closing. In the second week, apparently, people came in large numbers, and the bar, one might say, was bursting at the seams. Mostly Russian companies went there, young people aged 20-23. Although, from conversations with the people from our race (people are older : )), they also hung out in Astoria more than once, but until 12 o'clock. We were there not earlier than 1-2 nights. Music for an amateur, of course, but the DJ works perfectly. The design of the bar is cool (photos can be found on the Internet). Comfortable soft sofas opposite each other. The people from our check-in liked our bar most of all in terms of design and atmosphere. There is no crush, as in the Bunker, for example. Everything will be brought and served. And again, even with a full bar, the waitress worked fantastically fast. Even if she was a little late at the table, she apologized. Always smiling and friendly, charming, always in a good mood. In Moscow, there are few places where you can find such work. So who will be there, hello Gergana from Moscow. They did not leave a tip only the first time, on our subsequent visits there they constantly left a tip.
On the 1st floor there is a restaurant, as already mentioned above. The owner is friendly and attentive. The only thing is that its prices are higher than in other nearby restaurants. It has both Bulgarian and German cuisine. He speaks Russian well, so if you have any questions when choosing a dish, he will tell you everything.
Near the hotel there is a park where you can play mini golf.
